Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Nonsensical. So there are knives "plural", when the kitchen knife has been shown to have no blood, was not cleaned, and does not match the wounds or the imprint on the sheet.

A statement about Knox being given "tea and pastries" when you have zero evidence this actually happened. Oh, the police said so! I guess it must be true then! I guess everything the police say is true, how dare anyone question any of it!

What took you so long to get to this great web site.
Must been having to look for big eats in NYC. :D
These people on this web site are more educated then me.
So have lots of fun and real input to your Qand A

So, now that they're offering another set of control documents, I guess we know that the set that they tried to give Hellmann last time (the illegible ones, with the wrong code numbers) were not what the prosecution held them out to be. That won't escape Hellmann's notice.

Some Italian commentaries seem to say: "brace yourself"

google trans:

If the court will vindicate the second inspection this will be a blow to our judicial system, because everything else is likely to assume the character of evidence: evidence that has imprisoned for four years, two possibly innocent. If Amanda and Raffaele will be cleared, our justice will be seen as a machine steamroller used lightly and has played with the lives of two boys. For its part, Knox said: "I have faith in Italian justice. Counting on this process because I want to leave the nightmare of Appeals. "

It's interesting that idle commentators now see Italian justice being placed in a new perspective of playing with the lives of two young boys.
I'd imagine that Amanda, if offered the chance to be seen as a young boy over a sexual fiendess, would choose the fomer over the latter.
Mignini may decide to use this option for a new murder' theory. (I guess anything would do at this stage)

If my editing priviledges included being able to get that extra 'they' out of my previous post I'd be a happier idle commentator...

In italian, two girls are called "ragazze", two boys are called "ragazzi", and when it's a single boy and any number of girls it's called "ragazzi" (masculine plural). This gets translated to "boys" in english, but the context needs to be considered, and in this case it would be something like "youngsters" or "young adults".

Hi everyone,

If anyone else has any comments about this theory, please chime in.
Any other pro-guilt theories or timelines out there?
How's about you, Pilot Padron? Got 1?
If so, please share it, I'd luv to read it.
Thanks in advance,
RW

A prosecutor also told the court she had retrieved the original raw data from the DNA work carried out on the bra clasp and a knife believed to be the murder weapon that had been requested by lawyers for the defence.

"We found them in a garage," she told the court, adding: "We believe they are admissible to the court."

How can this be true, in a garage??

The most visible case in Perugia's history and the most critical evidence in the case. The DNA data asked for numerous times by the courts and defense, and recently extremely focused on since Judge Hellman chose the review of the DNA. And now the few sheets of paper show up "found" in the garage.

It will be difficult for the prosecution, now being caught in a lie, and then trying to recover credibility, so Commodi's job will be tough for the prosecution.

But at the end of the day, the Knife was found to be uncleaned and had no blood on it. (and even Stefanoni agree's there was no blood found on it).

I suppose we could just sit back and wait while the Perugian courts work that one out.
I'm sure that would waste a considerable part of our lives.

Unbelievable, whether you think they are innocent or not. Well, postpone or exonerate must be the only option. How could a court of law in any country accept evidence of guilt after a four trial process, when it's not properly examined?

If Hellmann doesn't postpone to examine, how can he convict?

Very scarce reports about Steffi's appearance. They say she tried to make a Fidel Castro length speech, to avoid the questions, but Hellmann finally stopped her. I hope Frank Sfarzo was in the courtroom and will update us.

That must've been entertaining! Where do you get the updates?

I really do hope we will get some really good summaries of what went down today. The waiting for updates is killing me. I, honestly, got back from work and I've done nothing besides of eating some chicken and sitting in front of my laptop.

Maybe Hellman's apprehensive she might try to derail and delay this court room too, as she did Masseis'.
Then again, what else does she have to say she hasn't already stated over the past 4 yrs.? Her testimony all too predictable, there's nothing new for her to add.

extremely curious how she would be "handled". Being told to stop rambling no doubt by the Judge is very telling...

There's so much missed from not being at the courtroom and hearing the tones and body gestures, facial expressions. Hopefully, Frank can find time to write a lot of articles this month.

There are quite a few reports of Stefanoni's appearance in court. I think she is questioned first by Comodi and I am not certain she has yet been questioned by the defense attorneys. If Stefanoni avoided questions I doubt it would have been those from Comodi. Maybe she was first giving a lesson on forensics before being questioned by Comodi?

Here is one of many articles concerning Stefanoni's appearance (as the day ends there will probably be more information as the articles update):

Interesting arguments coming from C&V today

If you follow the answers during cross examination today, especially those elicited by the extremely effective Maresca, they lead to a rather alarming conclusion:.

...the arguments C&V are falling back on would essentially in fact rule out the use of DNA as evidence in any trial and nullify all past convictions in the world that ever used DNA evidence.:eye-poppi

But since the *professors* really have little or no experience in the real world of trials, I suppose they do not realize the practical implications of the scholarly academic paper they produced with the help of the Missouri Highway Patrol Handbook.

And then the shocking admission that they found their own dna on the bra clasp.:eye-poppi

This also says quite a bit about how well C&V are holding up when finally being exposed to a few questions from the other side

I just saw Babs Nadeau on MSNBC. She made a couple of comments of interest:

1) Amanda has a 50/50 chance of being acquitted on appeal (she seemed to be extrapolating this from her other comment that 50% of cases in Italy are overturned on appeal)
2) That sentences in lots of cases in Italy are changed. She then used the example of Rudy G's sentence being reduced to 16 years.

On #2 especially, isn't this a bogus comparison? It is my understanding that Rudy's sentence was automatically reduced due to his opting for the fast track process. That has nothing to do with Amanda and Raffaele's trial.

You left out this bit of information.

"Vecchiotti said that apart from the victim's DNA, she had found small traces of at least 17 other people, including Sollecito and herself - presumably as a result of her being the one who carried out the most recent tests."

note: the presumption is wrong as no DNA was found on the clasp when it was retested.

17 people on the bra clasp, including one of the professors! It's not looking too good for the prosecution's case, is it?
