Interestingly Costagliola requested Guede's buddy Giacomo Benedetti - the guy of the Skype call. But didn't Rudy tell Giacomo exactly the same he told in Viterbo, that AK and RS were not there?
I bet Mignini is not very glad with Costagliola taking the controls :)

Maresca
--------

Well, Maresca has forced me to update my scheduled trip to Siena and Perugia, starting 1st July.

We'll be arriving at Firenze Porta Santa Maria Novella Station before heading south to Siena.

I feel that I have no option but to leave a note at the reception to his office, reading:

******* GOOD ON YER KID !!!

Edited by jhunter1163:
Moderated content removed.

He first had that disgusting pervert running for cover with shame, and then reduced the Cammora slob to an incoherent, pathetic, raging, non-entity ... which we all know he is.

All this, without there being any need for a lynch mob to show how civilized people think of them ! .... reason enough for the Kerchers to hire him?.

Concurrently, he is looking after the civil suit, which simply means that murderers will not profit from their crimes, through book deals, film rights etc.

I checked ealier to see if the audio tapes are available on Corriere del Umbria and unfortunately they were not .. we simply must get hold of them somehow?. Action on me? ... more than happy to do it !!! ..... must have been an interesting day, we're clean out of coffee and the cigarettes are running low here!!

And while you are at it kevin I suppose you will wish him luck in his attempt to protect his buddy Rudy from being asked any question other than if he spoke to Alessi,if you do get to talk to Maresca maybe you would ask him if he got the permission of Tommaso Onofri's parents for his little stunt today
Why do you think Maresca will not turn up in court on the 27 of june with a picture of Meridith Kercher demanding that Rudy tell the court and the world how she died,BTW he is already on record demanding Rudy only be asked if he spoke to Alessi

Billy,

Would you like to join us on the trip .... I'm sure everyone is dying to meet you ? (No pun intended).

Cost-ag-liola, I will remember that name from now on!

That is a very good point Katody, not much has been heard about him since I became interested in this issue. How exactly did he get involved? I have a vague memory I read somewhere the police called him in and he talked to Rudy over the Skype at the behest of the cops and set him up to be captured in Germany, after chatting with him about the murder for a while, something like that?

Was he in contact with Rudy before that? Conversations the police would not have overheard or have records of?

'Trip' sounds dull, perhaps if it was a 'parade' there would be more interest.

Monica Napoleoni is being recalled as a witness, witness to what I don't know, according to Frank Sfarzo without her the trial would never have taken place, she was forced to return as a witness after Curatolo and according to the grapevine she lied through her teeth,Mignini has, what he thought was off the record, being critical of the emotional female police officers,I wonder is she being lined up as the scape goat

Am I missing something? What I found at Frank's site had nothing to do with either the proceeding reported elsewhere about the murder trial, but about her slander trial and the Sollecitos trial about the Telenorbo telecast.

It is difficult to say exactly what Rudy told Giacomo during the Skype call - it was a long talk and Rudy said so many things and the things he said were very confusing.

Didn't Giacomo also visit Rudy in jail?

I recall the senior Newsweek reporter who said of the Duke lacrosse case (in an article in the American Journalism Review) words to the effect, "The narrative was right, but the facts were wrong."

Reminds one of another Newsweek contributor, doesn't it? (One whose modus operandi is to round everything to the nearest cynical cliché.)

I think I will give it a miss Kevin,Italy with its mafiosa, kangaroo courts, despicable record of human rights violations, corrupt police, no freedom of the press is a bit to like Afghanistan while the Taliban were in power for my liking

Audio Tapes
------------

Still can't find them on the newspapers website. I wonder if they record all of the hearings, for their own use, but only post a selected few. Anyway, could I suggest that we all try asking by email:

[email protected]

subject: Richiesta informazioni

We could ask both whether they are available for Saturdays hearings and also if they could be made available for the next?

I'll ring them on Monday morning to find out more. Perhaps they simply didn't expect today's hearing to be so dramatic?

Oh but there is a parade, in Siena, before the world famous Palio Festival on Saturday 2nd July. I worked for Monte Dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest bank in the world, (founded 1472 .. 20 yrs before anyone had heard of America) for several years, also got married there. I'm sure everyone would love to meet you guys!!!

You won't be disappointed!!.. we can then move on to Perugia, where it seems you are keen to put your concerns to the Police, Police Union and Prosecutors office?.

The Kercher's seem a sane, level headed lot. They are likely not obsessed with Internet forums on this case and discussing all the minutia discussed here. They are simply a family who lost their beloved daughter in horribly tragic circumstances and their only fault is trusting in the courts to find the truth. I'm sure they are not out there trying to dissect it for themselves, that would be too painful, so I fail to understand the lack of compassion shown them here by Kaosium and Rose Montague, just to name the latest posting such drivel about them. You should be ashamed. They are victims too.

I am not ashamed at all. Mr. Kercher said in his last article that Amanda is guilty and listed the reasons he believes she is guilty. I don't believe he is correct in his opinion of guilt and the reasons he gives are not convincing. His lawyer worked hard to discredit only the defense witnesses and experts, not the prosecution's. The Kercher's committed to guilt from the start of the first trial and are still doing the same at the appeal level.

You can claim they are searching for the truth, I prefer the reality of the situation. They believe Amanda and Raffaele are guilty and their lawyer worked hard for guilt in the first trial and now is trying to protect the guilty verdict of the first court. I understand their pain in losing a daughter but there is no true justice for Meredith if two innocents go to jail for her murder. If something happened to one of my kids I have no intention of blindly following the prosecution theory. The evidence will have to be convincing to me. I would be doing an injustice to my child to actively promote a guilty verdict of someone that I doubt the guilt of and I would be following the information and the evidence closely. If the Kercher's have done that, good for them and they are entitled under Italian law to have a lawyer there arguing for guilt. If they have not done so then shame on them as far as I am concerned.

Costagliola

Cost-ag-liola, I will remember that name from now on!

Well, except it's actually Cost-a-gliola. FYI, "gl" in Italian is pronounced "ly", so the pronunciation is approximately "coast-al-ye-O-la". Similarly, "gn" is pronounced "ny" (just like Spanish ñ) -- so Mignini is "mean-yeanie", not "mig-neanie" or "min-eenie".

But yes...the guy is something of an enigma. I've always wondered how deeply he believes in the case he is obliged to present (since, as the appeal prosecutor, he didn't choose to bring it in the first place, unlike Mignini).

The appeal court has not authorized audio or video. You will see pictures and video's taken only before the hearings start or after they are finished.

In one of Franks last posts before Mignini succeeded in getting him closed down,it was his account of the hearing when Curatolo became an embarrassment to the prosecution,Napoleoni was to have being a witness that day also she did not show up she could not be got on the phone,Frank wrote a very scathing attack on her,how this miscarriage of justice would never have happened only for her, claiming she always had time to come to court during the first trial but now that the tide had turned she was nowhere to be found, afraid of the questions of the defence lawyers and the journalists.I do not know if that blog post of Franks can any longer be found on line

Rose,

I'll ring on Monday anyway.

Also in the main trial, no pictures or audio were broadcast during the hearings, the audio was posted about 21:00 each evening. If the recordings are made, but not broadcast, I'll ask at what point readers could have access to them.

I'd imagine that the source of the audios is the broadcast made to that TV we see the journalists watching in an ante chamber?. Just a case of access and timing?

That 'parade' sounds too papist (and slightly early) for some tastes.
I was referring, in any case, to Dempsey's Parade [or Mardi Gras or Circus] which was the subject of much discourse here.

I have no wish to take on the Italian cops or prosecutors in defence of killers or rapists (or to make a buck).
You appear to be confusing me with someone else !!!!
[I have no doubt there are many issues they should be confronted over - but thats not particular to Italy, its global]

And what do you mean 20 yrs, 'my' people discovered America ~ 12,000 years earlier :)

Surely you've got the loyalties of Siena completely wrong?

The battle of Montaperti was fought between:

- Florence ...... The Guelph party supporters of the Papacy

and

- Siena ...... The Ghibelline party supporters, opposed to the Papacy

I am beginning to understand the bad feeling towards Maresca .... it is not his work on behalf of the murder victim's family which upsets people, but his loyalty to the Vatican?

Does that mean we can count you guys in for the trip?

Don't worry about Maresca, we can simply remind him who won !!

Ah, thank you for the pronunciation!

I will have to remember it my way though, or I will invariably misspell it. My natural tendency is to think a person is not summed up by a collection of characters in a line, so to the dismay of many I often pay too little attention to how those characters are arranged, or which ones belong there in the first place. :o

I have often pondered the exact same thing. An Italian who posted on IIP who was familiar with their legal system and some of the players involved said Costagliola was being considered for the Supreme Court. I can't help but wonder if that is true whether he'd want to drop this case in their lap like Mignini handed off the hot potato to him. I suspect sometimes he may have 'invited' Mignini and Comodi to 'assist' him under the reasoning that they made the mess, they should clean it up--or take responsibility for it.

Perhaps that is wishful thinking.

I think you missed the point, and dodged much :) , of my post.

Ask Billy (or Mary H)

Was I being to subtle again ?
