Ron Paul? What are your thoughts?

If Ron Paul cares about America, why doesn't he care about Alex Jones brainwashing millions of people with total lies? 9/11, Jared Loughner's a mind-control victim, anti-vax... enough to make you puke! He can't be classified as anything other than a scumbag for lending credibility to Alex. Maybe he goes on the show because he secretly agrees with him, or he's just a scumbag politician that doesn't mind courting these people as supporters..

I think you overstate the problem just a touch.

Ron Paul is an idiot, a lunatic, and a pretty sad case all round. His son is all of the above and vicious.

Alex has a bigger audience than Beck and Limbaugh combined online, he was the original truther. He has the loudest voice and has convinced the most people, easy. As he says, he's the tip of the spear. This movement is in the hundreds of millions easily so saying he has directly convinced millions of people of horrible stuff is not an overstatement but please prove me wrong because it's a sickening thought.

Here is my slightly embellished account:
In High School I was a big Ron Paul supporter in his run for the republican primary. I was really big on him and I was simply baffled that my AP US History teacher regarded Ron Paul as a quack. I thought that anyone knowledgeable in America's history HAD to be a supporter of Ron Paul. No matter, it was apparent to me that everyone was too deeply brainwashed by big government, the fed and the shadowy overseers of the NWA - the Bilderberg group. I gave Ron Paul my sword and my money. I figured he wouldn't win, but he would be a force enough to send a message: not everyone was sheep being led by the Bilderberg and their puppet governments. We were declaring a war against the deception. We would liberate the world. :boggled:

I'm happy to say that I've been on a diet of strict reality for a good while now. It is such a surreal thing to look back at myself just 3 - 3 1/2 years ago and think about all that woo that I just ate up. Thankfully I've awoken to skepticism while still young.

As for my thoughts on RP now: He has some ideas that line up with me, but for the most part I disagree with him. A lot of what he says comes off as woo. The things he advocates and the methods he would see them implemented with seem anachronistic, impractical and/or silly in our society.

But when you take the aucience size in the world offline into consideration, Alex Jones is a small minnow and Beck and Limbaugh are big whales.

Probably true but Alex's total worldwide impact, direct and indirect over his whole life has been significant. Anyways it looked like Barbara Walters was thinking about having him whacked while everyone else I see is far too polite in dealing with the madman. He' s a pretty good brainwasher look at Jason Bermas :boggled: sad. That's why it's intolerable

I will have to agree with you.

As for the woo...

I have yet to hear him say "9/11 was an inside job" or that Barack Obama needs to "show his birth certificate"!

Was a Paulite when I first got into politics, but left that after a few months

I generally agree with the assertions that he's like a backwards clock, but I also think he's better for us than virtually any other member of the GOP. Some positions are *******, but at least they're *his* positions, instead of the corporatocracy's. However, a lot of his positions are inadvertently still very totalitarian.

That said, it's hard to figure how an RP presidency would be. Most of what he would want to do, he couldn't, but it's possible he could make some headway on civil liberties like drugs and gambling. Personally, I would much prefer if Paulism was the base of the GOP because then instead of liberalism vs corporatism it would be liberalism vs libertarianism, or something like that

Corporatism doesn't mean what you think it does.

It's fascism. No way around it.

why do you continue to support what you believe is corporate fascism by using the goods and services of these corporations?

which corporation provides you with Internet access?

Which made your computer, your television, your car, almost everything you own??

Don't be a slave to these corporate fascists any longer, leftysergeant!

log off the Internet, destroy you computer...tear down your house...cast out your material goods...free yourself from bondage once and for all!!!

In fascism (and corporatism which is the economic component of fascism) the government controls the tops of industry and businesses and what they do, but leftysergeant doesn't know that, he thinks it means that corporations control the government.

Lose the attitude. It means that corporate and government interests become one. The current twist is that the corporations take control of the elected government and carve it up into their fiefdoms.

Wisconsin is just the first attack of the vultures on our hobbling democracy. It has become a serf to the Koch slime.

but, leftysergeant...I like Corporations.

They produce all manner of goods and services that most people rely on.

Plus they literally employ billions of people worldwide and allow those people to provide a decent life for their families.

Am I just a brainwashed sheep who drank the koolaid?

Use words with their correct meaning. It isn't my fault that you do not understand the difference between corporatism and cronyism. I have never taught English so don't blame me for your failure.

No, you just don't properly fear a business with publicly traded ownership rights. Anytime you are walking down a street a corporation might jump out and get you.

I feel like I should walk around with a massive flag that reads something like:

"Please don't assume Lefty is representative of all socialists!"

"Please don't assume Lefty is representative of all socialists!"

Thinking that corporations should be leashed like a pit bull does not make me a socialist.

Capitalism is okay as long as the capitalists know what their role is supposed to be. They are supposed to redistribute the wealth, not amass it to themselves at the expense of society as a whole, and certainly not to use that wealth as a weapon to rob working people of the fruits of their labor, or to exclude others from access to the resources that God put on this earth for the common use.
