2012 Debates

If the (damn liberal) mainstream media makes this debate about the ideas and words spoken by both men and not about the men themselves, this should be very helpful for Obama.

It's fascinating reading the Republicans responses here. They are as vacuous as the Republican candidates. It's not surprising.

I see this debate energizing both bases, but not much movement in the undecideds....

I agree 100%. Biden was ordered to win the debate, and he did.

Do better than Obama and nail in the points? I think he succeeded quite well at nailing the points he wanted to get in. But he doesn't win any points for likeability. Maybe the administration intended that for his performance? Maybe likeability wasn't a worry to them.... Fine, but I found his attitude incredibly demeaning... Obama normally doesn't strike that kind of chord with me.

Biden did better than Obama? Who'd a thunk it.:boggled:

Yes he did.

Actually, while this debate was great to watch, I don't think it will mean much to the vote. Obama needs to slam dunk the next debates to get back a comfortable lead.

I think I agree. But I also think that after the previous debate the Democratic base really needed this. Glad it turned out as I think it did.

S.E. Cupp is basically Ann Coulter pretending (badly) to be an atheist.

And if you think "PBS" automatically means "liberal", William F. Buckley himself will rise from the dead just to laugh at you.

If they are on MSNBC, they must be liberal!!

S.E. Cupp is very easy on the eyes though. That's her only redeeming quality.

Why? because he laughed at Ryan when Ryan spouted his BS?

I laughed too.

Maddow: Ryan embarrassed himself on Afghanistan. He didn't know enough about the war.

Joe zinged him on body language, and the "Jack Kennedy" line, big time. Ryan kept reminding me Eddie on the Munsters. Just can't get that image out of my head.:)

Biden's laughter was totally appropriate to me, but I can see how it would bother Ryan fans. Ryan blundered badly on several very important points.

Any guesses on the best excuses from the GOP camps about this debate?

Altitude? Stomach ache?

No excuses, just spin. They're going to spin this as Biden only being insulting, condescending and smirking at dead people.

Yeah, I defended for awhile but I'm coming to the conclusion she's full of it. And IIRC she said she's not a believer "yet".

She spends way too much time defending religion, particularly Christianity ,for me to believe she is atheist.

Bravo, Ryan.

Biden is still a ********.

Just as expected. :D :D :D

I want to say again, I was very impressed with Ryan's performance. If I didn't know about a number of Ryan's policy specifics I think I would have been swayed by his rhetoric and style. I liked it.

I think I'm partially surprised that he was so much better than Palin. The guy actually knows something.

My ranking of the debate performances to date:

1. Romney
2. Biden
3. Ryan
4. Obama

I think that Romney and Biden could be a close tie, though. I'll give them a tie, and 3 points each. One point for Obama, and two for Ryan.

That means our score is 5-4, with Romney/Ryan holding on to a slim lead at half time.
