Merged Chick Tracts

Some of Jack Chicks comics shown a degree of skill. However I don't believe the man or his followers are completely sane. If you are new to Mr. Chicks comics you are in for a treat. It a rare insight ito a fundamentalistically diseased mind.

I find it hard to believe that a guy with the skills he has could be so utterly moronic. That is why I propose that he is EXPLOITING a market NICHE...what do you think?

In the 6th or 7th (depending on how you count) panel, there is a hand holding a platter with "IHS" on it and "wafer god" written below it. What does IHS stand for?

I used to buy and read Chick tracts as a kid. They scared the hell (figuratively speaking) out of me. I think the key to dissecting Chick is to realize that he's just quoting from a sort of shared fantasy entertained and developed by thousands of people over many years. I don't just mean Christianity but rather the paranoid, self-reinforcing ideas about satanic conspiracies and the Catholics and everything else. The idea that the pope had Kennedy assassinated because the president made an attempt to balance good national policy with his personal religious beliefs is extreme, but it's typical of people who tell themselves that the whole Catholic church is a tool of Satan designed to mislead Christians. That's not an extreme idea in Chick's circles.

As a side note, one of the most interesting thing about the Chick tracts is how he's updated them over the years. This one is out of print, but it used to be about atheist neo-Nazis. Now it's about Wiccans. Still, the "end times" gotta keep up with the times!

I think fear causing someone to act on and believe irrational things, crossed with dealing with that fear for so long that you end up exploiting it in others ... is a fine line that doesn't always get purposefully crossed until it's "too late".

Fear makes otherwise intelligent and talented people do irrational and sometimes crazy ****.

In another Chick Tract, he claims that this is, in fact, an admission by the Catholics that they are pagans. According to Jack Chick, the IHS stands for Isis, Horus and Set.

I wish I still had my old collection of tracts. I got rid of them some time ago, and I recently figured out that they change old tracts with new wording. I think some of it is to keep them 'up to date', but some of it seems to me to be to get rid of things that might now be embarrassing for Chick.

I'll give this to Mr. Jack Chick. Other weiird off beat cults often go the anti semetic route but not Jack Chick. He's not only pro jewish he condemns those who aren't. I enjoy the rants of this man. To me its like watching a very unusual soap opera using little comic books.

He does have a lot of Naziesque caricatures of Jews in his tracts. Check out the professor in "Big Daddy".

I remember when you used to get those stupid things in your Trick-or-Treat bag at Hallowe'en.

I remember the satisfying "thwack!" of the eggs we threw, too. :)

I'd like to thank the OP for turning me on to Chick Tracts about a year ago. They are like Ned Flanders on acid. Always a great read!

No he believes what he says. Mr. Chick is even more weird than his tracts suggest. He believes that the KJV is the only version of the bible that is divinely inspired. The other bibles have flaws because of their connection with the catholics. The man is mentally ill big time. Remember the man is a fanatic.
