Zimmerman was the point person in that community for NW. That NW email was his. Further, if you had read the second paragraph:

"To receive Neighborhood Watch updates, safety tips and be noticed [sic] of any suspicious activity within your community, call George Zimmerman at xxxxxxxxxx"

If it helps to clarify a misunderstanding, as an outside reader, I did initially thought that OnlyTellsTruths was trying to push a new theory. But reading back over it, he/she was creating a story to show that Zimmerman does not need to be a criminal mastermind to leave out one part of the story and still have all the evidence supporting his version. I don't think it was intended to be based on actual plausibility. I don't even think it was meant to be a speculation, just a hypothetical, for argument sake. :)

OTT's speculation may be Corey's thinking that GW was hunting a black kid to shoot. No facts we've yet seen support that or the 2nd murder charge.

At least FL has deferred the riots for a year or two.

The report, dated March 13, came nearly a month before a special prosecutor brought second-degree-murder charges against Zimmerman, 28, in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon. He has pleaded not guilty and said he acted in self-defense.


"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely, if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern," the report says. I'll be looking forward to seeing and hearing Serino on the Witness stand.

I thought GZ just gave their info to whoever ran the list.

Did GZ actually run the NW program?

So the overrule on the manslaughter charge did not occur until after March 13th then?

That's why Serino and Lee are supportive of GZ in the media after that date?

Any hubbub prior to 3/13 about no charges being filed was just hype, since Serino's capias request is dated 3/13? There couldn't have been any charges prior to a request for them, right?

Did we ever hear what Wolfinger's conflict of interest was? That was given as one of the reasons for him stepping aside, iirc.

I agree. I am in the "not enough evidence" state of mind. I didn't take OTT's hypothetical as anything close to attempting to line up actual facts. OTT's point was that omitting a single important detail of the story doesn't require an exceptionally high IQ. The accuracy of the information was irrelevant. It was really no different than bringing in an anecdote about the way kids tattle to make the same point; "so there I was, minding my own business, when this kid came up and hit me for no reason." It wasn't mean to reflect a possibility.

My personal view, just because we can acknowledge that, given the circumstances of this case, GZ did have the opportunity to lie by ommission, and he stands to gain something from such a lie, it doesn't mean we should reach the conclusion that he actually did lie by ommission.

n the recorded interview, he says Martin jumped from the bushes and attacked him.


“What the (expletive) is your problem homie?” he says Martin asked.


“Hey man I don’t have a problem,” Zimmerman replied.


“Now you have a problem,” he says Martin told him.
He continued to describe the attack.


"He took my head and slammed it against the concrete several times, and each time I thought my head was going to explode and I thought I was going to lose consciousness,” he said.


“He kept slamming and slamming, and I kept yelling help, help, help as loud as I could.”
Zimmerman also told investigators Martin told him "you're gonna die tonight”.


As the teen reached for his side and banged his head, Zimmerman says he pulled out his gun and shot Martin.


“Oh you got me. You got me, you got it,” Martin said after being shot according to Zimmerman.


A video released to his legal team website showed a bandaged Zimmerman from the night of February 27th.


The documents also show that the lead investigator Chris Serino did not believe the story and wanted to file charges. Seminole County State Attorney Norm Wolfinger citing a lack of evidence shot down the recommendation.


Serino also questioned Zimmerman on why he decided to follow Martin who only had a bag of skittles, can of iced tea and $40 in cash.

I can't help but wonder that maybe none of this would have happened if GZ had been wearing an orange windbreaker and ball cap stenciled "Neighborhood Watch." I think it's entirely possible that TM jumped on GZ thinking he was being stalked by a mugger, and there would have been no confusion if GZ had been in some kind of recognizable uniform. And I also suspect that if GZ approached TM, he probably said something like "Hey, you! What'chu doin'?," rather than "Good evening sir. I'm George Zimmerman with the Neighborhood Watch. May I help you?" If someone is going to function as a volunteer cop, he should be easily identifiable. Even a plainclothes real cop shows his badge if he speaks to someone.

Well, he was going to get groceries, he says. So he wouldn't have had on such a uniform anyway.

I suppose he could keep a hat in his truck to put on to confront people, but he's not supposed to confront people.

It says "eyes and ears only". That means don't run after suspects.


It's become quite aparent that posters here that carry concealed weapons don't believe there is any responsibility on their part as a result of carrying that weapon. George went looking for trouble even after the dispatcher told him they didn't need him to do that. George approached Trayvon when he could have backed off to avoid a confrontation. George brought the very gun he was afraid Trayvon would grab into the situation.

Everyone is given a license to be stupid and suffer the consequences of their actions. But when you receive a license to carry a deadly weapon, they should take the stupid license away.
 
Wait, so George really did claim that Martin jumped him from the bushes? Ok, can we now agree that DD's version and George's versions do not square?
