Wow. Here we visit our G.P. for whatever ails you and sit in the waiting room and take your turn. If you have something more urgent, then you call the D-doc., a public service GP on wheels, blue lights, sirens, the whole nine yards. If it is yet more urgent then ambulance and ER are the order of the day. House calls? Disappeared years ago.

The GPs here work by appointment. When I go to see my doctor there is usually one person waiting. There are eight seats in his waiting room, so he doesn't expect crowds.

When I was a child the biggest fear was diphtheria. Then the evil pharmaceutical industry developed a vaccine, the swine.

How inconsiderate of them. Did they inject it directly into your GI tract, LOL?

The polio vaccine was on a lump of sugar but i don't remember how I got the diphtheria vaccine. If it was injected into my arm then it would have got onto my GI anyway, according to our resident expert.

Good grief, I remember the lump of sugar. Did it not have a vague pink hue?

I thought more brownish, but it was a long time ago. Eradicating polio, those scientists and doctors have a lot to answer for. Isn't that right, Clayton?

They'd run out of sugar lumps when I had mine, I had to have it from a spoon. And I'd been looking forward to that sugar lump, too. :( I think I should sue the NHS for the years of mental torment as a result of that crushing disappointment.

The sugar lump was the reason I went along with it without making a fuss.

Gee, if there were only some low risk method to expose children to these diseases so they could develop antibodies. Think of how many lives could be saved!

Now there's an idea! Any idea what we should call it? Or should we follow the anti-vaccers and put chicken bones under the kids pillows and get a shaman to dance widdershins aound the bed?

Now this part is just dramatic - like a bad reality show - heavy on genes and zero on environmental causation - it's also the farthest thing from the epicenter of the immune and gut issues ,,,,,,,"Autism is a hereditary developmental disorder of the brain. A central risk factor for the development of autism are numerous mutations in over 300 genes that have been identified, including the gene neuroligin-3, which is involved in the formation of synapses, the contact junction between nerve cells"

Now for REALITY. Mercury IS a big player in regression into an Autism diagnosis. Autism has increased into an epidemic as environmental mercury and vaccine mercury aka Thimerosal have increased since the generation of children born in the 1990's. Thimerosal has been shown to be a significant producer of autoimmunity, thus, viral and bacterial vaccines as well as environmental infections trigger behaviors as many victims cannot clear these microbes which then trigger a whole host of medical issues involving mitochondria, GI and brain inflammation. It is a glaring reality that the first cases of Autism were children born in the 1930's, when Thimerosal was first used in both medical (vaccines) and environmental (pesticides) products. It may be important to note that vaccines today, like MMR [Measles-Mumps-Rubella] contain glutamate. In addition, it may be of interest to know that this upcoming drug being developed is a new version of an older drug, Baclofen, which has showed much aid in severe gastrointestinal issues, a true core issue in Autism and one that many patients developed after the MMR vaccine: Effect of the GABAB agonist baclofen in patients with symptoms and duodeno-gastro-oesophageal reflux refractory to proton pump inhibitors

2001
Except for influenza (flu), thimerosal is removed from, or reduced in, all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and under manufactured for the U.S. market.
October 1. IOM's Immunization Safety Review Committee issues a report concluding there is not enough evidence to prove or disprove claims that thimerosal in childhood vaccines causes autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or speech or language delay.
May 5. A risk assessment* of thimerosal use in childhood vaccines finds no evidence of harm from the use of thimerosal as a preservative, other than redness and swelling at the injection site.
2003 November. A study* finds no consistent significant associations between exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines and a variety of kidney, nervous system, and developmental problems.
August. Another study looks for a link between autism incidence and the use of thimerosal-containing vaccines. The study does not find a link between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism in Denmark and Sweden, where autism rates continued to increase although thimerosal was removed from vaccines in 1992.
January. The last children's vaccines that use thimerosal as a preservative expire.
Given that "except for influenza (flu), thimerosal is removed from, or reduced in, all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and under manufactured for the U.S. market" in 2001, that in January 2003 the last children’s vaccines that used thimerosal as a preservative expired, and that the Prevalence of Parent-Reported Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder Among Children in the US, 2007 was higher than previous US estimates, it seems that thimerosal was not linked to the increase in diagnoses of ASD. You'll note that there is some evidence against the thimerosal hypothesis mentioned in the CDC page I quoted (August 2003).

........It is a glaring reality that the first cases of Autism were children born in the 1930's

It's a glaring reality that the term Autistic was applied by Leo Kanner of Johns Hopkins to to a study of children in 1943. Hans Aspberger was using it in 1938. The word Autistic is older, as is the condition itself.
