One of Bigfoot's traits is to remain perfectly still. That way, you can't differentiate him from a stump.

One of his other traits is to sway, that way, you can't differentiate him from a swaying tree.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you turkeys out there who think that Bigfoot exists. From Ray Wallace and the Western Bigfoot Society circa 1994...

Chinese Bigfooters have a hair...

The Shennongjia Nature Reserve in Hubei province has examined a strand of hair which it has not managed to identify, prompting local people to speculate that it may belong to the "Wild Man" – China's own Bigfoot.

Piao Jinlan, a researcher at the reserve, said that scientists need to continue their tests before they can identify the species. The hair is said to be thicker than human hair and thinner than horsetail hair, and the reserve posted a photo on its website on November 22.

Those looney Bigfoot believers...

The theory of relativity is not a fact, it is a theory!

The theory of relativity, the theory of evolution, these get bandied about around here as if they are observable, repeatable, facts. These have less proof than there is for big hairy critters (Bigfoot) running around the forests!

Here is more info on Bob Saget going Bigfooting. More.

The cable TV program on Bigfooting with Bob Saget premieres tomorrow night on A&E. Info here.

New Series Review: Strange Days with Bob Saget:

Next was episode number two, "Let's Go Squatching: The Search for Bigfoot." After being slightly disappointed with the first episode, I went into this one not expecting much more from it.

I was pleasantly surprised, however, when Saget's adventure with this gang of misfits proved as entertaining as it sounds. Each member of the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Research Organization, and yes, it's a real thing) has his or her own story about their encounters with the sasquatch. With expensive equipment and sarcasm, Saget follows them into the Pacific Northwest wilderness in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the creature.

What made this episode better than the last was the ability of the group members to not take themselves so seriously, welcoming both Saget and his humor. Saget seemed more comfortable with this crowd and though he was mocking them, he also respected their stories and seemed genuinely interested in what they were doing.

Strange Days with Bob Saget premieres this Tuesday, November 30th at 10pm and 10:30pm on A&E.

Re: The "New" Bigfoot Forums

After the changeover, I chose to hold-off becoming a member of the new forum until I could gauge the direction which it would take(I had my suspicions but still held out hope). Now, after seeing the obvious course it has taken, and without some major changes put into effect, it is safe to say that I have no immediate plans to join. I will not be forced into acceptance and/or quiet toleration of any blind belief in anything, especially for the sole reason of being afforded the membership of some forum. Many will say "good riddance". Others will agree with me and know exactly where I'm coming from.

It is glaringly obvious that the original founding premise of the Bigfoot Forums has been completely abandoned in favor of promoting belief, sans any overtly skeptical viewpoints. All one has to do is follow the threads and pay close attention to how some of the more skeptical contributors are being strong-armed toward the door in a not-so-bashful attempt to stifle dissent. It pains me to see those with skeptical viewpoints forced into stepping on eggshells, lest they "disturb" or "disrespect" the status quo. A gaggle of ecstatic, starry-eyed cheerleaders are clearing the way for making Mulder's Reoccurring Dream of a Skeptic Free Environment in which to frolic unabated in fantastical flights of Bigfoot fancy come true.

Tragically, the once renowned, previously revered and one-time great phenomenon known as the "BFF" no longer exists. From what I've seen, the new version should have never been afforded the title, as it is glaringly obvious that it is nowhere near similar to the original in any way, shape or form. To add insult to injury, the noble efforts of the veteran members of the original forum have been forgotten in favor of the "New Way" of protected blind belief. Granted, a few of the old timers still show up and trudge on in their own noble(yet obviously futile) attempt to fight the swelling tide of blind belief by citing facts and pointing out fallacies, but the majority of the people who spent years out of their lives helping to make the original Bigfoot Forums into the "Best Bigfoot Talk on the Web"(and a place where the necessary skepticism was applied to keep in check any wild, unsubstantiated claims) have publicly and privately given up in disgust, and I can't say that I blame them.

I've seen things said along the lines of "Skeptics have their forum, we now have ours", referring to the JREF and the new BFF's. The JREF has never been a hotbed of Bigfoot talk, and I predict that it never will be, especially in comparison to the amount seen on the original Bigfoot Forums. The BFF has historically been *the* place on the net for Bigfoot discussion, Skeptic and Believer alike. If the Bigfoot Forums continues on it's current course, the seriousness given to the subject of "Bigfoot" will take a slide further down the tubes than ever seen before. Does the subject of "Bigfoot" really need more wanton, blind belief and the forced tolerance of unabated fantastical claims?

I personally saw this "New Face of Bigfootery" emerging long ago, fought hard with like-minded others in a(now obviously futile) attempt to keep it in check, and it now appears to be steaming full-speed toward full-circle. I have been very surprised to see those who I once butted heads with like "Incorrigible1" being forced into taking an defensive position against blatant institutionally sanctioned blind belief. That's a sure sign that it's gotten bad, really bad.

Those select few who still have the power to right the Bigfoot Forums out of it's now grotesque and bloated list either 1) approve, 2) do not care, or 3) are apparently clueless as to what's happening over there.

Good assessment, IMO. I pretty much gave up on the whole thing, it's just so hard to watch grown adults believing anything told them on the subject. A recent example is "Mike" on the Enoch thread, AKA Swamp Bandit. His claims are ludicrous, yet he gets plenty of ego stroking. Someone from GB came on and pointed out the obvious and had her head about torn off. It reminds me of a religion.

Speaking of grown adults, the guidelines over there say something about behaving like adults. It also says something about not calling people liars or making the arguments personal, and a bunch of other stuff along those lines. Too bad the one BFF Chief who regularly participates there is currently disregarding a whole bunch of those guidelines himself(things regular members there have been getting warnings for). Isn't that a great way to represent the forum as a person in his "exalted" position? Leading by example? :boggled:

Just another prime example of what's wrong with the "New BFF".

Kit has been straightforward and honest since the getgo. He's regularly vilified for it, yet he's one of the most interesting and well-informed posters there.

They remind me of a bunch of fundamentalists, everything deteriorates into raw emotion and anger when their beliefs and tactics are questioned.

Didn't that recent survey by two sociologists find the average Bigfooter to belong to a right-wing fundamentalist religion?

Politics aside (because I think it's a generalization), I'm not the sharpest knife on the tree or the brightest bulb in the drawer, but I recognize desperation when I see it, and I think the hard core proponents are very desperate.

Too bad, I think it's fun to talk about but when people make the argument personal because they don't have anything else it just isn't fun.
