"The Republicans’ war on science and reason"

All of the above, plus food stamps, welfare, aid to dependent children, education subsidies, billions thrown at politically connected hopelessly failed "green" industries, Pell Grants, Student loans, 99 weeks plus of unemployment benefits, Aid to Cowboy Poetry events, oh the list is so long, it would take forever to just cover the tip of the iceburg. 15 trillion in debt, and 4 billion in more debt just today alone.

So, the debt caused in its whole by the 'W' tax cuts, the 'W' wars, and the failure to move retirement age by 2 years for people under 40 is a good excuse to starve children, starve adults, deny poor people medical care, gut all education everywhere in the USA, and so on.

If I understand you right, you're espousing deliberate, universal human misery. Is that your intent?

I see Mr. Prey has notably—and again—failed to back up his claims that "the IPCC is just a bunch of political hacks" and that "the whole movement is based on 19th century spread the wealth Marxism."

Can't say I'm surprised, really.

We're 15 trillion in debt and fast going down the cliff the way of Greece, Italy,Portugal and much of the rest of socialist Europe. What do you suggest? More debt???????????

It's been relatively stable the last 10 000 years or so, until we started releasing CO2...

That is still co9mpltely beside the point though as your basic argument is non-sequitur.

You can't conclude that the current climate change isn't anthropogenic because climate has changes in the past any more that a murder can argue that he didn't commit a crime because that same thing had occurred for thousands if years before his birth.

Whew! Talk about tortured logic!!!

10. The Law of Exclamation
First recorded in an article by Lori Robertson at FactCheck.org in 2008, this states: "The more exclamation points used in an email (or other posting), the more likely it is a complete lie. This is also true for excessive capital letters."

It is reminiscent of the claim in Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels that the more exclamation marks someone uses in writing, the more likely they are to be mentally unbalanced.

According to Pratchett, five exclamation marks is an indicator of "someone who wears their underwear on the outside".

May the Bird of Paradise lite on your Exclamation Point.

This strange statement of Robs didn't work in the JFK thread, and isn't working here. I wonder if he is capable of supplying a genuine response instead?

Or will the seagulls dump on his answers?

Let me think, since I have said, in this discussion, recently, in several places, treads, etc, that undoing the W gift to the rich, stopping the stupid wars that ruined our national reputation and made us out to be a second-rate USSR, and raising the rtirement age for people under 40, obviously I'm not in favor of more debt.

I will put it bluntly, Robert, the faux-Republicans are very nearly entirely responsible for this horrible debt, the debt has grown under every republican president after Eisenhower faster than under the Democratic presidents, and now that the Republicans have created a budget crisis deliberately, they are quite dishonestly and inhumanely trying to use the crises they, themselves, intentionally created to kill off every social program in existance, and return the USA to the 1800's in terms of individual welfare.

In short, they are nothing but merchants of misery. Why do you support misery?

Nonsense. The greatest portion by far of the National Debt is due to social programs begun by FDR and LBJ and now compounded by the Goofus now in the White House.

Is there some reason you persist in completely counterfactual, fraudulent propaganda?

Numbers don't lie.

really?
borrowing trillions of dollars to fight two foreign wars (bush) does not matter?

At some point can we refer to these as "two foreign wars (obama)"?

I mean, assuming that since his inauguration Obama had the ability to end the wars by fiat, hasn't he to some degree "owned" them for about three years now?

I'm a registered Republican, but that doesn't mean I can't fault Bush for taking us into two wars, and keeping us there long after any concept of victory had faded from the realm of possibility.

Might there be some Democrats that can put a least a couple of years of war expense clearly at Obama's feet?

And I don't see a lot to be gained by arguing over which party put us deeper in debt. We're there. Now, what to do about it?

Bush the Lesser has to eat it all. Obama is just delaying to the rear and policing up some of the mess that the merry morons left, while maintaining a posture of strength so that other potential aggressors will not think us impotent to resist aggression.

Obama has achieved more (such as whacking Osama) in his time as POTUS than the Shrub did since the end of Saddam's regime, and he is doing it in a way that gives us some hope to be out of there before the children of soldiers fighting there come to relieve them. That saves us a lot of money right there.

Numbers don't lie.

The more applicable phrase (for Lefties) is Figures don't lie, but liars, figure. If you don't know that the lions share of the US expenditure is SS, Medicare and Medicaid, then you just aren't paying attention.

The rsate of increase in the debt slowed under Clinton, then accelerated like a cheetah on crystal meth under Bush the Lesser.

Can't blame that on Obama. All Obama did was include the borrowing for the Shrub Wars on the regular books where we could see it.
