Bill Ayers admits he wrote "Dreams From My Father"

Actually, that is entirely on topic since this has to do with the credibility of Obama on whose word your side depends. :D

This is at least the second time you've brought points to this thread that have nothing to do with the OP.

Evidence for Ayers writing the book has nothing to do with whether he admitted to it. You need to show us that historical data on Ayers' sense of humor does not correlate with how he acted while answering this question. Then, and only then, might you have proof that Ayers was seriously admitting to something rather than deadpanning.

Oh sure, you're bound to get an unbiased, untainted view of the facts from the

Annenberg Political Fact Check

For FactCheck.org to call itself "non-partisan" is the height of hilarity.

Just consider their statement

Even the description of Ayers as a "terrorist" is a matter of interpretation.

:D

Or their *analysis* that

Ayers is no Osama bin Laden now, and never was.

Never mind that Ayers wrote a book, "Prairie Fire", which declared war on the US government and stated "We need a revolutionary communist party in order to lead the struggle, give coherence and direction to the fight, seize power and build the new society."

Never mind that the Weatherman ideology, as stated by Ayers in 2001, was "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents."

Nevermind the he said that with "no regrets" and just before 9/11 told an interviewer ”I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.

Never mind that he told an FBI informant that "We can't protect all the innocent people in the world. Some will get killed. Some of us will get killed. We have to accept that fact."

Nevermind that the Weatherman, under the management of Ayers, were busy building nail bombs in a Greenwich Village condo, that were intended to kill dozens if not hundreds of people at a military dance … when one of them blew up, killing his then current girlfriend and several others, and forcing him to go into hiding.

Nevermind that he went into hiding with one of the other bomb builders in that condo (who also happened to be a murderer for a separate bombing that killed a policeman) … a murderer who then became and still is his wife.

Isn't it amazing how casually FactCheck.org can ignore all that … and much more?

Isn't it amazing how readily FactCheck just believes the denials of Obama and his camp?

Because Obama or a spokesman says Ayers was not someone who'd endorsed him and that Ayers was not someone he exchanged ideas with on a regular basis, FactCheck believes that. Believes that the two had not spoken by phone or exchanged emails since 2005. But if they'd checked their facts, they'd have found that Ayers had publically endorsed Obama on several occasions during his political career. They'd have found that when the Ayers scandal broke, Ayers himself stated that he and Obama had talked recently on the phone and did so regularly sharing ideas. It's hard to believe an organization called "FactCheck" would have been unaware of those facts. More likely, FactCheck deliberately failed to mention them in their *analysis*.

FactCheck just accepts the claim that the two were never close ... because Obama and his spokepersons claim that. Never mind that Ayers himself said they were "friends". (Funny how nothing Ayers says is ever believed by you folks. :D) Nevermind that other mutual acquaintances of Ayers and Obama (including Mayor Daley) said they were "friends". Even Axelrod admitted they were "certainly friendly". But I guess nothing that ANYONE says which contradicts the most current claim by the Obama's camp is to believed. Right? :D

If Hulton's story is true, the Ayers' parents were supporting Obama in his college years and there would be some sort of documentation to support that fact. Does that documentation exist?

Are you naive enough to believe that if such documentation existed, the Ayers family would release it? LOL!

Do you have citations for those quotes, or are you just repeating other sources that give lists of quotes. Surely you've discovered by now that quote walls are often misleading... as evidenced even by ones you find of Quayle, Bush, Palin, and so forth.

Obama's credibility is irrelevant.

It most certainly is relevant, when you and FactCheck are dismissing the allegation based solely on the *word* of Obama and his minions. Because Obama and company say they were not friends, you believe it. Because they say he wrote the book, you believe it. Never mind that Ayers says they were friends, as many of their other mutual acquantance saying it. Never mind that numerous facts about the book suggest Ayers' involvement. That just doesn't count in your mind because Obama says Ayers was just a guy in the neighborhood. Nothing but a professional association. And a brief one at that. Yeah, right.

Ayers denies many of the quotes, called them outright distortions. Make of that what you will but BAC didn't exactly bring those denials to anyone's attention (despite the denials being right on Ayer's wikipedia page). Also BAC reports Ayer's Weatherman beliefs in a slick way to make it seem like he still held them in 2001 rather then restating what they were. Examine how BAC states this:

Never mind that the Weatherman ideology, as stated by Ayers in 2001, was "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents."

Its written in a manner to make you think Ayers holds the beliefs in 2001, rather than Ayers saying what he believed when he was in the weatherman.

Par for the BACourse.

No, we are basing it on the fact that there is no decent evidence for it. There's a difference you cannot perceive while blinded by your hyperpartisanship.

Do you have citations for those quotes

Yes.

Here, you can read Prairie Fire yourself and find the statement "We need a revolutionary communist party in order to lead the struggle, give coherence and direction to the fight, seize power and build the new society": http://ironicsurrealism.blogivists....yers-weather-underground-communist-manifesto/

"Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents" is a quote from this source: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/August-2001/No-Regrets/index.php?cp=2&si=1

The ”I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” came from the NY Times September 11, 2001 interview: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F02E1DE1438F932A2575AC0A9679C8B63 .

"We can't protect all the innocent people in the world. Some will get killed. Some of us will get killed. We have to accept that fact." comes from this: http://www.aim.org/aim-column/tribune-covers-for-obamas-terrorist-friends/

And there are more extremist, no regrets quotes where those came from. :D

No. I dismiss it because there is no credible evidence that Ayers wrote the book.

Because Obama and company say they were not friends, you believe it.

No. Obama could have written his own book even if they were friends. I don't have to believe what he and his so-called "minions" say.

Because they say he wrote the book, you believe it.

No. I believe it because it's about his life and his name is on it as the author. I'm willing to have my mind changed if someone presents credible evidence that someone else wrote it. No one has.

Never mind that Ayers says they were friends, as many of their other mutual acquantance saying it.

Shrug. How many of Ayers' friends say he wrote Obama's book for him? Oh, that's right -- just Ayers.

And that was a joke. Did you get it yet?

Never mind that numerous facts about the book suggest Ayers' involvement.

No. They don't. Cashill's "analysis" is a laughable attempt to make facts fit his pet theory.

That just doesn't count in your mind because Obama says Ayers was just a guy in the neighborhood. Nothing but a professional association. And a brief one at that. Yeah, right.

You should try paying attention to what people actually say. Then you wouldn't tire yourself flailing at strawmen.

I believe it because it's about his life and his name is on it as the author. I'm willing to have my mind changed if someone presents credible evidence that someone else wrote it. No one has.

Well my opinion is that Cashill has presented credible evidence. :) I suspect you haven't actually bothered to read anything he presented, citing his evidence. :) I suspect you merely dismissed it out of hand due to your fervent *hope* that Obama wrote Dreams. :) And I suspect nothing would *change* your dismissal. :)

How many of Ayers' friends say he wrote Obama's book for him? Oh, that's right -- just Ayers.

Who are Ayers' friends? Besides Obama and Friends Of Obama? And that being the case, who do you think those friends now want to make sure they stay on the good side of? The man with the power or the man without it? :D

Cashill's "analysis" is a laughable attempt to make facts fit his pet theory.

That's your opinion. I find the many similarities pointed out between Ayers' books and Dreams rather convincing. Especially when the book that we know Obama did write, Audacity, is so very different from Dreams. As the evidence that Cashill presented clearly proves.

Hey ... here's a thought ... maybe the teleprompter wrote Dreams? :p

and has been demonstrated, your opinion means squat. and seeing by your history here, you "beleif" is severely hampered that you don't know what a freaking joke is/

Cashill presented nothing that was credible. He sources himself for his claims. Talk about self delusion.

Ayers made a joke. ITS the 2nd time he said that joke. you've been presented sources that it was a joke yet you wish to believe the rantings of a delusional gnat

Did Ayers say it was a joke?

Didn't need to. Most folks got the joke. Does every comedian have to say 'that was a joke' after they something funny or absurd? Does Ayers have to play Foghorn Leghorn for the benefit of morons who can't tell when they are being made fun of ("that's a joke son...").
