Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

From the number of posts you've made, wondering how the mistranslation was made, surely you are going to call Sky London, who you are apparently so familiar with?.

There seems to be some posters on this board who wouldn't pay the price of a stamp or the price of a phone call to further our understanding of the case?. Perhaps, their opinions (or perhaps I should say agendas) should be weighed accordingly?

I've only made one post wondering (idly) how and why the mistranslation occurred. For me, my interest in the whole thing ended once I had satisfied myself that the translation was indeed incorrect. Which didn't take very long for anyone with half-decent research skills.....

But anyway, enough about me - how about you?! How did your calls to Sky and your mate go? Or you can tell me that you didn't actually make them, and we can put the whole thing to bed :)

Another thought:

It was rather miserable that they walk in their superwitness Guede to bring the "crushing accusation" and he just clams up and sits there, while mignini has to read his lousy letter.
Really was that a surprise? Today was a repeat of the trial! Let’s not forget that it was the judge that called Guede to court today not the defence or prosecution.

Thoughtful over on PMF translated the Skype conversations, a day or two ago.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guede defense was that the fought with a guy who fitted the description of RS, down to his accent ... not local, not northern (i.e. southern like RS).

He claimed to have heard AK's voice and see her at the front door and again saw her 'outline' at the gate (from Filomena's window). Vague, but enough to finger AK and RS as being present at the crime scene.

In the Skype conversation, when Giacomo asked whether Knox killed Meredith, he said 'No, non c'entra un cazzo' ... No, she had sod all to do with it.

AK retreating to the front door and then the gate, fits her claim that she was in the kitchen with her fingers in her ears as the murder happened. RS has never said anything, but the DNA suggests that only Guede and Solletico were in the murder room.

Ooh, this is interesting. Where in the Skype conversation with Benedetti does Guede say that the man he grappled with had a Southern Italian accent, or indeed any accent at all? And where does he refer to Knox, other than that the person ringing the doorbell might have been her (illogically)?

Why surprise? Predictable, rather. As predictable as Maresca jumping to Guede's help in his "quest for truth" "on behalf" of his clients.

Kevinfay,

Guede had more stories than Elizabeth Taylor had husbands. Guede first said that the assailant was short and left-handed. It was months before he starting hinting that it was Raffaele, IIRC. Candace Dempsey had some questions that she would like to ask Rudy.

My best buddy is Tony Shargool, who was the boss of Sky Music Italia.

After you have confirmed with Sky that the translation should have been 'me and raff stayed at his place all night' instead of 'we all went out and got drunk', I'll be giving Tony and his pals a piece of my mind.

So as it's now been confirmed that the translation was wrong, what did your best buddy Tony and his pals have to say when you gave them a piece of your mind? I'm sure I'm not the only one desperate to hear.

Of course I could just bypass your best buddy Tony (who used to be the boss of Sky Music Italia) and go to the brand leaders MTV to see what they think, if you feel that would be more helpful?

Sorry, but that is simply what you hope the review of the evidence will show, we'll know more in a few days

No, that's what rational thinking tells.
You can add a disclaimer that bra clasp shows Raffaele and quite a few other people were in the murder room on a magic flying carpet. You wouldn't be farther from the truth then in your initial mistake.

Fascinating. Have you got anything to add to the actual debate? Or are you now exclusively specialising in wise-crack one-liner witticisms related to the arguers rather than the arguments?

So you assume when I say "CTer", I'm referring to you? Fascinating.

BTW, there is no "debate". Amanda Knox did it.

Really; how many other people, do you have names etc?

Oh, don't you start as well....... ;)

Where did I suggest that you were referring to me?

What material is that large effigy of a man positioned right next to you made out of again? It looks from over here like it's the dried stalks of cereal plants, but I can't be entirely certain.....

Probably didn't have to offer Guede much to get him to contradict himself - again. Maybe a subscription to a magazine that all serial killers are known to love.

Was Mignini in the court today? Didn't he produce the letter that supposedly Guede wrote?

Why didn't the defense know about the letter? Doesn't the prosecution have to disclose all evidence?

Just one more example of how this is a kangaroo court. I thought it was getting better, but I'm not sure now.

In an American court, all the evidence against Amanda would have been thrown out - as far as I know.

Get ready for a bunch of abusive posts and very abusive PMs.

I wonder how many of those (s)he's received? I'm going to take a guess at very few, as most of us who don't think Knox (or Sollecito, but TCS likes to gloss over him) should be convicted are rational sceptics who evaluate claims based on evidence and logic.

Therefore if someone wades in with an unsubstantiated little assertion such as "Amanda Knox did it", most of us know that there's no point wasting the time or energy to debate that assertion with the person who made it. In the same way, I wouldn't engage someone in a debate if their opening gambit was something like "Elvis isn't dead - he's living in a cave in North Dakota".

Not a good idea to announce your intentions in advance, in my opinion. If you can hold off on the abuse I think we'd all appreciate it. Thanks.

Try to keep up Matthew. I was speaking of the abuse someone gets if they dare to even suggest that Saint Amanda of Perugia is guilty.
