Wow, you added the edit after I started crafting my reply, but just before I hit "post."

I don't think peanut butter is a good analogy. No one is claiming peanut butter is dripping poison into a movement which is, to many, extremely important, and refers to just some minor thing like the meaning of life and, because of religion's tendency to wage war, sect against sect, about the survival of life on Earth.

I was just responding to your "If they won't defend themselves from my arguments on this forum, they must be afraid to and know they're wrong." argument. Tying that argument to the very survival of life on earth is very exciting. I'm going to call it exciting.

I agree the schoolyard is a good analogy. The Atheism Plus clique is like the girl cliques I remember from 8th grade: defensive, exclusive, narcissistic, and dehumanizing outsiders.

It's a shame to see a vital intellectual pursuit (Atheism) splinter off a sophomoric, erotophobic cult of magical thinkers (the Plussers), now a gift to our Theist critics.

Oh they sound simply awful. And you say they're like girls? Horrid creatures.

Atheism is probably robust enough to survive this fracture of our limited resources.

Hey y'all. I think I need to start my posts with "TW: Racist, classist, ableist, vegangelical zealot scum. ****."

I'll return if any more are added. But the lack of a "argument, not the arguer" rule is really apparent.

I still strongly identify as feminist, but I'll certainly be cool with you if you agree that the rape threats folks are FUBAR? (and after years of cohabitating here with you, I'm assuming it's likely that you find the rape threatening folks terrible? Or am I misinterpreting you? I find it unlikely.)
Hey Kelly. The following isn't meant to be confrontational but I'm very confused. Here's a smiley face to prove I don't mean to be confrontational. :)

"Misinterpreting"? How could you misinterpret what I said? What about humanism calls for rape threats?

More importantly:

I'm most interested in women being ... free from sexual harassment and misogyny.
What about that would be inclusive of rape threats?

I'm really curious where I mistakenly mislead you to think I possibly would be okay with rape threats. Again, I'm free of any emotional response to your post but I'm truly confused. Here's an unsmiling smiley to prove it.

It's a long thread. I don't have time to read it. My question is atheism plus what?

I don't understand.

Who thinks it's possible for everyone to have a vegan diet?

Wait, I still don't understand. Who was promoting veganism?

From what I can tell from reading the board, Tsukasa ran amok of their one sacred cow: don't offend Setar. It's inexplicable by their own rules the special protection that poster gets.

Oh, Bunnygate is great! Thanks for the link. I'd have made it with gender-neutral characters if I could have predicted the controversy that was a distraction from the message.

I've met too many women, including feminists, who are proud that they glorify feelings over intellect. In doing this, they stereotype men as well as women. Letting feelings trump logic and evidence is the royal road to woo-woo and religious nonsense.

This is also manifested in the A+ pattern of letting "I feel offended" trump reason or evidence.

My personal experience with women and skepticism, unfortunately, matches the stereotype in bunnygate. Both my marriages were with Christian women. The first engaged in an unceasing mission to convert me. The second kept a glow-in-the-dark plastic Virgin Mary by the bed (LOL). I was way too tolerant! I've had girlfriends who were towering woos, and my last girlfriend, a former woo, was nevertheless bored by the atheist and skeptical movements.

I personally am thrilled to meet women who can follow evidence and logic and not be misled by their feelings. They are, unfortunately, rare, and I don't see them in Atheism Plus.

Cisgendered hater.
