Merged Sylvia Browne: "You'll meet her (Amanda Berry) in heaven" / Sylvia Browne wrong again

Created a Whitehouse.gov petition. Might help. Worst case scenario, nothing happens and I'm out a few minutes. Best case scenario, the issue is finally addressed. Medium scenario (pun intended) the media here talk about it like they like to do when one of these gets enough signatures.

She needs exposure and ridicule from the public, not to be put on a political enemies list. SB ticks me off to no end as well, but the president can't swoop in and solve all of our problems for us.

I also strongly object to this woman and her ilk and would like to sign your petition, however, as I am a 'limey' is this allowed?

Cheers,

D :)

For years I had nothing but scorn for this woman.

Now, as a parent, I feel physically sick and furious in equal measures.

I personally don't think psychics should be stopped in the U.S. Any legislation would be effectively unworkable as they'd just re-brand themselves as something else and/or go overseas.

I do however think that if they cannot currently be sued in civil court for the pain and suffering they have caused then this should change and they should come to the attention of the bunco squad *

The press loves to talk about these petitions. Given the petition itself mentions exactly this case, it would serve in the manner you first suggest.

if only such things would help convince people that she is a freaking fraud. but her fans will excuse her and explain how everyone can be mistaken sometimes. a law in the US? is her crackpottery not protected under freedom of speech?

This is what I love to see. I am so glad these women were found, alive and well as much as can be expected. And I also saw the Cleveland Plain Dealer repost of the original story. Sylvia AND Montel (don't forget him) should be hammered for this.

I hope it's reported all over so she gets the scorn she so richly deserves.

So far I haven't seen any mention of Sylvia's pronouncement about Amanda in the mainstream media stories about the discovery of these missing girls/women.

I think there's a bit of an ethical problem there. They'll report psychic predictions, but not follow up on their failures.

The name of the suspect is Ariel Castro.

Suspect of a 10 year kidnapping. Sylvia hinted that the "Cuban-looking" guy (not a guy with a Cuban-sounding name) was the person who murdered Amanda. So it's not even a partial hit. She was simply as wrong as you could be.

She was, as always, playing the odds. Usually when a kid is missing more than a few months, the kid is dead or will never be found. That's why she felt so safe in saying Amanda was already dead.

Don't hold your breath.

A local news guy did a parking garage chase after Sylvia to ask her about Shawn Hornbeck when she was here in St. Louis for a . . .whatever it is she does on stage. But I believe she's retired now, so I doubt the news stories will mention this huge failure of hers. And if they do, they certainly won't blame Montel for his part in promoting Sylvia.

The skeptic community really needs to hit back hard on this.
She didn't just give bad information, she said things that, by what was written in the article, devastated the mother, and perhaps led to an early demise.

It is not against the law to lie to grieving family members.

It's sad that Amanda Berry's mother died before she was found, but she would probably have died even if she'd continued to hope that her daughter would be found alive one day.

I'm not sure what purpose a petition is supposed to serve, but it seems unlikely to result in a law against lying or any consequences for Sylvia Browne.

In my opinion, the way to punish Sylvia Browne is to show up wherever she's trying to make a buck with her lies and make sure the truth that proves she's a fraud is made available to anyone who might be deceived.

Let us remember that the "psychic" performance was for entertainment purposes only. We can now ask the families: "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained??!"

I sent a link to Robert's page to all the TV stations in Portland and Eugene. I hope someone will pick up on this and expose her once again for the total *************** she is. Jail is too good for her.

Might be worth sending links to the UK to see if the TV shows want to get a quote from Psychic Sally about this...
