I thought his easy-answers-to-terrorism threads looked familiar. Then it struck me:

Monty Python's "How To Do It" sketch

Alan: ...and how to irrigate the Sahara and make vast new areas cultivatable, but first here's Jackie to tell you how to rid the world of all known diseases.

Jackie: Hello Alan!

Alan: Hello Jackie!

Jackie: Well first of all, become a doctor and discover a marvellous cure for something and then, when the medical world really starts to take notice of you, you can jolly well tell them what to do and make sure they get everything right, so that there'll never be diseases anymore.

Alan: Thanks Jackie, that was great!

Of course, it was funnier the first time.

hmmmmmmmmmm......... let's compare....

Monty Python:

Jackie: Well first of all, become a doctor and discover a marvellous cure for something and then, when the medical world really starts to take notice of you, you can jolly well tell them what to do and make sure they get everything right, so that there'll never be diseases anymore.

EvilDave:

Very well: Cancer is not one, but many diseases. Some examples of causes are genetic, viral and environmental. Essentially, divide and conquor. Concentrate on the most common cancers and their causes, and continue researching and developing preventions, treatments and cures until they're all handled. "Cancer" won't be unversally cured instantly, but will eventually be. In the meantime, diet and safe, moderate exercise will do a lot more for extending your life.

Monty Python should sue for plagiarism.

Then again, you've got to admite the man who has the solution for cancer, but puts it aside to fight the more immediate problem of sloving world terrorism.

The world salutes you, EvilDave.

Yep, that's the bit that triggered the connection. Actually, the MP cure sounds a little more plausible than the mealy-mouthed backpedalling Dave provided.

Super, Dave, just super!

Say, wasn't Evildave recently discussing his new theory on the Brontosaurus?

Something about they were very thin on one end,
very thick in the middle,
then thin again on the far end.

:p

Just kidding Evildave!

Well, considering how jealously he clutches his useless theories and ideas, there is more than a passing resemblance:

"The answer to terrorism, which is my idea, that is to say it is mine and no one else's, is as follows (and is mine): We should turn the UN into a 24-hour global broadcast of the People's Court. That's my idea, and it's mine."

....Not kidding, evildave.

How many monkeys on how many typewriters create such dull and lifeless posts as yours Jocko? You should try some conditioner on your keyboard.

Something you`ll never have to worry about...since you just invent quotes from people as you go on your merry way they could never accuse you of that.

Speaking of British comedy, perhaps the best criticism of EvilDave's "solutions" to cancer, terrorism, etc. is Edmund Blackadder's skepticism of his servant, Baldrick, latest "cunning plan" when they find themselves (as usual) in some serious trouble:

"I don't think your particular brand of mindless optimism is the best way to get out of our present difficulties, Baldrick".

Sorry, I got as far as "typewriters" and dozed off. What were you saying again?

Absolutely correct, using the 'deadliest joke' is so much more effective.

But... but I can't speak German!

Ah, Monty Python... the great unifier of politics, nations and cultures. I feel all warm and fuzzy. What are the chances of installing Eric Idle as the next head of the UN?

BTW, do any German-speaking Python fans know what the hell that joke was? I'm dying (no pun intended) to know.

It was the "my dog has no nose" Joke...How does he smell?......Terrible.

deadly joke, use with caution.

Wow, a whole topic dedicated to me and Monty Python!

It's so touching. My adoring fans just can't give me enough.

Wasn't that the German counter-joke? That had subtitles. :D

I mean the original one... the one that was translated, one word at a time, so the Brits could read it without dying of laughter. It's hard to hear with the explosions and machine gun fire, but I think they read the whole thing at one point while leaping out of the trenches...

Give it up, Dave, we've moved on to something more amusing.

I do. Unfortunately, it's pure gibberish...

What a let-down. Another icon of youth shattered before my very eyes.

I doubt we will ever know as anyone who heard it is unlikely to have survived.

The real work is in editing those monkeys. You think you could just sit back and let them work, but going through all those pages takes forever. Don't even get me started on the spelling.

Evildave asks: "OK, so let's hear your solution to terrorism, stated in your own words."

Skeptic answers:
My cure for cancer is to run around naked covered with chocolate sauce while holding a rubber chicken and singing "Kumbaya".

Really, all the honors of this topic belong to Skeptic.
