General Israel/Palestine discussion thread

Hoverboarder only has 84 posts. As he accumulates more, and continues to criticize and expose Israeli inhumane, racist, and brutal policies, he will eventually suffer the same fate as ANYONE else here who dares to be critical of Israel

You remind me of the folks on the KKK forum who complain that "anybody who dares to expose the inferior, evil nature of black people is suddenly called a racist!". I couldn't write a better example of your hatred of, and obsession with, Israel if I tried.

In fact HoberBoarder -- like, say, DC and Darat, to name two posters off the top of my head -- often criticize Israel and are not called antisemitic, contrary to what you claim. How can this be? Well, perhaps it has something to do with their criticism being to the point (if perhaps wrong), and not part of what seems like a life-long crusade to collect "proofs" of how evil Israel is.

Much like someone who criticizes the Black community for not doing enough to stop youths from becoming criminals isn't necessarily a racist, while someone who posts post after post after post about a black man being arrested for a crime while screaming, "see? SEE?! I told you the darkies are evil!" might be considered a tad racist.

Lol....maybe you could just list all those you are not refering to when you tell us all about the numerous anti-semites you see? Could be an alternative to get around the fact you just can't seem to put any names to the opinions you quote and argue against?

Ok, well I was just bringing up ideas to help as there didn't seem to be much talk of actually finding a solution to this problem except for one post from Thunder.
There's been plenty mentioned in this thread alone since it was combined with several other Israeli-Palestinian conflict threads. I realize its cumbersome to read through all of them, and I doubt if I were in your shoes that I would go through all that trouble, but that post by Parky (aka Thunder) is a summary, or rather parroting (ie return of 100k Palestinian refugees when pointed out that this option was discussed by Israelis), of items already mentioned ad nauseum on this board regarding possible solutions, albeit, it does miss a few other points.

I thought my use of the modified Article 4 of the Palestinian constitution as another way to say that Israel would be a Jewish State was a good idea, since it could be something that more Palestinians could support and accept as a necessary precondition for recognizing Israel's right to exist. But it was just an idea to work on figuring out a longer term solution.
I personally have a problem with the wording of the Palestinian constitution and would see it as several steps back from the already existing common and civil law system in Israel. Sure, Israel still needs an official constitution, but individual rights/freedoms already exist and they are significantly superior to those written and in actual practice compared to the Palestinian territories. There are additionally seperate religious courts of different affiliations/denominations in Israel dealing with matters pertaining to Jewish (Halakha) and Sharia law.

As for the Palestinian constitution itself, its articles are merely a horse and pony show. Its articles are contradicted almost on a daily basis:

ie: PA bans journalists from reporting human rights abuses

As stated in the constitution:
ARTICLE 11
...
2.It is unlawful to arrest, search, imprison, restrict the freedom, or prevent the movement of, any person, except by judicial order in accordance with the provisions of law. The law shall specify the period pre-arrest detention. Imprisonment or detention shall only be permitted in places that are subject to laws related to the organization of prisons.

ARTICLE 12

Every arrested person shall be informed of the reasons for his arrest or detention. He shall be promptly informed, in a language he understands, of the nature of the charges brought against him. He shall have the right to contact a lawyer and to be tried without delay.

ARTICLE 131.

No person shall be subject to any duress or torture. All persons deprived of their freedom shall receive proper treatment.
2.All statements or confessions obtained through violations of paragraph one of this article shall be considered null and void.

As far as rights go, I know that it is not something that you or many Israeli's think is an issue, but many Palestinians do. Even if it is something that you say that Israel already does, they will need to address it with the Palestinians in negotiations (if those ever happen).
Are you talking about Israeli Arabs here or not? I want to know.

Maybe what needs to be done is to just build more walls and wait out the Palestinians for another 50 or 100 years until they are serious about peace.
I hope it won't be that long, but I definitely think that with the current PA government and future unity goverment with Hamas is quite possibly the worst time for peace initiatives since the first and second intifada.

Let Parky play the hapless martyr and latch on to Hoverboarder even though his criticism of Israel and the PA/Hamas is level-headed and actually the proper form of debate.

Nobody, to my knowledge, as called Hoverboarder's posts anti-semitic to any extent.

So let Parky simmer in the corner....

HoverBoarder:

My so-crazy-it-just-might-work solution is to be found here.

Another possibility? Immediate execution for anybody suggesting any peace plan on a higher than neighboring cities or county level, so that instead of the (so far) continuing chess game people will try to live with each other locally. If there is any hope, by the way, it is not in anything the politicians say, but in the fact that day-to-day coexistence is possible -- at least so far.

Stef Wertheimer (sp?) the Israeli engineering tycoon, is opening hi-tech parks deliberately in Arab towns, so as to get Jews and Arabs to work together, under the "everybody benefits" rule. This being the middle east, God knows how such efforts will end, but...

Naksa Day Commemorates Decades of Israeli State Terror
Actually, the term "Naksa" was coined by Nasser after the 1967 war. It means "setback", signalling that the failure to destroy Israel in 1967 is merely a setback to be soon remedied with another war.

The term, in other words, signals the Arab disappointment in their attempt to destroy Israel in 1967, much like the "Nakba" means the Arab disappointment in their attempt to do so in 1948.

It is not surprising that, considering the Palestinian (PLO) constitution is the only constitution on earth whose official goal is the destruction of another country, and that Hamas' charter is even worse, that these two failures at genociding the Jews and destroying Israel are remembered with a wailing and gnashing of teeth.

You remind me of the folks on the KKK forum who complain that "anybody who dares to expose the inferior, evil nature of black people is suddenly called a racist!".

the difference here, is that while black people are clearly not inferior & evil by nature, Israel IS clearly discriminating against Palestinians and Arab Israelis.

you see how that works? one situation is false...while the other is true.

no need to thank me, I enjoy helping you.

Actually it is the easiest thing in the world to "clearly prove" blacks are inferior if one looks only at the evidence one wants: e.g., SAT scores or crime rates, or repeatedly posting heart-breaking stories about a poor white girl evily raped by a black thug, or calling anybody and everybody who points out you are unfair a "left-wing commie".

This is the way the KKK does it. It is precisely the way you "clearly prove" Israel is evil, only replacing "black" with "Jew", "white" with "Muslim", and "left-wing commie" with "right-wing zionist".

Of course, using similar techniques bigots have been "clearly proving" every single nation / ethnic group / religion on the planet are "evil" since times immemorial. I don't suppose I need to show the flaw in this reasoning.

interesting. you spend a lot of time researching this?

....and also, you are saying that criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic, because the KKK's hatred of blacks is racist?

does this also mean that criticism of China's policies in Tibet is racist, criticism of Sudan's policies in Darfur is racist, and criticism of South Africa's Apartheid policies, was anti-White?

why is it that we are right and justified, in condemning racism, bigotry, and discrimination in EVERY corner of the globe...except in Israel?

fascinating logic there. what do you call it?

how about this: The "Israel is infalable and all who dare to criticise her are Jew-haters" logic?

sounds right on target to me.

painfully empty rhetoric.
your analogies for 'critics of israel' is getting very predictable.
now the KKK are analogous to those who are brazen enough to criticize israel for it's treatment of palestinians.
these analogies are pitiful, and wildly inaccurate.

Wow. I'm not sure which, but either the reading comprehension or the intellectual honesty in this thread is reaching new lows.

The chronic Israel-bashers do support the antisemites in the conflict. They pity them for losing the wars against Jews they started and getting abandoned by the Arab states when they became a liability. They complain that Israel defends itself too much.

Don't know if that's antisemitism or not, but it doesn't look good.

Skeptic is comparing those who criticise Israel...and are then called anti-Semitic..to how the KKK hates black people..and are then called racist.

do you think folks who criticise Israel for their discrimination against Israeli-Arabs & Palestinians, are analogous to the KKK and their hatred of black people?

sounds like a total BS analogy to me. what do you think?

As the old saying goes, you don't have to be an antisemite to hate Israel -- but it helps.

As the old saying goes, you don't have to be an antisemite to hate Israel -- but it helps.

or in other words: less than 100% of all Israel-critics are anti-Semites. The number is more likely 99.99%

or

no, of course not ALL critics of Israel hate Jews.....but surely most of them do.

how about this one?

not every critic of Israel hates Jews, but why would you criticise Israel unless you hated Jews?

No he isn't, he's comparing one of the deceptive tactics the KKK uses to support their arguments against blacks to the use of similar tactics against Israel. If you can't see the difference you need serious help.

Segregationists were very angry at all the white & black liberals, who came down South and advocated for equality for all Americans..including black Americans. They often accused such "instigators" of hating white people.

Some people are very angry at all the folks around the world who advocate for equality & freedom for all Israelis..including Israeli-Arabs. Many of them hate folks around the world who push for and demand human rights for the Palestinians. They often accuse such people of being anti-Semites & Jew-haters.

Afrikaaners were very angry at all the people around the world, who boycotted South Africa to protest Apartheid and demand freedom for all the peoples of South Africa. They often accused such people of being "anti-White".

....we seeing a trend here?

the people who protested Segregation in the American South, were not "anti-White".

the people who protested Apartheid in South Africa, were not "anti-White".

the people who protest discrimination and intolerance against Israeli-Arabs and Palestinians, for the most part, are not "anti-Jew".

Actually communism has been antisemitic for a long time. Its founder had denounced his Jewish origins and was disgusted by Judaism (he hoped to convert all ethnic Jews to communism instead). It went downhill from there.

Communist dogma almost by definition must hate Judaism, for various reasons. But since communist dogma is thoroughly-disproved economic hocus-focus which never works, all that is left of it, after a while, is the one enduring part, namely, hatred of Judaism.
