Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

So neither parent should be relied upon to recognize the yelling.

Neither has probably ever heard their son like that before.

Fair enough, but there's a difference between saying you recognize your son's voice and making the bizarre assertion that you've heard your son scream in terror "many, many times".

The Zimmermans are a very strange group of people.

Well I just had a relevant (but disturbing) experience.

I was at the gym and an elderly gentleman was on a treadmill in the row ahead of me and to the left. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed he started "floating" back on the treadmill. I think he may have gotten dizzy or disoriented. So he hit the back of the treadmill and fell backwards and hit his head against the treadmill behind him and landed on the floor. His head hit the plastic casing around the machine.

He opened up a wound about the size of a silver dollar and started bleeding pretty profusely. We called 9/11 and I rushed over to help. The gym has a lifeguard who came in to administer first aid. Looking at the wound, it was about twice the size of the one on George's head. And he fell one time.

Take this in whatever way you will.

Is that how GZ did it, too?

Was it Frank's treadmill?

Wow. Definitely relevant.

Geeze. I hope that guy is alright.

I just got home and haven't seen anything yet. Did he really say that? It's one thing to feel that you recognize your child's voice but how many "life or death struggles" has his son actually been involved in?

You need to see it in context. I think he was just intent on not giving BDLR any other answer other than "yes, I recognize the voice, that is my son George".

BDLR tried to get him to admit the first time he heard it, he was unsure (I guess the setup for a possible explanation of why Mr. Martin said 'no' the first time he heard it) and Mr. Z corrected him and said it wasn't that he was unsure, it's that others were talking and he couldn't hear, so he listened with headphones, and he was sure the first time he heard t.

Did the current balance in the trust fund ever come up? All I heard was that it was in a trust with restrictions but those restrictions were not specified.

I don't think I heard it. Just that PP topped out at 2hundred something - 205, maybe ?

But since it was admitted as evidence, we all get a look at GZ finances in 15 days, right ?

BTW - they mentioned the Honda Ridgeline was 2008, if you still care about the key.

I hope so. After we called 911, his daughter in law (who works at the gym) was saying she didn't want the ambulance to come. He seemed pretty out of it. But I think that may have been why he fell in the first place. I hope it wasn't a stroke.

When I left, he was sitting up in a chair looking embarrassed.

Why wouldn't someone want to go to the hospital or be looked at by professionals ? Sounds suspicious...

Except he never said what you added in bold, nice try though. What he said was that he had heard his son scream "like that many times" (paraphrasing) when he lived with him. He was clearly referring to different types of instances. I believe the prosecutor asked further questions that allowed him to add it was not "in terror" but my memory may be wrong on that point.

I was surprised the prosecutor did not press the issue more and ask for examples, but it may have been due to the old attorney adage not to ask a question you don't know the answer to, since he might have responded "when he hurt himself on such and such occasion" or something like that.

It was just a lighthearted continuing on the whole GZ parallel...

Gotcha. Well played.

Actually, the woman who didn't want an ambulance, who I guess is his daughter in law, works there at the community center. Most of the other people there were pretty upset at her for it, so I am hoping she changed her mind right after we left.

Getting old sucks.
