Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Just curious: Could the original trials of Amanda and Raffaele, or their appeals, have been severed into separate proceedings? I have no doubt that they were both railroaded, but it's hard to see how Raffaele could ever have been convicted except by association with Amanda.
 
What is the legal status of Knox's parents since they were also charged with bad mouthing the police? (sorry can't remember what the name of the charge is)
 
CNN said the decision would be revealed within 90 minutes.

They also said that a 4-4 split in voting by the jurists would be in favor of the defendant. The prosecution would need a 5-3 vote.

It all depends on whether the jurists think like PMFers or TJMKites or like JREF people.

They had Douglas Preston on Foxnews not long ago, and he brought up something that sounds ominous. People apparently believe that Mignini might well file 'jiggered' charges against Amanda and Raffaele if they stay in Italy. In other words, more or less the same charges, for the same murder, but done in accordance with Italian law which doesn't have double-jeopardy protection yet. Apparently he used the same trick on people in the Monster of Florence 'investigation,' the charges would be dismissed, he'd just file them again elsewhere, the 'master of the game.' It serves to harass and keep under his power the ones who displease him...

Megan Kelly at Fox News Channel reported same thing about 10 minutes ago - 2:10 PM EDT. She is a lawyer so I assume she had Preston's claim checked out before she reported it. If Mignini pulls this off (after the acquittal) and keeps AK in jail Hillary better be on the next plane to Italy!

I think the discussions will continue for a little while yet.

Will definitely ease off though IMO over the ensuing weeks.

Assuming the correct ACQUITTAL is announced. :D

I wouldn’t bet Fox News is all that careful. Sounds like a Inquirer story to me. If there is a determination of innocent Amanda will be in USA ASAP. Then Italy can two finger itself if they think they can ever get her back.
