Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

How is it going to be interesting when everyone from this thread is going to vote and the rest of the forum doesn't give a bugger about the case?

I turned my monitor on its side and you are now smiling at me. Disney is so cool!

Hey, my post had the same relevance to this thread as yours did. I thought you were the one always pointing that stuff out. That's weird!

People see things differently of course. This is how Michael at PMF Dottssa Net sees it:

The thing is, it doesn't get better for the defence from here. I think everyone on all sides agree (one of the few things everyone agrees on) that Sollecito's defence team is the A team, whereas Knox's is the B team. Bongiorno and her lot are the elite. They've given it their best shot...that was it...we've had it. All the defence have left to come is Amanda's team and well...enough said. In contrast, the prosecution's and Maresca's summing up was dynamite. It's looking pretty bleak for the lovebirds right now, it has to be said. It's reflected in the media as well...no longer are they trumpeting about how Amanda is coming home, those headlines have faded away, they are all suddenly unsure.

I will find it interesting. If they don't they won't vote. If they do they will to.

I bet you voted already. You are from this thread, as your are here, are you not? I am going to guess that you believe they will be found not guilty at this level.

It will be a large vote in favor of acquittal because of the reason I've stated

What, that almost nobody who doesn't participate in this thread will vote?

That's unlikely. When I started a poll about the Lockerbie verdict a lot of people showed up eager to express an opinion from a standpoint of knowing nothing at all about the case or the evidence. I think if there is a sizeable poll, and the drive-by sneer contingent is small, it will be very interesting.

I also take note that the forum zeitgeist in late 2009/early 2010 was that Knox was guilty. Nobody was banned for that opinion, and in my experience posters who slouch off in a sulk claiming bullying are actually reacting to having their arguments shredded repeatedly and in public.

So again, I think a vote in September 2011 will be interesting.

Rolfe.

I think Lionking is all hot and bothered because if they're acquitted he's made himself a conspiracy theorist per his own nonsensical principles.

We have a good idea the number of people who regularly post on this thread. We can gauge that against the numbers of votes on the poll. Time will tell. Obviously, this is not a scientific poll.

I sure hope he is, too; but as I don't know the man, how can I know he in not a spineless coward?

Well, for one you can look back at his record. Search in particular for a case in year 2000 where he is one of a panel of three judges who convened to overrule a murder charge that was confirmed by the Italian Supreme Court. Yep...it takes some balls to overrule the Supremes...but that’s what he did.

I wouldn't bother applying for the MDC if I were you. Your ability to read my mind is on par with the ability of others here to read Judge Hellmann's mind.

I think the result of the appeal is too close to call. I lack the zealous certainty of a number here.

Do you seriously think this thread has a monopoly on "zealous certainty"?

This was a desperate move. Last attempt of mistifying. "Right footprints" means the defence is desperate. The trial is over, Hellmann's court have decided already.

Most recent post at PMF.org.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you lion. As much as I want total exoneration for AK & RS, I think it is too close to call. I feel this way because I was certain a not guilty verdict would come in the first trial, and boy was I wrong.

Your oft repeated principles are here for everyone to see, if that's what you're referring to with the weak "mind reading" fall back you like to you use when you can't defend your nonsensical assertions and principles.

You've already said here, which I think most people very well remember A) you will accept whatever the verdict the court comes to (with a shrug of the shoulders) B) that if she is acquitted that will mean to you she is innocent (I made sure to clarify this point with you on this thread) and that C) it requires some sort of vast conspiracy by the police for Knox to be innocent.

So I don't have to read minds when its your own words that put you in that ridiculous position (that is assuming you believe anything you write in the first place).

If you still stand by A, B, and C, then yes, you are a conspiracy theorist. Blame yourself.

It's not zealotry - it's an inference reached from an objective assessment of all the facts.

Do you still think that there will have to have been some large, well-organised conspiracy amongst various law enforcement officers and agencies in order for Knox/Sollecito to be acquitted? Will you still hold that view once they have been acquitted?

Oh and just out of interest, what has led to your change of opinion to your current stated belief that "the result of the appeal is too close to call"? I ask because on June 21st of this year (only some three months ago, and after the appeal trial had been running for around seven months already), you answered a direct question of how you thought the appeal would turn out with the following response:

I think it will fail. I don't see any compelling new evidence not considered by the original trial. Calling on convicted murderers to support the appeal is an act of desperation in my opinion.

So what has led you to modify your opinion between then and now?

Tracey Thurman

Lionking,

You have argued against the possibility of a police conspiracy. what about the Tracey Thurman case? A commenter at Websleuths said, "I just watched the Tracey Thurman story last night. She sued Torrington CT police department for allowing her soon to be ex stab her and then jump on her head, in their presence. What led up to the attack was their supreme indifference to the RO she had. When officer after officer stepped onto the stand, they did just what you stated above. They denied any action that they took. They denied the things they said to her, they denied burying her file and they denied standing by while she was almost stomped to death. The jury found for her. They stated that 24 out of the 29 police officers violated her civil rights by being supremely indifferent." More on the case here.

Maybe a "too close to call" option on the poll would have been good. But then, the way it's set up forces a choice, which is interesting.

Nothing wrong with making a prediction. The poll is that a' way----->

That's the intent. No one has to be sure. I thought about a third option, but that is too boring. We're not psychics here. I just want people to make a prediction.

Love the Mignini quote. I noticed the avatar change as well, nice one. I had considered going to a pink Rose for my avatar to represent friendship and good thoughts for Raffaele but I felt that it would be taken the wrong way.

Dont do it! I love Milla!!!
