Merged Discussion of the moon landing "hoax"

My dear Wolf, I have it on such excellent authority that the Moon Landings are a poorly executed fake (and they certainly appear that way when you look at the materials produced) that you are simply wasting your breath.

I have said it before and I say it again, I don't want to "make a case" or prove anything. In fact, I have explicit instructions not, explicit instructions regarding non-interference in human affairs, explicit instructions regarding the rights to self-governance - no matter how lunatic that government may be. We are allowed a little leeway to indulge in some occasional good natured ribbing in small pockets of the internet we know are exclusively populated by Illuminati or people who's minds are so burned out it doesn't matter.

As for ham radios - while I don't know the details of what amateurs could hear and what they couldn't - would it not be possible that this could be the result of transmissions from earth bouncing off.....what do you people think it bounces of again......the name slips my mind.....well the thing that radio waves bounce off.

I think Matt will say that could not be the case with Parkes, but it might, I tentatively suggest, work for the ham radio enthusiansts - simply a function of the radiowave bouncing thingy up above, doing what it does best....bouncing radiowaves in its inimitable way.

I put it no more strongly than that.

I'm back!

It seems my good-natured ribbing may ribbed some people the wrong way. My deepest apologies.

So this is where I am at, at this point in time. Radio signals sent from earth bouncing of the radio-wave bouncy thingy .....it's on the tip of my tongue.....ironosphere?...were used to fool the ham radio enthusiasts.

What say ye?

I say show how it could be done

Yes we were all fooled by the 2 1/2 second delay. Can you tell me how they managed that?

No need to apologize for trying to understand. You really are somewhat unique around here. You say, "I don't understand" and "Can you explain this to me?" That is very refreshing. Usually we get, "I don't understand therefore it's not real." If you don't understand something even after an explanation ask again. There are lots of knowledgeable people here and from your last question you can see that something can be explained in variety of ways that expresses the same idea.

You are so right-there are knowledgeable people here. I appreciate all their help.

In addition to the replies here, I also commend to your attention the "Fun with parallax" thread from apollohoax.

I will check this out for sure.

It's not an issue for those of us that live near mountains, you quickly realise that when it is a long way off, that even sizable changes in your position don't change the look of the mountain a lot. consider the images below...

ETA: Just to make everyone else jealous, not as much snow and ice on it today, but it's standing out beautifully against the blue sky when I look out my office window. :D

Your example was awesome. Thanks :)

I've lived in Texas my whole life. The first time I visited Colorado, I was struck by the fact that there were objects so huge that you could be driving towards it for hours without reaching it.

There are no such landmarks in Texas.

I say that it, like most woo claims, sounds great until you actually look at it closely.

I am a ham and that would not work, the Ionosphere is changing all the time, sometimes there is refection and sometimes nothing. Also the frequencies they were using don't so-called bouncy off of it, they just goes straight thru it.

Try again.

It's been a while since I dealt with the subject, so correct me if I'm wrong. AM signals reflect off obstacles and FM go through.

AM is a big wave and it can around many things, where FM is about 6 feet and may reflect off things. Also, that has to do with the size of the wave, not if it is AM or FM, one can do FM on short waves, I've done it on top of the 10 meter band, around 30 mhz.

What exactly is ironosphere? I looked it up but I can't make heads or tails of it.

lgr is trying to make a joke by making a portmanteau of irony and ionosphere. He vaguely recalls something about the ionosphere and radio waves but he has no idea what he's writing about. But, hey, never let speculation get in the way of facts.

I think that is the other way around,

Never let facts get in the way of speculation. :jaw-dropp

So, I had it the wrong way around. Thank you.

Yea, I was going to tell Gypseagirl that an ironosphere was a sphere that had a black fly in its chardonnay, but at the last minute decided to forgo the obscure culture reference and go for the cheap joke.

Can someone explain these for me.:)

Still Photographs - Cameras were fitted to the Astronauts chest - there was no view finder and photographs could only be taken by movement of the body but 1000's of flawless photographs were taken.

Images show that Stars were missing from the black lunar sky

Grainy, Unclear images although technology at the time could have produced much clearer images - Did NASA intentionally make the images hard to see?

Shadows - The only source of light on the moon was the Sun but shadows were cast in multiple directions
