9/11 Truthers on the left vs 9/11 Truthers on the right- which side is more vocal?

anybody with half a brain is anywhere from center to slightly center right, IMHO

Or not.

Alex Jones most definitely IS right-wing. Anti-immigrant, anti-taxes, anti-big government, anti-Communist, anti-Socialist, anti-AGW.

You, again, are wrong. Very very wrong.

Yet if you asked him he would lash out against the right wing and tell you he would never in a thousand years consider himself right wing. How many right wingers do you know of that would do this?

Center I can agree with- but right of center? Perhaps in the backwoods of Mississippi, but not in the civilized world. All the right has to offer is anti intellectualism, theocracy and fascism.

Bear in mind from the perspective of Canadians, the British & Europeans; the US is an insanely right wing country- so much so that what Americans concider to be the 'center' is in fact seen by the rest of the western world as being far right. Thus the Democractic party is seen as right of center, and the Republican party as being on the insane right. That's why it is utterly ridiculous when Republicans call Pres Obama a far left socialist. He is anything but a socialist, and is in fact right of center.

Was that before or after he stood as a Republican candidate in Texas?

Ones that are trying to make money off of as many people as possible by looking like independent rebels.

What a convincing argument. I suppose this is because the Truther political position is ohhhh so sophisticated, it transcends everything - not just politics, but everything.

This idea of not being Left or Right is a strange thing. The first time I heard it was working for a marketing company that had strong ties with the Conservative Party of Canada. I since have heard it said repeatedly about the Green Party of Canada. Apparently this is related to previous leadership and their connection with the Conservative Party of Canada. But like the belief system about Jones that you are promoting, the details make it problematic. I have looked through the bios of several hundred of their candidates posted on the Elections Canada website and most of them appear to have the same background as the kind of candidate who would represent the New Democratic Party (NDP) that functions as Canada's socialist party.

It doesn't really matter what Jones calls himself. His failure to recognize where he is on this political spectrum may be related to a lack of understanding of how to actually make his judgment or even what it means. If you read through my earlier posts, I gave the example of Brook Kelley who I am also sure does not think she is Right-Wing, but clearly is and in fact, has tried to join several Right-Wing organizations but been rejected because she ascribes to that bone-dead wreak of an idea related to 911 conspiracy.

In addition, there are several members of the 911 conspiracy-type group We Are Change who are aligned with a group known as National Anarchy. NA, despite its name, is a neo-fascist group that ascribes to Tibet independence (a popular left-wing idea), but also the exclusion of homosexuals and non-Caucasian Americans from their version of a white America. It is a Right-Wing group having more in common with the German National Socialist party than with any other anarchist groups. My point is that this claim that, "we are neither left nor right" is a strategy being used by some extreme Right groups to make it look like they are not extreme Right groups.

So to answer your last point about "how many right wingers do I know who would do that?" Lots. And I'm surprised that someone with the obvious intelligence, articulation and broad knowledge that you Truthers bring to the debate wouldn't know all this already. Or maybe you do, and this is just - what is it you Truthers call it? - disinfo.

Ohhhh...my head hurts with the complexity of it all. It's such a good thing to have you Truthers around to sort things out.

Good Thread.

Scott is pretty much nailing it on the head. When is your paper being published, BTW?

Tempesta29 - Alex Jones is a self admitted Paleoconservative. No lie. Call him & ask him, or EMail him & ask. He'll tell you. Read about those kinds of conservatives here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoconservatism

Here's a snippet of what they believe...sound like Alex? YEP!

Paleoconservatism (sometimes shortened to paleo or paleocon when the context is clear) is a term for a conservative political philosophy found primarily in the United States stressing tradition, limited government, civil society, anti-imperialism and anti-federalism, along with religious, regional, national and Western identity....

...Paleoconservatives in the 21st century often highlight their points of disagreement with neoconservatives, especially regarding to issues such as immigration, affirmative action, U.S. funding of its allies abroad, foreign wars, and social welfare, to which they are opposed .

Don't be afraid to learn something, Tempesta... you don't know everything like you think you do. ;)

Thank you. Michael Shermer at The Skeptic Magazine told me he will publish it in the first issue this year. I'm not sure when that will be, so check their website.

Ron Paul is technically a Republican as well, yet he is completely at odds with almost everyone in his party. Did you not catch the debates in 2008? Whether someone runs on a platform or not is irrelevant.

But I'm sure you thought you had a real zinger there. How many right wingers denounce the right wing? Right wingers are proud to be part of "the right". Alex Jones is not right wing, and the right wing is not conservative, not in the traditional sense. This is ever-evolving terminology. Try and keep up.

9/11 Truthers on the left vs 9/11 Truthers on the right- which side is more vocal?

Both of them are equally vocal! Both parties are as equally nuts as well! Both of them are loud mouthed, brainwashed, paranoid jackaces.

Where someone is on the political spectrum, as far as public opinion is concerned, is determine by the mainstream media. Jones has been cast as a right winger because he started out as a right winger. He was a typical Texas conservative. At this point he's cast as a right winger simply based on his past and on superficial criteria. He has a typical right wing delivery, for example. These things don't make him right wing, and if you're implying that Alex Jones and Sean Hannity are both of the same political ideology then you simply don't pay attention.

So to answer your last point about "how many right wingers do I know who would do that?" Lots. Oh, you know lots. Well that solves it then.

As far as I'm concerned stupidity doesn't know politics. Organized groups supporting CT's typically will follow any agenda that they can selfishly benefit from, and that'll be true whatever agenda it is they choose to follow. Movements often look for momentum by resorting to such itineraries. Hold a discussion in the politics section and you'll get heated debates between plenty of people who unconditionally agree in this section that the 9/11 conspiracy movement is a bunch of baloney. To me that speaks volumes.

And Ron Paul is right-wing. What's your point? I didn't state that Jones was in agreeance with every Republican platform, but if you stand for the GOP in Texas, you are right wing. That's just how it works.

How many right wingers denounce the right wing?

I'm not sure, but I can think of at least 1. Alex Jones, in order to sell gullible fools like you mugs and t-shirts. He's part of the loony Right fringe who condemns the Establishment Right so you'll buy his widgets.

This point is quite similar to many answers I have gotten in the past on JREF. I think it misses what my point is about. The historical aspect of growth in this 911 conspiracy-type-thing is interesting and illuminating, but not related to what I am saying here. This 911 conspiracy-type-thing is only experiencing growth on the Right.
It doesn't matter what reason drew someone into the 911TM, the groups and ideologies they end up discussing are part of are now driven by a Right-Wing agenda. If you talk with Sander Hicks, he's an old hippie-sort-of-guy. But when Hicks wants to start a political party based on something about 911 Truth (he calls it the Truth Party), he has to call on Luke Rudkowski and We Are Change to even hold an inaugural event. Cynthia McKinney may have been a member of the Democrats, but she now has to stand on a stage and tell people what a great guy Luke is and how wonderful the work WAC is doing, even though prominent members of WAC openly advocate separating the USA into zones of habitation based on 'ethnic differences' and WAC is aligned with white patriot groups.

Sure there are hippies and dope heads and all sorts of people attached to this 911-conspiracy-thing. We just had Tracy Blevins here arguing for no planes on 911, as well as open sex and doobies for everyone. But she has no ability to organize or recruit members or anything except post on JREF. Her whole idea of 'evidence' and 'research' is showing off a rock she found in an abandoned building at a coffee shop somewhere. She's not part of any movement at all and has no ability to speak for anyone. Luke Rudkowski and his gang, on the other hand, have networks that reach in the world of right-wing militias and other anti-government reactionary groups.

The only reason that is true is because the left owns the White House and half of Congress. I don't think that it's so much growth by the right as it is the left retreating (albeit quietly so as to not embarrass themselves anymore that they already have) from 9/11 truth. That makes the loons on the right stand out more than they did when the left wing Bush hate machine was turned up to 11.

The right wingers/"Libertarians" were always there and probably started it but they were soon overtaken by the left. There's a reason that 9/11 truth started to die off in 2007 and pretty much disappeared in 2009 and it isn't because any of the facts on the issue had changed dramatically, because they didn't.
