Simple question for Bigfoot enthusiasts: Why no unambiguous photos/videos?

That's an ad hom. I just thought I would point that out to you.

It was no such thing. It would be an ad hominem if he said something like "We shouldn't listen to Jodie, for Jodie is female."

Questioning why bears can be counted in the midst of the Great Depression but not bigfoot is called asking a question.

Is there a name for the fallacy of fallaciously calling something a fallacy?

Also, I can't for the life of me figure out why a hobo would maul a vineyard. Wouldn't he want to...you know...not incur the ire of the property owners by trashing their place? Especially if he was black and in the South.

Indeed. The best competing hypotheses for the story are (1) bear and (2) fabrication.

So not a BF then...

Nope, you absolutely have to find a reasonable explanation since the probability for bigfoot is 0%. Anything else, no matter how unlikely or remote, has greater probability for being the potential cause of the misidentified footprint.

The probability is very unlikely, but your response doesn't address the point of my post ..

Now come on, yourself...

I'm sorry, what was the point? Were you asking why not bigfoot? If they are counting bears, chances are they would run across a bigfoot if it existed. Mississippi also has one of lowest rates for bigfoot sightings in the US. Ironically the bear count is also low.

I'm not sure that connection is ironic.

Ever see those studies that compare the range and frequency of bigfoot sighting and the range and frequencies of bear sightings?

My comment was more specifically about your father's "sighting".

So. In your opinion - not a BF then?

We were talking about bears, not Bigfoots.

I doubt that there were any Bigfoot sightings in Mississippi 1942.. We do know there were bears in Mississippi in 1942..

You said there were six bears in Mississippi; I simply pointed out, that as long as there was only one, you can't rule out a bear as the subject of your Pa's encounter..

How unlikely it would be, however improbable the odds, is beside the point..

I don't have it all figured out myself, but if my screaming father startled him and he got tangled trying to run away.......it was the only scenario that would make any sense for the destruction to me.

The name for fallacious is bull ****. If you don't believe that bigfoot exists, then to ask why they aren't being counted would fall into the bull **** category IMO. That is a question that is a perfect example of a circumstantial ad hominem, is it not?

A 10 year old made up a story in 1932. And people are arguing about it on the internet in 2012. In a purported discussion of Bigfoot.

I love life.

I believe I did say that when I pointed out that there were only 12 bears in Mississippi in 1932, but I happen to think probability is relevant.

I have, I think it was originally done tongue and cheek, but the point wasn't lost on me then.

Jodie, are you saying you no longer believe in the possibility of bigfoot's existence?

I don't think it's exactly the same view point that you have about it but the outcome is the same.

I have a real problem with discriminating fence sitters. You either are or you aren't pregnant, so you either believe bigfoot exists or you don't.

Looking at this from a logical viewpoint, no evidence is in sight and none forthcoming in the foreseeable future, it adds up to not existing.
