Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

In reading this, there seems to be quite a bit of discussion about paying off his credit cards. He even tells his wife to call one to get the total payoff amount. What does it mean that he wants to pay off all his credit cards? From a money management point of view, it might make more sense to pay the minimums to conserve his cash for more pressing needs. On the other hand, he might want to pay them all off so he can get onto a current cash basis with all his newly donated income. Or maybe he really does plan to leave the country, and he's more worried about American Express chasing him than the state of Florida. (I'd be worried too; they have offices everywhere.) But it seems to be an odd concern, all things considered. Has any of this been clarified subsequently?

Just out of curiosity, do you know anyone who doesn't wish he or she could pay off their credit cards?

The suggestion that Zimmerman paid off Amex to keep them from finding him after leaving the country is really one of the biggest pieces of nonsense I've heard regarding this case, and there is considerable competition.

I don't find it odd. It seems like one of the few smart things GZ did. If you are in debt and suddenly receive a lot of cash, it is wise to pay off all of your high interest credit cards.

It was a joke, take it easy.

Yes, he is clearly very wise. Collect a bunch of money from strangers for legal fees, and use that money to pay off debts unrelated to your legal fees. Ethics, schmethics.

Excuse me while I go vomit. On the heels of the Penn State debacle, I don't know if I can deal with more child molesting. :jaw-dropp
Well there you go... no need for a trial or due process in America at all, is there?

Get a rope, find a tree, just like the good old days, hmmm?

And anyone who dares point to the Constitution is defending child molesters.
Talk about the need to vomit.

Exactly what's in my post that indicate GZ is not entitled to the best defense possible? My issue is with child molesting. See Sandusky, Jerry.

Really? because when I see the Sandsuky threads, I see a lot of posts from me condemning what he did, as well as the coverup. And lots of posts explaining exactly how such things happen.

From you, not so much.

Plenty of posts here complaining about Zimmerman being given due process though.

Wow, though there's absolutely no need for me to explain myself, I'll try to provide some answers.

I didn't follow the Penn State/Sandusky thread here on JREF. That would be why you don't see any posts from me.

I haven't a clue what you're talking about in giving GZ due process. I don't think I've ever advocated that he receive anything but the best defense available to him and a fair trial. I think anyone that says he can't get a fair trial wasn't paying attention to the Casey Anthony trial.

These new revelations about GZ as a child, molesting another child, make me ill. Sounds like it went way beyond "playing doctor". I wasn't aware I wasn't allowed to have an opinion.

Sorry, but I have heard this suggested before when it wasn't a joke. You know, it's kind of hard to tell when people are joking on the internet. I heard while ago that Corey released a witness statement saying Zimmerman has been accused of molesting a 6yr old when he was 8. Is that a joke? I don't know.

Really? That's your FIRST reaction? As opposed to "hmm...he was 8 years old and she was 6 years old, I wonder if there's more to this story".
