The Incredible odds of fulfilled bible prophecy

Yeah. But if there's one thing I've learned about being a geek is the absolute right to be pedantic about fictional characters. G'head, go make a mistake about Start Trek some time, see what response you get. ;)

What, something like getting the name wrong? ;)

There was actually one prophecy in the bible that even the bible reports did not occur. But there was a good reason for that and I will explain by next Tuesday or sooner.

I don't see the point. Since none of the biblical prophecies have been demonstrated to be fulfilled, why would you bother presenting a prophecy that the bible said didn't happen?

But there was a good reason for that and I will explain by next Tuesday or sooner.

Is it Jonah 3:4?
And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

DOC will now persuade us that the bible prophecies have been fulfilled, by telling us about one that wasn't? Oh well, why not, it didn't work that well the other way around.

So to amend my previous summary of DOC's argument

It is amazing that so many biblical prophecies were fulfilled, even though none have been actually fulfilled but may yet be fulfilled and it isn't really possible to know exactly what was prophesized as the translations are not easily achieved and we can't know if pronouns are being used properly and all of this doesn't matter because making predictions is only part of the prophet's job, so we shouldn't put too much stock on the fact that they aren't fulfilled and I know of another example of a failed prophecy in the bible.
Therefore god.

We can't even know what was actually written since ancient Hebrew was so confused that they didn't even know what the word "day" meant.

Betting by previous doc falacies, I'm going to bet on:
"Prophecy X didn't occur and the bible didn't deny it. Why would someone keep it in if it's an obvious fail? Therefore the rest of the stuff the bible doesn't deny as true must be true"

Now, do be to hard on DOC, after all it was Science™ that has conclusively shown* that there are multiple universes out there, and has also shown that if it can happen, it must have happened. Therefore all the prophesies are true and therefore gunderscore.

I am willing to let this post stand on its own, and I will tell you why by next Tuesday at the latest. It is, however, a red flag that you didn't address one of DOC's posts directly. This thread isn't about DOC you know.

Oh Ye of little faith. I'm sure this one will be the winner. This will be the Big Post where DOC finally proves the truth of the bible and all your scoffing and mockery will be brought to nothing. Laid waste like Nineveh and Tyre. Destroyed like Nebucanezzar destroyed Thebes... Your faith will rise from the dead just like Lazarus and Jesus Christ Himself and the world will once again be saved from the sin of sinning sinners again just like before when it was saved again...

My Brain hurts!

So, Tuesday, April 3, Romney will likely win three big primaries. This prediction is probably accurate. Yet, it involves no divine inspiration. I only bring it up because "next Tuesday" (4/3/12) is when DOC will supposedly return to tell us of the, as yet, unfulfilled prophecy that will validate his position.

I suspect this has something to do with the second coming of Christ. If so, I'll be waiting with a rebuttal.

Yeah, was it when jeebus said he'd be dead/buried for 'three days and 3 nights" Matt 12:40?

Now I'm not a mathematician by any stretch, but Friday afternoon 'til Sunday morning is 1.5 days and just 2 nights. This I know. No sane person can deny this.

So is jeebus a liar DOC?

Is this a failed prophecy DOC?

I don't see how it can be that. DOC will merely say Jesus hasn't come back yet, but sooner or later he will. Tyre will in the end be destroyed, sort of stuff.

No, I think it's Jonah Ch 3 about Nineveh getting destroyed within forty days. Even by DOC's elastic timescales, that one has failed. But the city was spared because God changed His mind, after the Ninevites (and their domestic animals) repented, improved their behaviour, and turned good. This may be what DOC was leading up to with his odd "would your behaviour change if you believed this stuff?" which he puzzled us all with a few pages ago.
