Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

doc's trying to move his dog-and-pony show to a new thread. Seems to think the people over there can be duped a little easier than this crowd.

When your arguments are as solid as DOC's they can be applied equally to any discussion.

Of course, since ddt is already over there asking for a translation of his Greek sentence, things might not go all doc's way.

But DOC has Edge and Kumar to help him to make his case and . . .

I haven't been on this thread (or indeed on this forum) for several months. I see DOC still is posting the worst possible attempts at Christian Apologetics.

However; recent events have caught up with Biblical Prophecies. I posted the following on the "The Bible says God punished with natural disasters, could that be the case today?" thread:

God not only Sadistically Punishes His Flock with Natural Disasters, but if the mounting Biblical Proof that Proves with utmost Proofiness that the Bible is True, then we are in a drastically precarious situation.

It's much worse than previously thought. I used to be a Nontheistic Pagan Agnostic--or Gnostic Agnostic for short. But the evidence is now incontrovertible. I know this because the utterly credible and unbiased source--CNN--has reported on impending disasters of Apocalyptic Proportions.

I am now convinced that every single word in the Bible is true.....and that Christians have been ON THE WRONG SIDE all along. I am now a Gnostic Gnostic. I am absolutely certain now, that God not only wants to Kill us with Horrible Tortures, but that He wants to EAT OUR BRAINS.

After reading several CNN articles I broke out my Bible for confirmation. And sure enough the Demon God Yahweh, the Demiurge, is out to get us. Natural Disasters, Wrath, and mere Punishment is not enough for this Monstrous Deity. He wants to Defile us in the most Vile ways imaginable.

I compiled the Biblical Evidence and compared it with the latest reports by CNN in a post I made on another thread. Be warned, as the Apocalypse has already begun, you probably have no time left to prepare. I'm sorry, but it's too late for most of us.

Though if Documentaries like the film Legion are correct, the Hordes God will send to destroy us can be maimed and even killed by Human Weapons. Unfortunately, most of us have not prepared or armed ourselves as well as the Fundamentalist Christian Militias have for the coming War. However, once they see the Horrors that the Demon God has unleashed upon us, many will likely quickly switch sides.

The evidence I have compiled is here.

PS: Yes, I misspelled Prophecies in my post. But unfortunately my ability to edit has timed out.

I cannot stress the importance of the evidence I have compiled. If you want to be saved from Certain Doom, I urge you to click the link in the above post. Of course, as I point out above, it's probably too late for most of us. But that shouldn't stop us from trying to survive the Apocalypse, which is beginning even as I type (depending on which timezone you are in).

HI,
I have a couple of pre-Rapture questions for DOC, ddt and anyone else who cares to answer them.
Was Corinthians 14:35-36

35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

36What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

inserted by a later scribe?

Is Timothy, from which 1 Timothy 2:11-15,

11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
actually a document forged in Paul's name.
And
How many of Paul's letters are known to be forgeries?

HI,
I have a couple of pre-Rapture questions for DOC, ddt and anyone else who cares to answer them.

Sorry, but it looks like the Rapture was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Again.

Yeah this is getting ...

... tedious.

All these stupid religious prophecies are ...

... a waste of air.

And as usual, no one is better off ...

... for all the lame apocalyptic blather.

Though no doubt the dumb Rapture-heads don't know ...

... when they're beat.

That's my prophetic contribution and there's little doubt that ...

... I'm right.

Thanks!
Here's the list of disputed letters according to Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorship_of_the_Pauline_epistles
... Ephesians, Colossians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, and Titus. The first three, called the "Deutero-Pauline Epistles," have no consensus on whether or not they are authentic letters of Paul. The latter three, the "Pastoral Epistles", are widely regarded to be pseudepigraphical works, though certain scholars do consider St Paul to be the author.[2] There are two examples of pseudonymous letters written in Paul’s name apart from the alleged New Testament epistles: These are the Epistle to the Laodiceans and 3 Corinthians. Since the early centuries of the church, there has been debate concerning the authorship of the anonymous Epistle to the Hebrews, and modern scholars reject Pauline authorship.[3]

So yes, both letters to Timothy are considered forgeries.
I must research this more.
It seems incredible anyone would take the NT seriously knowing this.

What's incredible is that the Hordes of the Undead, including Jesus, managed to create one of the most Horrid, Cannibalistic, and Sadistic Death Cults of all time, and fool all the Christians into believing that somehow this is evidence of a Kind and Loving Deity. ;)

If we are to accept the NT as the "Truth," then all the Biblical "Evidence" confirms the above.

With this sort of rubbish, it's hard to believe that anyone takes the NT seriously to begin with. It almost seems a waste of time rubbing the actual passages of the NT in Christians' Faces.....except that it's so much fun to beat them over the head with their own book (I wonder if they actually bother to read what's in there). :)

PS: But I have to admit, many of the NT stories would make Awesomely Gruesome Horror Movies. :D (And they already have. Legion was great. I loved the little old lady with the Fangs crawling on the ceiling and Gnawing on people's necks. And she's one of the "Good Guys" according to Revelation).

I'll bring this here from the other thread, because while it was off-topic there it is entirely on-topic for this thread as it deals with a direct contradiction between what is said in one of the Gospels and what actually happened, and the reliability of "eyewitnesses" to New Testament events:

DOC said:
The main reason the Gospel accounts were not written immediately after Jesus' death and resurrection is that there was no apparent need for any such writings. Initially the gospel spread by word of mouth in Jerusalem. There was no need to compose a written account of Jesus' life, because those in the Jerusalem region were witnesses of Jesus and well aware of his ministry

...snip...

Although authorship of the Gospels is debated among scholars, Matthew and John were apostles and thus eyewitnesses...

And writing down these eyewitnesses' accounts was unnecessary because, according to Matthew 16:28, Jesus said that some of these eyewitnesses would still be alive when he returned.

They have all been dead for a quite considerable time.

DOC, was Matthew mistaken when he wrote this?

I don't know about DOC. But many of those "eyewitnesses" were likely to be the first phase of Jesus and his Dark Overlord's plan to bring about a Zombie Apocalypse. As such, they were (and are) as alive as Jesus....which is to say, Undead. :)

Hey, the Rapture started 13 minutes ago!
Have I been tried and found wanting?
Has DOC been Raptured or will he return to discuss the forgeries in the NT?

@GB- the image of little old ladies á la miss Marple crawling about the ceilings dropping upon the unsuspecting has really put me off tea.
I went straight for the Cardhu.

DOC seems to have a habit of simply not responding to uncomfortable questions once it's clear that his claims have been debunked. If he returns, it will be proof positive that he was not one of the 144,000 Raptured. Apparently he has been found wanting too (so don't feel too bad about it).

I guess Tim LaHaye was wrong about the chaos that would ensue when 144,000 people simply vanished. It's kind of hard to miss that many people disappearing on a planet with over 6 Billion people.

I was kinda hoping it was true. Alas. My partner is still here!! :(

I'd just like to 'bring in' some evidence from someone who has made over 6000 posts, and has been posting here for more than 4 years, as I think it raises a red flag regarding the truth of the New Testament.

The bible impiies they will know since it talks of a hell. Overall the bible implies that good or bad the soul is going to be in existence, it's just a matter of where.

If it is true that the bible implies that the soul will exist after death regardless of whether one is saved or not, then this means that the favourite verse of sports-events-attending, placard-waving, Christians, John 3:16, cannot be true. This clearly states that only those who believe in Jesus will survive to have eternal life, the rest will perish. Since the bible as a whole says otherwise, then that part of the New Testament cannot be true.
