This alone would have struck the American nation with great terror.

Most of the towers were already cleared of asbestos, and as the plane crashes scraped most of the fireproofing from the structural steel at impact, asbestos played no significant role at all in protecting the structural integrity.

But if the demolition is made by a terror attack, nobody can blame them. But the planes will not demolish the towers. SO for demolition, they needed to rig the towers with explosives.
