Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

I simply don't expect Meredith to have defensive slashes on her hands or forearms like she got into a knife fight in a dark alley, because the situation was different. When you see someone trying to stab you, you will block it, but she most probably allowed Guede to put a knife at her throat and immobilise her arms (maybe with the sweatshirt). Simple as that.

She wasn't expecting the stabbing and her hands were either restrained or grabbing Guede's hand, which was on her mouth. He plunged the knife suddenly. The slight cuts on her hands are consistent with trying to stop such thrusting, not slashing motion, if anything.

Defence will certainly have Dr. Lalli's and their experts detailed opinions to support the single attacker scenario.

I have no problem in with you are saying KM,

but to say my hypothesis is unnecessary is where we will have to agree to disagree, and hope you are right and I am wrong (like I told LJ above).

I just hope Amanda and Raffaele's lawyers do a better job this time around at least compared to the first time. These kids need to get out of jail sooner then later.

In my opinion anyway,

Dave

Definitely.

Thanks for posting the link - Maresca the Weasel has really outdone even himself. :eye-poppi

So why do you think Hellmann allowed this disgraceful display of photographs? If he was even thinking of aquitting the defendants don't you think he would have refused to allow such photos into open court? The only reason I can think of for him to permit the showing of such graphic material is because he is not going to aquit. I hope I am wrong.

Good lord, I have been thinking the same thing...:(

I don't know anything about the publication though - could be some right wing rag.

I don't think political views have anything to do with one's opinion on the guilt or innocence of AK/RS (despite Coulter's rant) although that might make an interesting poll.

I also think this particular poll is a scam because I voted and then my kid voted (from her flat, on her computer) and it shows the same total number of votes (1405).

So many lies...

-

so little time.

Here is my opinion of what the defense should do:

Get coordinated and plan a schedule that at least includes doing four things:

1) In the beginning, the first lawyer to speak tomorrow should list one by one the lies told by the prosecution and civil litigant lawyers and showing (after each individual lie) where (page number) in the Massei motivational report it is proven to be a lie and what the report actually says about each lie specifically.

2) After each item, make it a point to say, if they are willing to lie to this court and to you about this to prove their case, what else are they also willing to do to "win" their case? Say this after you disprove each lie.

3) They have lied about all these things to prove their case, now how does this help get "true" justice for Meredith? Now keeping in mind all the lies they've already told, let's look at other things they've said that have reasonable explanations for them other than guilt etc. etc.

4) Visual aids beat audio almost every freakin' time. Just before the rebuttal, show the videos of the gift-wrap mop parade, sink swab, and finally the bra clasp pick up.

Personally if I was in charge and could get away with it, I would do a double-time speed up of the mop gift-wrap (by "mistake" of course). Anyone here ever see or remember the Seinfeld episode where Peterman catches Elaine eating his $10,000 cake on video?

And then end everything with the comment, "if Amanda is a witch (show the picture of the witch from the Wizard of Oz), then what is Dr. S?" and then put the worst picture of Dr S up side by side to the WofOz witch.

They'd probably never be able to get away with it, but DAMN wouldn't that be AWESOME!!!

I hope you are wrong too!

Not sure why he allowed it and he has also allowed the despicable character assassination by the others too BUT hopefully, it won't make much difference in his take on the trial. I am not au fait with how the Italian court system works and what is allowed etc, so perhaps some of this garbage is actually the norm? (Or at least accepted).

I'm still fairly confident (though not as much as LondonJohn) but I do feel that the defence need to put up a much better showing this time around. IF they do, Amanda and Raffaele should soon be free.

Agreed BUT remember that only the prosecution has had its turn thus far. The defence is about to present to the court so, hopefully, public opinion will swing further towards innocence. The above is only one poll anyway and certainly not indicative of true public feeling IMO.

Time for the defence to earn their pennies and destroy the farcical prosecution presentations...

It appears that this stuff is the norm. But that doesn't mean that the jury has to accept it as proof of guilt.

Eh, they're already squawking about his experts and appealing it to the Supreme Court, why give them something more to squawk about? Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves. That's what it sounds like the Jackal did...

At this point the defense has not made any presentation. It's natural to be swayed by the prosecution.

When the PGP spend there time discussing MM, the bath mat footprint and the lawyers there are sleazy I think it speaks to a weak case.

The bath mat print clearly is weak in and of itself and becomes even weaker when put in context. Supposedly A 7 R cleaned the cottage to get rid of their evidence but left the print AND showed it to the police.

I remain a lone advocate for attacking the interrogation which I believe to be the lynch-pin of the entire case. Without the knife and bra not only is the evidence circumstantial but not even directly tied to the kids. The luminol prints are barely footprints much less matching them.

Combine the basic weakness of the minimal evidence and the shoddy police work one would think that would be enough to convict.

The witch trial introduced today will work against conviction. As this simmers through the news and people come to realize that Perugia is holding the first witch trial since the 17th Century they will be appalled.
