Why did 9/11 need to be so elaborate?

Well, heck, I'll take a shot at answering the OP's question.

Whether this is all that elaborate or not, we'll see. But to get the most shock and awe possible, you would collapse the towers before everyone went to work (maximum viewage), and save 7 for the final exclamation point when they got off after work (maximum viewage). Hope that helps.

Concerning US time zones, it was good timing. Zimbabwe? I'm not so sure. The world is a pretty big place.

Weak. Crash a single plane into Yankee or Fenway while the Red Sox & Yankees are playing. (Preferably during the playoffs.) Do it around the 4th or 5th inning so you can get plenty of family shots.

In one blow, Everyman & celebrities get taken out. "They hate us for our freedoms" gets driven home even deeper & even more jump on the war wagon. Plus, far less things for idiots on YouTube to imagine.

I'm always amused by the "9/11 was an excuse to invade Iraq argument". Read Woodward's series of books about 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq. It's pretty clear that 9/11 disrupted the Administration's plans for Iraq and probably pushed back the start of the war for about a year. If anything 9/11 was an impediment to Iraq.

He chose to represent himself and was convicted in open court, after refusing to enter a plea. The court entered a "not guilty" plea on his behalf.

You are aware that this was the most watched crime in history, right?

That's not elaborate. That's just timing. A terrorist attack, even a fake one, would seek to kill the most amount of people, and they did. After people got to work, but before lunchtime. People were actually stopping work throughout the world to stare at their TV screens. 7 went almost entirely unregarded, except for engineers, architects, and CT discussions.

This highlights the problem with so much of the CT theory of how the world works- it's essentially indistinguishable from how things would be if the "official story" were true.

The argument that the attacks were timed for "maximum shock and awe" works equally well both for the "THEY did it" theory and the "Terrorists did it" theory. Both groups would want maximum exposure to generate maximum public reaction. So this "point" does absolutely nothing to help us determine who was actually responsible.

And yet, it's exactly these sorts of points that the CTists keep harping on.

I love how he tried to creatively misunderstand what I said when I am in the thread and able to correct him. That, or he genuinely misunderstood me, thought I cannot see how a reasonable person could do so.

There is no "instead" here. Al-Qeada went for both maximum exposure and maximum fatalities on 9/11 and they unfortunately succeeded.
