Assistance required for telepathy proof

So telling the truth has never occured to you?

golfy

Apparently it has never occured to you that people are capable of doing so.

It's simple:

Anyone who guesses your thoughts is telling the truth. Everyone else is lying.

Your theory allows no room for you not being telepathic.

Best of luck with that.

They understand the nature of the experiment because I am telepathic, Duh!

Useless protocol.

If the test was infallible, then yes. That will not happen though as I am telepathic.

golfy

As I suspected. You are totally unprepared to accept objective and reasonable test conditions.

You will fail to be even given the opportunity to try for the $1M.

LOL You have to admit he got you there, FG10. :)

golfy, to be fair you should have phrased it as:

"They understand the nature of the experiment because if I am telepathic."

Remember who has the burden of proof here.

I suppose telling Golfy not to transmit that he is telepathic before and during the test is asking too much? Seemingly, not only is it a super power that can't be detected it is a super power that can't be turned off!

Where did I put my chocolate teapot?

Well, if you had an accurate way of telling whether a person possessed certain knowledge, then you could test whether they had some knowledge which they could only have received telepathically. It is, however, an absurdly complicated and expensive way to find out just because you won't trust anyone to answer truthfully.

It wins me $1M though, not as expensive as it first apears.

golfy

And you know this to be fact how FG10 and Jack by the hedge?

FG10 - you can't even rationalise a decent protocol, how can you rationalise your statement?

golfy

My statement was weighted for probability.

As for the 'rationalise' bit - irony is not your friend.

I've just listened to the recording of the test with your doctor. I agree with the people who say that it's very clear that you have mental health issues, and I hope that you receive treatment for them. I also sincerely hope that you don't cause harm to yourself or others, either as a consequence of your delusion or as a consequence of finally discovering that your delusion is just a delusion.

I do have a couple of questions, though - you believe that everybody in the entire world can hear your thoughts and is lying and partaking in a conspiracy to cover this up. Are you the only person in the entire world who is telepathic? If there are others are they also being conspired against, or are they in on the conspiracy? And are extremely young children also in on the conspiracy? Even those barely old enough to talk themselves?

You show me the most infallible telepathy test that cannot make mistakes statistically and would prove to beyond 100000 to 1 or more (double blind etc) that telepathy exists then I would be there first in the queue.

I am not one of these who claim to be something and then shy away from being tested. I am the opposite.

golfy
I think it is called, CHANCE.

:) :) :)

golfy, if you believe there is a conspiracy that means everybody will lie to you, why do you believe you'll be allowed to win the $1m?

If you believe there are people in the world who wouldn't lie to you, might it be better to test your telepathy powers with these people, if you can identify them, so that you don't have to rely on a lie detector?

Why would you possibly believe that the JREF will be honest and give you a million when no one else on the planet is honest? If you trust them that much, then skip the lie detector and send your thoughts directly to James Randi. I'm sure he'll drop a cheque in the mail tomorrow.

Thanks, that's interesting.

Given, though, that it's not a lie detector and is instead a method of ascertaining whether someone is in possession of certain knowledge, I can't see how it could help you in your testing.

It is also trivially defeated. A BF procedure asks a series of questions, shows a series of pictures or something like that, and it generates a signal on those items of the series that are 'significant' to the subject. The subject can create false positives by deciding ahead of time to do something like imperceptibly tense their big toe on every 4th item of the sequence. This will make every 4th item significant.

Funny I heard or read this just last week, but can't remember where.

I'd be interested in your answers to these questions too, golfy.

Also: if everybody in the world can hear your thoughts, how on earth can they function? Did you read the thread I linked to earlier started by a schizophrenic? There's someone who can constantly hear what appears to be someone else talking in his head; read his posts and it's clear it makes a normal life almost impossible.

Have you ever watched live sport? How on earth could the participants be concentrating so completely if they could hear you jabbering away in their heads?

I have to side with golfy here, he certainly doesn't shy away from being tested. I mean come on people, he only discovered he was telepathic 15 years ago, and he's already started arguing on internet forums about it. Hell, he's only been on this forum for 3 years, and already he's nearly got the instruction manual for the equipment he thinks he'll need in order to start working out how to do a test. I'm not sure when he first heard of James Randi, but it's certainly only been several years and he's already thinking about how nice it would be to win the million if he ever bothered working out a protocol and applying for the challenge. So please, let's stop with the comparisons to other people who never took any tests. It's clear golfy will be thinking about taking a real test any decade now.

And where will putting my understanding of what is going on get me on a forum, more criticism from game players against someone who cannot prove his ability as yet.

As for the sport thing, I have many examples but here is one for you to now deride and ask me to prove when I can't as it happened a long time ago. It is a fact non the less.

I caused the only multiple false start in F1 in 1999 at the Nurburgring

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4W17xMVErw

You will see Eddie Jordan who owned Jordan F1 (the yellow car) looking into the camera with a glare of derision. This is Eddie telling me off for causing the false start by shouting "Go!" before the lights went out. I was in Ipswich, England watching it live.

People can hear a lot about me, when I talk, when I think etc. If I hear it then they do. I could write hundreds of examples but what good will that do – you will never accept that as reality unless I can back it up with objective evidence.

I asked a girl in a night club for a dance and she looked at me and said "Yes." and then said “You’re the guy with the guitar in your head, aren't you.” I get called freak by complete strangers etc etc. A hundred examples will not change your opinion, objective proof will.

What they hear in their heads is not necessarily the same as what a schizophrenic hears in his/hers. You are not comparing apples with apples, Pioxel42.

So why ask the questions? You will now only do your normal writing and criticism. Objective testing is what is needed.
