Mother Teresa protected pedophile priest. Canonization process in jeopardy?

Delusional, psychotic nutbag. That's the best I can do.

MT was adored in my upbringing. Pictures, giant books, documentaries, and more, were foisted on me from a young age. When I first came across Hitchens I was coming down off of a serious woo, cult, conspiracist viral infection and his book and movie on her shocked me to the core of my entire being.

I have actually pinpointed my emotional connection to Hitchen's work to this very moment in my life. Didn't really make sense to me until I saw this article, in my mind I turned to Hitch and said? "Are you laughing?" The guy's work literally smashed my thinking apart like a baseball bat to a piñata.

That's why it's so funny for me to produce this follow up post by sfweekly.

Bilingual SF Weekly Staff Writer Lauren Smiley translates:

The Archdiocese of San Francisco expressed its sadness about the Weekly's accusations and highlighted in the press release that even the story's author wasn't sure if the letters were written by Mother Teresa.

"I am sure that Mother Teresa, in all her goodness, would forgive this shameful attack, but it is a dark day for journalism."

We called the archdiocese for further comment, particularly on the strong indications that the letter -- which you can read here -- was written by Mother Teresa, though it is unsigned. We'll let you know if we hear back.

God Save the Queen.

Teresa was, and continues to be, a vile and huge fraud perpetrated by the RCC.

Sadly, not enough people recognize this and her canonization is, I think, all but inevitable. The Pope/Church would have made her a saint while alive, if they thought they could have gotten away with it.

Sickening.

Sad day for journalism? Are these people serious? Or merely stupid?

Fr. John A. Hardon was another of those who knew damned good and well that Donald McGuire was raping children under his care. The Jesuits are quick to declare that McGuire was "evil and perverted," now that he's sitting in a Federal prison cell, but they maintained silence as he continued to grope kids. Nearly everyone within the RCC was enabling this man's perverse activities, yet now that he's busted, they're quick to condemn him. Why he wasn't drop-kicked out after the FIRST incident, (which they knew about), and why he was allowed to continue this deserves an answer.

And - stop me if I'm wrong - if the Jesuits knew about it and permitted it to continue, why shouldn't they be held accountable and liable for damages? Would someone of a fine legal mind on this board answer, please?

I think I am beyond being surprised at hearing just how bad Harridan Agnes was - shocked at the specifics, yes; but surprised by it, a resounding "NO!!!".

Oh I don't know.

How about what I think about "Mother" Teresa (spit)?

She was a lying, mean, hypocritical, cruel, prevaricating, deceitful bitch who, if it existed, would be roasting in Hell right now.

YMMV & etc.

Sorry but I just can't go along with your praising of her.

;)

Got a copy of the policy document?

One of the best documented is the second Irish report into child abuse by the RCC - in which a Bishop was checking on how to insure the church in regards to compensation claims for child abuse years before he even started to institute some changes to prevent child abuse.

You can start reading about it here.

Enya is from that area. Her mother is the leader of the choir in her home town, but I have yet to see connection. My suspicion is that kind of thing is kept quiet.

In reading further about this, I'm not surprised by the Vatican's assertion of shock and surprise regarding people's reaction to their worldwide cover-up of child abuse by priests. That this closed society tries to connect this to the secularization of society shows just how far out of touch it really is with the real world.

Most normal people are horrified by the idea of a child suffering abuse at anyone's hands, much less an adult who ought to be trusted and relied upon. That one priest tried to liken the Irish PM's outrage and response to Adolf Hitler, and then had to apologize for it, shows they have a lot to learn.

And in a related story...

Cardinal Bernard Law, who resigned as Boston's archbishop in 2002 after the priest sex abuse scandal exploded in the US, has left his subsequent job as head of a Roman basilica.

The Vatican said on Monday that Pope Benedict XVI had accepted the 80-year-old's resignation as head of St Mary Major basilica, and had named as Law's replacement Santos Abril y Castelló.

Law's 2004 appointment as the archpriest of one of Rome's most important basilicas had been criticised by advocates for clerical sex abuse victims, who say bishops who covered up for paedophile priests should be punished, not rewarded.

Yeah, I think some folks are a little unclear on the concept.

I'm not an attorney but I am a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. I believe that there is a potential that his leadership could have violated Title 18 USC if they acted in concert to move McGuire across state lines for the purpose fo avoiding his prosecution or to avoid him being served by a state court. Not knowing the details it's hard to say if his bosses met the elements. Certainly if they conspired to hide his abuse in violation of state law over the internet or phone lines they've also committed the elements of conspiracy.

More on McGuire himself. The truly frightening thing about all of this remains the Holy See's knowledge from the 1960's that this SOB was doing all of this, and yet, they kept him in office. Had he simply been some clod off the street, he'd have been in prison back around 1969 at least.

Just remembered Hitch isn't around to comment and it feels like someone punched me in the heart. I'd like to come up with something as brutal as "thieving Albanian dwarf" right now but I'm just too disgusted.

Keep on truckin'
Purely in the academic pursuit of pedantry, I believe Hitch said she was a "lying, thieving, Albanian dwarf."

Look, can we just agree on the "Albanian dwarf" part?

Can't we all just get along?

(Why do you people hate America?)

(Have I Poed this?)

That sadistic woman had many more skeletons that have come out of her closet. The RCC will simply rewrite her history/biography and exclude the bad stuff.

Great you mentioned it, I did that from memory, though the fact she was a Catholic should have preempted the lying bit.

The two adjectives plus one noun formula works so well though. Look, I came up with a new one.

Fatuous, sanctimonious predator.
