The Zionist plan is limitless. After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.
-Hamas Charter, Article 32

So silly that you agree with it, Parky?

I predict you will get meaningless emoticons as a response.

I think he still has me on ignore from his usual temper tantrum the last time he lost a round with me.

Feel free to quote his words on "the only pourpose of advocating The Protocols" so he can see it. ;)

I'm going to guess he's seen it. I'll also guess it won't make any difference. Some are just impervious to logic. I suggest putting him on ignore might elevate the overall tone of the discussions. it certainly worked for me. :)

Putting aside that this is the analysis of the writer of the article, and not the actual text of the proposed law, I'll concede that it could be considered illegal. You realize that the U.S. has similar laws on the books, right?

I'm glad that you have finally conceded this obvious point.

but as to the USA having similar laws against boycotting certain parts of the USA, got any evidence?

cause folks have boycotted South Carolina, Arizona, Mississippi, etc etc...without facing ANY criminal prosecution.

its cute how SOT accuses me, a Jew, of supporting the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

but its not surprising or unexpected. its a "strategy" some folks use, when legitimate methods of debate are too difficult or time consuming.

its similar to calling someone a "puppy-hater" when debating income taxes. :)

The more you post, the more you prove you didn't read the article.

The U.S. has laws on the book making it illegal to boycott products of Israel.

Actually, you are kinda right....but kinda wrong.

It is not illegal to boycott products and services coming from Israel. But, if you do participate in the "Arab boycott of Israel", you cannot bid for govt. contracts. At least for New York State, I don't know about other states. And I assume this applies to the Feds.

But no, it is no crime for Americans to boycott Israeli hummus, or to urge others to do the same.

Context has already been provided earlier in the thread for the laws you reference. Have you googled the BDS yet?

please cite these laws.

I would like to see the criminal penalty for refusing to buy and organizing others to not buy Sabra hummus and Jaffa oranges.

The United States adopted two anti-boycott laws that seek to counteract the participation of U.S. citizens in other nation's economic boycotts or embargoes (although these laws do not restrict the ability to engage in disinvestment campaigns.) These laws are the 1977 amendments to the Export Administration Act (EAA) and the Ribicoff Amendment to the 1976 Tax Reform Act (TRA). The antiboycott provisions of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) apply to all "U.S. persons," defined to include individuals and companies located in the United States and their foreign affiliates, and prohibit them to participate in unsanctioned boycotts against other nations, punishable by fines of up to $50,000 or five times the value of the exports involved[18] or jail term of up to 10 years.[19]

Conduct that may be penalized under the TRA and/or prohibited under the EAR includes:

* Agreements to refuse or actual refusal to do business with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies.
* Agreements to discriminate or actual discrimination against other persons based on race, religion, sex, national origin or nationality.
* Agreements to furnish or actual furnishing of information about business relationships with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies.
* Agreements to furnish or actual furnishing of information about the race, religion, sex, or national origin of another person.

There it is.

source please.

I want to read it with my OWN eyes.

oh, and btw:

The US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security is charged with enforcing and administering the Anti-boycott laws under the Export Administration Act.
"Those laws discourage, and in some circumstances, prohibit U.S. companies from furthering or supporting the boycott of Israel sponsored by the Arab League, and certain Moslem countries, including complying with certain requests for information designed to verify compliance with the boycott. " [1]

so, in which cases is it illegal...and in which cases is it NOT illegal..to boycott Israeli products and services?

....personally, I think this is a BS law and hampers freedom of speech. Boycotts are a form of expression, and should not be cracked down just because you are a small shop owner and don't want to buy Jaffa oranges and Sabra hummus.

That doesn't say what you think it says.

Fines can be levied at a company in order for said company to be discouraged in boycotting Israel. They still suffer a penalty.

I'm not sure where your reading comprehension is. Nothing in that article says it's OK to boycott some goods.

Please make a new post instead of editing your existing ones with different points - it makes it easier to overlook arguments you make.

Whether or not you think it's BS is irrelevant. The laws are on the books. And while you may think boycotting Sabra hummus and Jaffa oranges is silly, to the people who depend on selling such goods, it's their livelihood.

The antiboycott laws were adopted to encourage, and in specified cases, require U.S. firms to refuse to participate in foreign boycotts that the United States does not sanction. They have the effect of preventing U.S. firms from being used to implement foreign policies of other nations which run counter to U.S. policy.

or in other words, cracking down on freedom of expression. nice.

The TRA does not "prohibit" conduct, but denies tax benefits ("penalizes") for certain types of boycott-related agreements.

Again, this counters other things.

But anyway, isn't it wonderful that the Israeli lobby has convinced the United States government to make it illegal to refuse to purchase Israeli products and services? Isn't it wonderful how freedom of speech has been stepped upon by the interests of Israel?

how lovely. Proud to be an American.

so much for free speech.

what about the many Jews who boycott German goods. is that criminal aswell?

Call it what you will. It also swings the same way if a U.S. company decides to boycott Palestine at the behest of Israel - illegal, sorry, can't allow it.

Are these Jews trying to change German foreign policy through boycott?

Poor analogy. You were trying to support 'free expression' anyway.

And do you have a list of German goods that are boycotted by Jews? I know of Bayer boycotts - could that have something to do with not wanting to support a company that was involved in the holocaust?
