Merged Osama bin Laden dead,

I have quite a few Conservative friends on facebook congratulating the President for this....President Bush......huh?

I just woke up and heard the good news. All praise to the brave soldiers who did the job.

It is almost too bad there is no Hell. The thought of that piece of **** being completely shocked at arriving in Hell instead of being greeted by 72 virgins in paradise is hilarious.

The 72 virgins could be 80 year old Catholic nuns.

I'm actually looking forward to the pathetically tortured logic behind the next conspiracy theories.

Won't be long now.

This is a momentous event. The actual removal of Bin Laden from the world of Radical Islam will not make any profound changes to that battle; it existed long before he turned up and will exist long after he is dust, but this will have a profound psychological impact in the west, and in particular in the USA.

As a symbolic gesture, this raid has enormous impact. I am impressed with the US President for having the courage and persistence to select a goal and stick to it. And most importantly, a general salute to the intelligence staff and military personnel that made this a reality.

Concur with the above.

John Donne once wrote that "any mans' death diminishes me"....in this case, however, I'll make an exception--I am not in the slightest bit diminished by this SOB's death.

Of course, with the body now fish food, the conspiracy folks on all sides will be out "proving" that (1) He's not dead or (2) He's been dead for years and this was an Obama 'false flag' operation.

Turn me on? No. It would make the news even better though. I hope US special forces busted in his house, shot him in the stomach and let him bleed out while feeding him pork.

Have you got yourself waterboarded properly yet, BTW?

Footage from the crowd outside the White House. Some very proud Americans

Proud of what?

I joined a newsgroup after 9/11. It was what led me to JREF forums.

Today happens to be the anniversary of my marriage to my lovely wife. An odd sort of gift... the man did nothing to me personally, so I can't cheer his deathmuch more than I already have and will only agree with Clemens that I read his obituary with pleasure.
