Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Maybe some do (just like some scholars who are anti-Christian might lean to the later dates) but they have information to back it up as shown in post 16313.
No they don't have information. There are no copies with 65CE printed inside. The earliest bible we have is from the 4th century. All people have is theories, and the majority of bible scholars, the majority of which are Christians put the writing of all but one gospels after 70AD.

Didn't you see where I wrote the book was written in 2003. Are you saying an author who wrote a book about the history of New York in the 90's decade (in 2003) would never mention 9/11. Yes I know 2001 is not in that decade but still it is likely the author would say something about it at least once, and probably more than once.

He may easily not if it isn't relevant to his points. That's hardly unusual. Herodotus didn't mention anything about the fall of Themistocles despite writing well after that event and it fitting in with the themes of his work. Curtius Rufus never mentioned anything about the Roman Emperors despite his work on Alexander the Great despite the fact that comparisons could have been made. Suetonius never mentions Trajan or Hadrian in his biographies of the Caesars despite living through the first and directly working for the latter. We therefore have to be careful about not assuming that a work was written after the last mentioned event.

Actually Christianity is growing in absolute numbers around the world. and leads in converts. Also it is projected to be the leading religion in 2050.

And it seems that as the US and Europe are becoming less Christian (unlike Africa and Asia) their economies are becoming less powerful at the same time. And Africa and Asia's economies are increasing.

*cough* China *cough*

I see everything DOC. I have one of these:

That's exactly what I'm saying DOC. History books are like that. When you pick up a book about World War I you don't expect to find yourself reading about The Battle of Midway.

It's hard to believe you're having so much trouble with such a simple concept.

No, it is not, and neither is it likely that someone writing about a bloke that died in the 30s CE would mention something that happened in 70 CE.

And 1990-2000 still isn't a decade, so that's two things in one short post that you can't figure out.

Not a good look, DOC.

Gone with the Wind was a novel. Can you name any novels written in Palestine during the 1st century?

Some.

Mark (and the three plagiarised copies of it), most of the books in the so-called Apocrypha, the Pesher Habakkuk and the Genesis Apocryphon (found amongst the Dead Sea scrolls) and the Aten alone knows how many works that were lost with the destruction of the Serapeum of the Great Library in Alexandria in 391 CE by that enlightened Christian, Theophilus, Bishop of Alexandria.

Why do you ask?

DOC, there have been countless posts in this thread alone where people have answered your questions or corrected your mistakes, thus educating you on things you didn't know before.

You should be thanking these posters for the time they spend teaching you.

Indeed, one must wonder why you are so reluctant to show this courtesy.

He's not having difficulty with the concept, it's the same old difficulty - he can't admit when he's wrong.

And cool new avatar, O Pharaoh.

So you changed from saying a vast majority to majority. A majority could mean 51 to 49 percent.
[nitpick]Um...no. A majority would be any percentage over 50%, therefore 49% would not be a majority, but rather a minority.[/nitpick]

To be fair to DOC I think he was saying that 51% is in a majority over the other 49%.

Gamblers amongst you will be pleased to know DOC roulette is starting this weekend. As I type, the royal mint is busy pressing specially commissioned notes to wager on the fallacy of your choice.

Isn't there another possible reason why the Gospel writers didn't include the sack of Jerusalem?

IIRC they were worknig to ingratiate themselves with the ruling power - Rome - at the time.

So, from a political standpoint reporting the attack on Rome might be seen as an attack on Rome?

Also - isn't that where the reason behind the story of Pilate washing his hands of the execution of JC came from?

They really didin't want to aggravate Rome!

Maybe, too, they comment on the fact that the second coming is imminent, so temporal events may have seemed unimportant?

Evidence. This is what science is all about. Concrete evidence which has been shown over and over with hard facts like evolution for example. Millions of year old fossils reinforce the facts of evolution. Today no scientist in his right mind denies this fact. Including Professor Collins the leader of the human genome research team, even though he still believes in a literal Jesus. It appears he is wishful thinking around the facts.
Today we have not one scrap of evidence that the gospel writers were telling the truth besides the N/T which was written by ignorant goat herders and authors who had not an inkling of the workings of nature. People who believed in magic and resurrections of the dead. How on earth can any simpleton garnish from that, that the writers of the N/T were writing the truth. Perhaps they thought they were. But that's a giant leap for modern 21st century man to believe they were.
