Trayvon Martin, Vigilante Justice

Which is up to the prosecutor. No charges have been levied as of yet. Do you imagine a conspiracy?

Well, based on the current facts, and the recent developments in the case, yes. Certainly a cover up.

(I don't know if this has been mentioned, but apparently Zimmerman was going through schooling to become a police officer)

No officer should EVER correct an eyewitness as to what an eyewitness reported hearing. Ever. It's unprofessional, and downright shocking.
I smell a serious coverup.

In my opinion, SPD needs to bring in the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) to investigate also.

Something smells very fishey in Sanford, and I feel that it originates at the Sanford Police Department.

Here's the linkey.

What's absurd about it?

Well, if you're walking through your neighborhood, minding your own business, and someone starts to follow you, then you see him chasing you, are you going to feel threatened?

I would. And I am a pretty big guy.

We know that Zimmerman chased Martin, based on his own 911 call.

Not that it matters much.

Cheers!

All that means is if the guy makes sure you're dead he'll never have to answer for it.

They also seem to be in possession of Trayvon's cell phone.

<snip>

Also my other question is still open as well:

note that the Police Sgt has the same last name as the shooter.

Are they closely related or is it a coincidence?

I believe it to be coincidence. If they were related in any way, he would have been required by department policy and also (IIRC) Florida law, to not participate in any part of the investigation.

Not that it matters much in the larger scheme of things, but the name of the police officer was misstated in the original WFTV article linked to by the OP. It was corrected later on.

On Feb. 29, WFTV reported that the Sanford police spokesman was David Zimmerman. His name is David Morgenstern. We regret the error.

Just like bringing a weak case to trial which results in aquittal for lack of evidence means the perp gets away with it, even if new evidence comes to light later on that establishes guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

You know what else is missing? Support for your claim that an unpaid volunteer acting as a security guard needs a license.

I don't expect you will be presenting such evidence either.

That would be crazy like expecting volunteer ambulance corp people to have their EMT licence.

Is that eyewitness correction a fact or is it merely a allegation?

Yeah, because it's exactly the same thing... :boggled:

It's more like saying you need an EMT license to call an ambulance for a sick or injured person.

Yes, fully aware but, is it possible that this was an unfortunate interaction between two people who one happened to be black and one happened to be white without race ever being a factor? In the dark, with a hood on, did Zimmerman even know Martin was black?

That is possible, but what group did he mean when he said "they always get away with it?" As the only thing he as getting away with was buying snack food that seems an unlikely group to be concerned about their getting away with it. So likely a young black man in a hooded sweatshirt was put into some category by this man, and it is likely race played a role in that. Dress also likely played a role in that.

It is an allegation. Whether it is "merely" or not remains to be seen.

Since it is an allegation made by the witness herself I'm not sure that "merely" is an appropriate description.

Witness: Sanford police "Blew us off" in teen slaying
However the story the police have of this witness is different, she is the one they claim refused an interview at first.

"Actually officers who were canvassing the neighborhood looking for potential witnesses, the evening of the shooting, contacted her and she said she did not want to get involved," Morgenstern said.
She did write a statement, for her roommate, and that was only after several attempts by officers who were asking for her information," Morgenstern said, adding that "the information she provided in her sworn statements… [was] consistent with the information Zimmerman provided."

He wasn't just punched in the face, though, the back of his head was also bleeding. When you are getting the snot kicked out of you, do you often sit an contemplate; hmm is this just bodily harm or is this great bodily harm?

And he apparently tried to kidnap the kid. He had no right to detain him and it seems he tried to. So resisting kidnapping is now not cause for defense?
