I'm speaking to you yrreg, DOC, Epix, Kumar and all the other theists.

Please take some time to sit down, think about this well for a while before you stampede to type, and explain:

1) Which God or Gods (And name each one of them) do you believe in and why?

2) Which God or Gods do you not believe in and why?


Do not write anything else that doesn't address these two questions. Don't tell me about how you think atheists are a bunch of boring pricks, don't tell me about how you once saw The Matrix and now how come this isn't a virtual reality simulation, blablabla. Sorry, I have to be really strict here to make sure you don't diverge into some meaningless 10.000 characters post that doesn't really address the topic. We already have the Timecube for laughing purposes, don't bring that in here. Remain on topic. Otherwise, I will report those posts that derail this thread.
 
No believers yet. No surprise. Answering your questions honestly would reveal how silly their belief in one particular god is.

1) “I believe in the one true god. His name is God. He told me to believe in him. (in fact he demands I do . . . or else!)”

2) “There are no other true gods to believe in or not. Beliefs in other gods are merely wrong beliefs of the one true God.”

Well yrreg, DOC, Epix, Kumar and other theists, how did I do? Would these pretty much be your answers?

That seemed pretty close. Lets see what they will think.... that is, if they ever decide to show their faces here.
 
I think our cat believes in Bast, but he's reluctant to discuss his beliefs.

All of the others, because they were born of superstitious fear and perpetuated by the priest class for no other purpose than their own empowerment and enrichment.
 
The answer to this thread is likely to fit the same pattern as "Who is your favorite sports team, and why?"
 
Ron, please take some time to sit down, think about what you wrote for a while, read the responses you've gotten, and ask yourself why any theist would go anywhere near this thread.

Since no theist has yet responded my questions, there is nothing to sit down and ponder. It seems pretty obvious that when it comes to answering a question honestly, without derailing the thread, no theist is willing to do it. But I will keep waiting for one of them to prove me wrong and answer these questions honestly.

Are you a theist? Do you want to tackle the question? Or do you want to engage in silly rhetorical games and derail my thread? Feel free to, and you will be reported.

I asked my wife about this once, but she's one of those honest theists so her answer was something like "I believe it because of my parents and how I was brought up. If I was born in India Id be a hindu". She openly admits that her religiosity is a direct result of indoctrination and that she has no logical reason for her beliefs.... but her beliefs are relatively harmless so it doesnt bother her and she feels no compulsion to question any of it.

There is a limit on the size of posts in this forum that would make this question impossible to answer.

Have you any idea how many gods have actualy been proposed over the centuries?
