Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

She was found guilty of slander and trying to implicate an innocent man in the murder. Her sentence for that was increased from one to three years (probably why Sky and the Mail jumped the gun) but as she has served four she has done her time.

I'm not wholly convinced of their complete innocence in the matter but nor am I convinced of their guilt. In which case acquittal is the only way forward.

As Meredith's family have said, Meredith is the forgotten party in all this.

The irony of the false reporting of the "guilty" verdict should not be lost. It was those British papers and tabloids that help lead the way for her conviction, printing false and misleading information. They should be mocked.

Should we enjoy the meltdowns the guilters are suffering? That's a tougher question. There's no question that if anybody deserves it they do, in spades. The best of them are malignant idiots and the worst of them are beyond vile. But does anyone deserve to suffer? That's a deep question.

Although it's regrettable they weren't able to see the truth, I have nothing against the Kerchers or Patrick because they at least suffered a genuine injury. I have nothing but contempt, however, for Barbie, Pisa, Vogt, the English 'friends', Filomena, PMF, Coulter and the many other bystanders who supplied the kindling that was used to burn Amanda (and Raffaele) at the stake. Whatever insignificant indignities they must bear now are richly deserved.

Apparently, the Daily Mail accidentally posted the story they had written for a guilty verdict. Link dead now - hope someone got a screen shot :)

Are you serious? A 'Dewey Defeats Truman!' moment? What would it be?

'Foxy Knoxy BURNS!

--Loses appeal as a smoldering corpse

:p

I don't see how being happy that justice is served is gloating.

After the first trial nobody accused the Kerchers of gloating when they said they were pleased with the verdict.

The translator on that broadcast translated Hellmann's words to say that they were acquitted of murder because "the have not committed the crime". Anyone know if that is accurate? That would go beyond a "not-guilty" if true.

Indeed, that's what it appears to suggest. And if so, I'm very glad that Hellmann saw fit to include those words in his verdict. I had mused about this very thing a few days ago. (not wanting to blow my own trumpet hehe).

JREF appears to be moving at the speed of treacle at the moment, for obvious reasons - which is why there is so much cross-posting. But I think it's safe to say that the court's verdict has been a total vindication of our arguments here over the past few years. And I feel a quiet satisfaction that we were able to correctly understand, assimilate and reason from all the available facts.

Conversely, some individuals posting on the two main pro-guilt sites are truly showing their nasty, vindictive, misanthropic, hate-filled personalities at the moment. At least Michael has the grace to find a spurious reason to step away. But here are the disgusting views expressed post-verdict by some individuals; the first unpleasant quote is from "criminal defence solicitor" SomeAlibi:
There is truth and there are verdicts. You have to decide when they coincide.

I believe this is actually the beginning of a miserable period for the families of the acquitted which will last a very long time.
There will be a Higher Judgment for the druggie bully named Amanda Knox.

American $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ wins the day..... discusting (sic)!

Now Knox will flee and remain a fugitive the remainder of her life but Biff has to stick around in Italy to see what the Supreme Court says.
But they didn't stop. They stuck those knives in her neck.

And now they go free. It's really beyond the pale. Beyond the beyond.

Deanna is a cretin.

They are still so guilty. Lies have won?

This is a terrible day for justice because they certainly murdered Meredith.

The past four years have been interesting and educational. They have been a crash course into how to commit a rape and murder and get away with it.
I hope they are crucified in the court of public opinion.

And perhaps the single most disgusting post of all of them:
Amanda Knox beat the system. She has learned from those mistakes. It's a game Amanda will play now. There will be another victim.

Shame on each and every one of you who wrote those things. You are nasty and vindictive, as well as being stunningly misinformed and ignorant. I hope to never meet a single one of you.

Wow, just Wow. Did we crash the JREF server or something, been trying to bet signed in for 20 minutes now?

I am so happy for Raffaele and Amanda.

I think we did.I've tried to log in for 30 minutes now!:D

And yes, she's out of prison. I thought that day would never come!

Justice!!!

And yes, PMF is done. They lost it, again. Shame on them for such bad comments. Justice has been served!

And now for the recap.

Point #1) When you see a cockamamy charge involving a Satanic ritual murder, unless it's a guy like admitted Satin worshiper, Richard Ramerez, critical thinking demands one consider a prosecutor high on woo juice is more likely than two people with no history of being whack jobs actually committing murder for the thrill of it.

Point #2) Just because one claims to have DNA evidence does not automatically mean there really is objective scientific evidence in a case. You still need to use good critical thinking skills.

Point #3) Juries are not all critical thinkers and should not be presumed to be correctly deciding a case.

Point #4) The evidence is clear that false confessions are not hard for police to obtain. All it takes is badgering and enough time.

Point #5) Not all people convicted of serious crimes are actually guilty. Betsy Ross did not sew the first US flag and George WA did not chop down a cherry tree. We've been raised in the US on a lot of myths. As adults it's time to recognize that fact.

Even more so when you see the headline in tomorrow's Mail...

'Weeping Foxy is freed to make a fortune'

I wonder if they'll ever come around on Knox. That's gotta be a really tough, deep hatred to overcome, even if it's been proven that it was unfounded in the first place.

Good for Italy...

and especially good for Amanda and Raffaele. It took a while, but they finally got it right. Even the Kerchers showed class,

Good girl! :rub:

Rolfe.

I wish all the best to Amanda and Raffaele. I wish they find some peace, recover and heal from the psychological wounds they were dealt. I wish they rebuild their lives and find happiness.

Very well said....you expressed my sentiments exactly!

The long nightmare has ended. Now the healing begins.
