Gaza blockade in reverse: Hamas fortifies Egyptian border against Libyan infiltrators

Gaza blockade in reverse: Hamas fortifies Egyptian border against Libyan infiltrators

(see photo in article) Smuggled cars in Gaza, still with Libyan plates

While complaining to the world about the Israeli and Egyptian blockade of the Gaza Strip, four days ago, Hamas began building fortifications to block the territory's western boundary with Egyptian Sinai, DEBKAfile's military sources report. Hamas is said to be anxious to ward off the spillover of post-revolutionary chaos from Egypt and Sinai into the Gaza Strip and curtail the new influx of fighters and smugglers from Libya and Sinai Bedouin affiliated with al Qaeda. These groups have gone into the smuggling tunnel business on their own account and are causing mayhem.

These infiltrators are being housed by the "Army of Islam" (Al Qaeda affiliates) in the Gaza Strip and provided with shelter and food in the refugee camps around Gaza City. Hamas blames them for the resurgence of rocket fire into Israel in violation of the informal ceasefire agreed with Israel four months ago.

What is good for the Goose....

It's a good question. It's not being told "This is what you'll get and you'll like it".
What's interesting about that, is that they don't seem to be attacking Iraq, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia, who all took land from the Mandate. Only Israel. One must wonder why that is.

Iraq? That's quite a way from where the Palestinians lived. The Syrian "King" had to quickly decamp to Iraq, the British moving of chess pieces failed miserably there. The Palestinians did more or less set up a state within a state in Jordan, which resulted in a bloody battle.

There's a good precedent for responsible and enlightened Palestinian statehood.

BD's one-sentence post was "I think Hamas are freedom fighters".

Here is a one-sentence post: "I think the KKK are freedom fighters".

Here is another one-sentence post: "I think the Nazis are freedom fighters".

Please tell me how I am "oversimplifying" if I say I think #1 here shows support for Hamas, just like #2 and #3 show support for the KKK and the Nazi party.

Of course I'm being unfair to the KKK -- compared to Hamas and the Nazi party, they're practically pacifists.

the kkk and the nazis were/are not freedom fighters.
they are not struggling against a repressive nation.

frankly, i'm not sure why i even bother replying to you anymore.
you seem to post nothing but emotionally charged rants anymore.
...and with that, a lot of nonsense.

the beaver people, during our long association.
i helped them fight a land claim issue several years ago.
i did buy the land years ago, from the previous 'owner'. (an absentee land lord)
and i plan to pass it on to my step-daughter, in keeping with beaver custom.

So you're living on your own land, not Indian land.

Gotcha.

ETA: inheriting land is Beaver custom?

First of all, the Nazis and the KKK most definitely DO consider themselves fighters against the evil opressive folks who are destroying the Aryan race. Somehow you don't believe them, but you DO believe Hamas. Besides, if Hamas is such a fighter against opression, why is Gaza a one-party theocratic dictatorship?

Second, you missed the point of my analogy. The point is that when you call Hamas "freedom fighters" this is support for them -- just like calling the KKK "freedom fighters" or the Nazis "freedom fighters" would be support for them. So why do you keep saying you don't support Hamas? You openly do. You don't support the KKK or the Nazis, but who said you do?

History's dirty little secret that the anti-Israel left don't want you to know:

Palestinians were better off under Israeli occupation.

They were three times richer.

Life expectancy went up.

They were ruled by a less corrupt civil administration.

They had more freedom than under the Arafat gangsters.

Israel brought in millions in investments. They built roads, water treatment plants, TV stations and other infrastructure. Tourism flourished.

Palestinians could cross the border and work in Israel. Earning good wages.

The Palestinians gave it all up in the Intifada.

A Palestinian state would be a corrupt Arab dictatorship. Everyone knows this. But we're told to want one anyway.
