Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

The amount of political divisiveness over something as universally abhorrent as this saddens me deeply, although I am not surprised.

If there is any good to be found in patriotism, then a tragedy like this should unite the nation.

It seems to me that the standard mode of all greasy politicians and media is to make as much hay as they can while the facts are still unknown and the story is still unfolding. Once things become clear, they will better unite. This allows them to say anything they want now as long as it hasn't been disproved, use it to rally people to their own agenda, appear 'reasonable' again once the facts are known, and claim anything they said before that was wrong, was just speculation.

Yay.

I don't mean to brag, but we here in Boston have had quite a bit of opportunity to have massive gatherings, what with being pretty much the best at pretty much every sport...

People on the roofs of buildings isn't strange, it's expected.

Developing story maybe... Chicago bound aircraft turned back to terminal, two men removed, at Boston Logan airport. Looking for any links now...

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Sources told FOX 25 there was an American Airlines flight that was headed to Chicago. There were two men on that plane – not sitting next to each other – and speaking Arabic.

There were some concerned marathoners on the flight so the plane was brought back to the gate and the two men were escorted off the plane.

No other details were immediately available.

Flying while Arab?

The president just spoke on tv again.

Really nothing new, but some encouraging words and shout-outs to the responders, Bostonites, and people like applecorped who are opening their homes to the victims.

Also, there has been discussion in the press about Obama not using the word "terror" in his speech yesterday. He stuck that in there today, but mostly couched in "we just don't know yet" contexts, emphasizing everything at this point is just speculation.

Can someone explain what the exact issue is here? People are making a big deal of this, but I'm at a loss as to what conclusion they are drawing form it.

Something like "Obama didn't use the words 'terror' or 'terrorism', therefore....." ??????

Everything from "...he's a weak-kneed useless leader in crises that call for a Man of Action" to "...he's secretly sympathetic to the terrorists and their goals."

That's definitely the vibe I get, but it still makes no sense to me why not using the word 'terror' would imply that.

Would it be better if he said "HOLY ****!!! These terrorists are going to kill us all! I'll be under my bed."

Or

"I applaud the terrorist or terrorists that perpetrated this attack. I am sympathetic to your cause, whatever it may be, as long as it involves the senseless slaughter of American lives."

I presume that some people want Obama to act and do something immediately rather than wait and do the right thing.

Maybe if all Muslims were taken into custody as a precautionary measure then this would mollify those people calling for action.

edited to add, O'Reilly wants it labelled an act of war

O’Reilly said the more appropriate language to use should have been “an act of war.”

That would just indicate Obama was recruiting a fifth column of Muslim terrorists to install his Islamofascist atheistic socialist regime.

I figured it had something to do with the presidential debates last year, and all the kerfluffle over the use of the word under some incident back then. And/or saying "terror" some people link to meaning attack by foreign people, and feeling Obama is too friendly with them.

Or stuff.

I think it harkens back to the Benghazi incident before the election. He was accused of not calling it a terrorist attack soon enough.
