There are people who know there are populations of them based on the evidence they've seen, read and heard.
And a century ago, there were just as many people who knew there were actual living fairies in England, based on evidence every bit as strong as the evidence for Bigfoot.
Today, there are more people who believe that aliens came here millions of years ago in a DC8
WP. Not in spaceship that just happened to look like a DC8--an actual DC8. Millions of years ago. And their evidence is every bit as good as the evidence for Bigfoot. Some might say better--they have the word of an
actual prophet!
People are gullible. People want to believe in the fantastic. See a shadowy, blurry something in the woods? How much more exciting to believe it was bigfoot than to believe it was a bear, or a tramp, a moose, or a shadow of a tree swaying in the wind. Claim it was a bigfoot, embellish your story, convince
yourself, and win the adulation of your peers. Who wouldn't want that?
Sorry, you have to do better than just saying that lots of people think they've seen something they think is BF (or that they believe the claims made by others, which isn't even
vaguely evidence).
Though I must admit that I'm tickled by the thought of hordes of government employees scouring the woods every day, collecting all the BF skeletons and scat, and studiously ignoring the footprints. You'd think that many men in black suits in the woods would attract a
little bit of attention. But no, I suppose they probably use the stealth technology they got from the aliens they're also hiding. Those little flashy, mind-wipey things they demonstrated in that Will Smith documentary probably come in handy too.
