Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Just popped in to see if any new evidence has been posted. No? Carry on.

DOC has copied that bit of <rule10> into an OP on the R&P board, if anyone fancies expressing their feelings about it in the appropriate thread.

I read it and I'm horrified.

I said there, and I'll say it here:

"10 years ago, I was reconsidering my position on Christianity. Four years ago, I considered myself an agnostic. After reading every single post in this and DOC's NT evidence thread, I'm convinced it's all nonsense and DOC is the worst possible spokesperson for Christianity.

Call me apostate #4 or #5 thanks to DOC.

Keep going DOC! You're doing really well in your evangelism."

Doc is a deep cover disinfo agent for the Devil.

I think you will find that your claims that God murders innocent people on a whim will follow you as much if not more than you and your faith's support for keeping and beating slaves.

This post is absurd and of course you didn't respond to a particular post of mine that supports your claim -- red flag.

I'll get to the issue of the alleged discrepancy of Jesus last words within 10 days but as of now I see no contradiction unless you make assumptions.

How is reading the Gospels to see what they actually say an "assumption"?

What, like the assumption that "It is finished" is different to "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit" and both are different to "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani"?

That's a big assumption. Of course, you would never make assumptions - for instance, vilely claiming that earthquakes are a punishment for sinners. Now that would be an assumption. And completely without evidence.

But then evidence is far from being your strong point, isn't it?

No, DOC, it's a quite reasonable observation of the likely result of the vile bilge that you dumped in the thread with Post #18924 and the only red flag on show is the contempt with which your abhorrent musings have been met.

Frankly I see your refusal to acknowledge the huge error of judgement that you've made in taking your dreck beyond this thread as being a good thing, since the filth that you spew in the name of your god does more damage to your misbegotten cause in just a few pages than the most rabid antitheist could hope to do in a lifetime.

True.
One must assume rational self-consistent logic, you see contradictions.

If you don't assume you are bound by rational logic, than no contradictions exist. And heavy is more nipple than sound.

I'm sure you think you're clever to have picked up the word 'alleged' from your opponents and you believe that it has magical powers to negate any point that is made against what we jokingly refer to as your arguments, but as usual, you've got it all wrong.

'Alleged' means something which has been claimed but for which no evidence has been provided - such as, for example, the truthfulness of the authors of the New Testament.

When someone posts exerpts from different sources which are claiming to describe the same events, and yet the descriptions are actually different, those aren't 'alleged' discrepancies. They are quite real, easily visible to anyone who has access to the source documents (in this case - everyone) and immune to being handwaved away as anything other than what they are - discrepancies.

I realise, of course, that you're constrained not to acknowledge this, and that you'll continue to misuse 'alleged' in exactly the same way that you misuse a lot of the words that you pick up here, but don't think for a second that your either fooling or impressing anyone with it any more than a talking budgie might.

You know, I've just realised that there's a new rule for any threads started by DOC.

"You're only allowed to post if said post is in response to an existing post from DOC".

So, people, please be more careful in future, else DOC will continue to throw his toys out of the pram....

Another 10 days! You have already had 13, see below.
As I've said I've never seen one alleged Gospel discrepancy that can't be explained. What's the worst Gospel discrepancy in your opinion?

The discrepancy between the stories in the New testament and evidence for them.

Be specific, what's the worst single Gospel verse in your opinion that has a discrepancy in another Gospel?

I have told you that the discrepancy with the truth is the worst fault, followed by the discrepancy with moral behaviour.

Whether one made up story matches another made up story is off less importance but from the top of my head, what were Jesus's last words?

I am shocked it is taking you so long. Let us get this straight. You asked me for a discrepancy then insisted I was more specific. I responded to your requests yet you have totally ignored that response despite all the prompting I gave you. I can repost the prompts if you want, but I think it is suffice to say your behaviour in this matter has been very rude

Given how key the death of Jesus is you must have read that part of the bile many times. You must have noticed the different accounts. Why can you not explain it now? Why do you need 10 days?

I suspect DOC's 10 days of research regarding the discrepancies of Jesus' reported last words will be just as unfruitful as his research on the claim that early church fathers quoted the NT in sufficient variety to allow one to reconstruct it from their quotations alone (except for 7, 10, or 11 verses).
