Most places I've been have asked, but that might just be to check that you're not using a stolen credit card. I suppose you could pay cash, or go to some really sleazy place.

Things are a little bit more lax here in the UK.
The hotels don't care who you are.
They just expect you to pay somehow.

So, a broken water pipe in the suite above where I was staying is evidence of my being a bad man and karma getting me, while the four people who quickly offered me a place to stay is not evidence of good karma, right? Sorry if we made assumptions, Rob. It's just kind of force of habit for us to assume that every misfortune that follows you is due to your freeman-related activities. It's been a fairly safe bet in the past.
