Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

I think this comment goes to show how badly out of touch and how seriously damaging to the Kercher family Maresca is. Not only has he blantantly resorted repeatedly to using ad hominem attacks against anyone that dares support RS and AK, to the point where he could be facing his own libel suit, he is so tied up in his own confirmational bias that he can't even see what is right in front of him.

I could understand it from the police or a prosecutor, but form someone that is supposed to be there to represent the victim and help discover the truth, Maresca repeatedly attempted to hide the truth and prevent it from coming out. It's clear he doesn't care about real justice being done in this case, and that reflects back on the very family he should be helping to find the truth, good or bad. Maresca shouldn't have a dog in the fight, his job is to make sure the truth is found, whatever it is, so that the family can learn that truth and move on. Instead all he is after is to lock away RS and AK regardless of what the evidence really says. What a sad little man.

I find Maresca extremely suspicious in his so-called search for the truth.
His actions are not in line at all about respecting the courts and the process, it seems. Especially lately he seems to becoming more vocal and crass.

I notice he is being quoted more and more in articles today also. More vocal than the Appeals Prosecutor (name?) and Mignini.

Francesco Maresca, the lawyer for Ms Kercher's family, said after learning of the report: "We are surprised and stunned by such a categorical judgment." He added that he would seek an explanation for "such drastic conclusions".

"We were surprised by the categorical nature of these assessments," said Francesco Maresca. The lawyer, quoted by ADN Kronos, maintains that "there is other proof that shows the guilt of the two accused parties."

My whole personal belief is that Knox did kill her daughter. From what I've seen on the news, she has no emotion, I know that if I were going on trial for killing a child I would be in scared out of my mind. You don't even see fear in her eyes, her face, in her anything. I hope they find her guilty and give the death penalty. If you kill a child, you know exactly what you are doing. That's one of the most hanous crimes anyone could do. If you kill someone else's child you deserve to die. If you kill your own child...... No words can express the discust I have. There's a very special place in hell for people like her.

As far as I know, she was innocent before she murdered Meredith Kercher. Unless you have information on other crimes.

Well ... there was this party in Seattle where she was lucky to get off with a fine instead of a felony convction for causing a near riot or something according to the Daily Mail [ a quality source for facts on the case if ever there was one].

I like the way Rudy, when faced with the prospect of being eye to eye with Raff in court, came up with the new shadows story.

I agree, and the fact that Knox did not report her baby missing for a month does not bode well.

What other proof is there that shows Amanda and Raffaele were even present when Meredith was murdered?

not sure what you mean

LEDrexel,

Are you speaking of Amanda Knox or Casey Anthony? Knox was tried for killing her roommate, but Anthony is on trial for killing her daughter. From everything I have seen and heard Amanda Knox has gotten worn down by her imprisonment and trial. She cried on several occasions after Meredith's murder. Many criticized her for smiling (at her friends) during the first trial. I think she may be holding her feelings in more this time around. MOO.

Umm..... You don't seem to have the right case at all. Firstly, AK and RS are on trial for killing Amanda's house-mate, Meredith Kercher, not Amanda's daughter. Second, as this trial is in Italy, they don't have the death penalty.

Hi everyone...

-

this is my first post to JREF and I (and my roommate who plays devil's advocate to my theories) could not think of a better day (or thread) on which to make it.

We (me and my roommate) have always been on the fence about this case, but the lack of any evidence in the room of Knox (and the ToD too) have always leaned us towards innocence, but we wish to ask everyone here a favor in memory of Meredith..

This is her day more than anyone elses and rightfully so. She died horribly, and then Mignini added insult to injury when he implied she died of a sex-orgy gone wrong.

Please everyone, bow your heads in silent memory of Meredith, and pray also for the Knox and Sollecito families that one day they (and the Kerchers) can come together in love and in memory of Meredith,

Dave (and Caty)

P.S. hope we posted this right.

1. Court conviction - it's what courts are there for

You're welcome

Great! The old "argument from authority" approach. And so all jury decisions are correct and no guilty verdict is ever overturned? Right.... BTW - By extension of your logic the 1995 not guilty verdict in the the case of The State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson must be unassilable as well.

This is a wonderful post. Too often in the heat of the discussion and the cauldron of debate, it's forgotten that it's also real people's lives. I hate to think what Meredith would have thought of the actions of the Perugia Police and the way they and the courts have treated people who were her friends. I also would hate to know what she would have thought of Maresca and his actions on her behalf.

If the trial continues the way it has been going, and the ToD and Computer logs play out as suspected, then hopefully AK, RS and the Kercher family can finally put this ugly and sorry incident behind them, grieve for Meredith, and be able to move on with their lives knowing that the real killer is in jail. It's just a shame he won't be there for the lifetime he deserves.

Thank you Phantom,

We like to think that Meredith whispered in Hellman's ear from heaven, "please have someone recheck the DNA evidence. Please."

What can we say but that we're romantics at heart,

Dave (and Caty)
