I swear this crossed my mind. When I heard they delayed the verdict, I wondered if it had to do TV appearances and specifically wondered about Porta a Porta.

I wonder how much those lawyers get paid for appearances? Bet quite a bit for the FINAL appearance.

So what if it tortures the kids... They can wait.

For the prosecutor to urge the jury to convict on the grounds that the defendants will skip the country before the appeal they would pursue in that case is beyond ridiculous! What, there might be reasonable doubt about their guilt, but please convict anyway because we might have trouble getting them back for another appeal?

Is that what they're reduced to?

Saying that Amanda knew that Meredith had sex with a 'man of colour', and that this was why she accused Patrick, out of some kind of racism.
Saying that she has used the media (PR Supertanker) to manipulate the public.

All they're doing is literally taking their own moral and legal failings and re-framing them as Amanda's failings.
THEY (police / prosecution) were the ones who suspected Patrick, and the racial abuse of Patrick as he was taken into custody lends credence to the idea that they suspected him because he was black.
THEY used a credulous and dishonest media to spread lies, misinformation about Amanda Knox in order to smear her and contaminate the jury. The media has only 'turned' since the appeal started.

Lying liars. Morally corrupt. Supersticious throwbacks. Fools.

The retarded thing about this is that the prosecution want to act as if their investigation was as close to perfect as can be (admitting no major errors, and giving most involved medals). If they truly believed that, then it would be no problem getting Knox back from America if the prosecution won an appeal at the Supreme Court level. They have an extradition treaty and this is a straightforward crminal case (in that Amanda has no connections with American military, government etc).
In reality, they're worried that they might not get her back because they know what a shambles they've made of this case, and that there might be problems because of that.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't follow the reasoning behind the concern about AK/RS skipping the country: I assumed it was that they'd skip the country and murder again.

But I should have known better. Of course, the prosecution's key concern is getting another chance to take a whack at AK/RS.

I very much want to know how much money they're making on interviews and TV appearances.

Some of the racism and the reverse racism is all a bit surreal. The Kerchers are a mixed-race family, and Meredith was coloured. The obsequious fawning at PMF sometimes strikes me as reverse racism - "oh look at me I'm so politically correct I'm heaping praise on this wonderful, dignified, mixed-race family."

Maybe I'm wrong, but the smarm and slime coming out of that forum is beginning to get to me.

excuse a clip job, but reading the tweets and then here, you summed up my exact summary in the first line.

I think they're in denial, but it does make one ill feeling to imagine sitting there listening to this crap over and over, and the defense has been muted it seems.

Thanks Rose. This case is making me feel hopeless. And I'm only watching. The strength of Amanda and Raffaelle, their families, supporters and all of those on JREF and IIP calmly and resolutely speaking the truth, using reason and logic, are the saving graces of this whole situation.

If the verdict on Monday is anything less than full acquittal on all charges, then I'm going to have to get more involved in this. Fortunately, I'm coming up to the end of my PhD and will be able to devote more time to it, should this occur.
I'm still optimistic that there will be full acquittals, but when you have very powerful people at the centre of this prepared to say that black is white and up is down, I don't think this can be counted on.

Why's this case been loaded with madonna/whore baggage? Is it because Meredith and Amanda behaved differently or because Mignini has primitive stereotyped views about young women?
