Santorum; I need more cash to fight the spread of Santorum.

Not sure if you all saw Real Time last Friday, but that was what caused this latest little tiff between Santorum and Savage. Finally there is a youtube up of the segment from 7-15-11.
He does make some "over the top" comments about Savage like, "I sometimes think about *********** the **** out of Santorum" and "let's bone that Santorum". The main quote is around 2:50, but for the backstory, maybe 1:20.

If I were in Mr. Santorum's shoes, I wouldn't bother trying to stifle attempts to spread that misuse of my name. Such efforts are futile anyway. Rather, I would wave this fact like a banner, and say, “This is the kind of people who are opposed to me. This is the best argument they can come up with against me. This is what they consider to be reasonable behavior.”

In your opinion, what argument would best be suited to counter the venomous hatred of an irrational bigot?

On second thought, you're probably not the best person to ask...

Does anyone really believe that this man, Santorum, actually lets these kids any where near the internets? Remember, they are being brainwashed educated at Home. From the way they dress, think Little House on the Prarie with ugly kids, it appears the Bible may be their only textbook.

well, they are only home schooled because he got caught ripping off the school district they were enrolled in.

every time santorum is in the news for something it reminds me of how great it felt to vote him out of office. one of my great victories as an american voter.

Same here. Though I blame your half of the state for voting him in in the first place.

It seems to me that this use of the word “Santorum” tells us nothing of any relevance about Mr. Santorum himself. What it does tell us about is the low character of some of his enemies.

Such antics as this only demonstrate how degraded those individuals are who engage in them. Rather like someone we all know who—being totally devoid of any useful arguments or points to make—is usually reduced of calling those he disagrees with such names as “drongos” or “larvae”.

Played the right way, the sort of tactic being used against Santorum could go a lot farther toward discrediting those who engage in it than it could ever hope to go against the one against whom such tactics are being attempted.

Ann Coulter refers to liberals as Demonic and engaging in Treason (those are titles from two of her books about liberals). Right-wing talk show hosts refer to President Obama as the Kenyan.

So here's my offer, Mr. Blaylock, as soon as you denounce Ann Coulter for her name calling, I'll denounce Dan Savage for his name calling.

i am going to go out on a limb here and say that there were probably more votes against santorum cast in my county that most of the rest of the state any time he ran, so you might be off base there.

I feel sorry for his kids, they'll probably end up changing their last name. Look what happened to the Dooshbag family and the Dipshitz family. Someone started using their family name pejoratively and suddenly no one wants to be Dooshbags or Dipshitz anymore.

Oh I completely might be. I have zero evidence to back up my assertion. I'm just asserting a Pittsburgher's right to talk smack on someone from Philly.

YOUR FAULT!!

;):D

I actually lived in that schmuck's congressional district before he went for the Senate; I remember when he defeated Walgren. (I was too young to vote, though.)

While it's interesting to discuss whether or not the santorum redefinition is politically savvy, or reflects well on Savage, or whatever, I think the important things to remember are that it's clever, hilarious and thoroughly well-deserved.

This ^

And that Rick Santorum is a whiny little baby.

So that's where joobie gets the avator from.

Nice, I wonder what she was all perclempt about?

Why do Santorum's children need to Google him to find out information on him?

Also, they apparently don't know his first name, if they're just googling by the last.

Good point.

Personally I'm more concerned with the character of the elected representatives of this country, when Savage is elected to a position of power I'll start worrying about his character more. The simple fact that the man stated only persecution of homosexual acts through sodomy laws is preventing the collapse of the modern nuclear family makes him considerably more vile and loathsome than anything Savage has said about him thus far. And I quote

In this case, what we're talking about, basically, is priests who were having sexual relations with post-pubescent men. We're not talking about priests with 3-year-olds, or 5-year-olds. We're talking about a basic homosexual relationship. Which, again, according to the world view sense is a a perfectly fine relationship as long as it's consensual between people. If you view the world that way, and you say that's fine, you would assume that you would see more of it.

Aside from implying the utterly discredited notion that liberals are bastions for moral relativism (which assumes the only alternative to divine command morality is moral relativism), he flatly stated he does not believe individuals in the US have a right to privacy. Furthermore, he clearly believes that what goes on inside the bedroom is absolutely the business of the government. Why are welfare programs examples the slide into a socialist nanny-state but support for laws and sting operations designed to enforce the morality dictated by the invisible sky magician are not examples of the US slide into a totalitarian theocracy? If acceptance of homosexuality is destroying America why is enforcing sodomy laws not a step towards building an empty throne for Christ on Capital Hill?

Such antics as this only demonstrate how degraded those individuals are who engage in them. Rather like someone we all know who—being totally devoid of any useful arguments or points to make—is usually reduced of calling those he disagrees with such names as “drongos” or “larvae”.

Lefty may be over the top and in many cases out of line but nothing I've seen him say on these forums in any way shape or form is worse than what Santorum has said in the past. Let's take Hurricane Katrina, for instance, where he blamed people for not getting out on time and suggested they be fined or otherwise penalized legally for it. Then he backpeddled and blamed the National Weather Service for not issuing warnings while having previously sponsored legislation that would've made such warning illegal so that private-sector weather services wouldn't have to compete with the NWS.

Not to mention, as Jon Stewart recently pointed out, the tragic case of congressman Cleveland D. Steamer.

I have to say that from what I know of this matter so far I'm going to have to go with Santorum as being the least bad of the two. I agree with whoever said that Santorum could work this to his advantage. Savage behavior has given Santorum the moral high ground IMO, which on this matter is pretty hard to do.

It would have been mitigated somewhat if Savage had used ricksantorum instead of santorum. Now not only is Rick Santorum's family slurred but anyone anywhere with the name Santorum is too.
