Rand Paul supporter tries to 'curb' a Moveon.org member

Uh oh.

As much as it shames me to say it...Myself, Neally, and apparently RUSH LIMBAUGH all agree on one thing, it was her SHOULDER.

Joking aside, I agree with all 4 points Neally. though I would say he pushed down on her MUCH HARDER then was needed for "restraint", causing her entire upper body to go down on the other side of the curb.

See, a normal partisan hack would simply avoid this thread altogether. If the guy stepping on the lady wasn't wearing a purple shirt, then there's no hook to hang a :D on.

But some intrepid commenters go the extra mile, informing one and all that this lady was no normal lady that would ordinarily not deserve a good stepping-on. No, this lady was once accused of painting something on a boat that didn't belong to her, or helping others to do so. That really puts this incident in the proper context. Maybe what the camera doesn't show is that Paul's boat is docked just off-camera, and Profitt has been tasked with keeping it nice and clean. Who knows? Could be any number of perfectly legitimate reasons for two or three people to wrestle a lady down and then for one of them to step on her, pushing her head into the ground.

Did you not read the thread? The answer to that question is literally two posts above yours.

I am guessing either I got called to some task while I was writing the post and several minues passed before I finished or I didn't read your post. I am hoping the former. Sorry

You're equating stepping on someone's foot with being thrown to the ground and having your head stomped by someone weighing 100 pounds more than you? I love how she refused medical treatment for an open surgical wound. That means she's either lying or she's one of these idiot Teabaggers with no medical insurance railing against the health care bill.

I bet if that were your wife with her head stomped on you wouldn't be so sanguine.

If it was your wife or mother who had the surgical boot on would you be so hateful? Why are you so hateful to someone you don't know.

2. The action wasn't "stomping" nor was it on her head.

Ahem...

stomp (st

mp, stômp)
v. To tread or trample heavily or violently on.

The action was absolutely stomping.

And quite frankly, whether or not it was her head or her shoulder is immaterial. Some thug and his thug buddy decided to push to the ground a defenseless woman they each out-weighed by at least 80 pounds and then stomp on her, but hey, at least they didn't stomp on her head. Because that would have been over the line.

Yah i wtched it two or three times, and i can see how he may have tapped the back of her head with his heel, but if you watch it closely, the intent, and the focus of his weight is on her left shoulder.

With the first 'push', but the second one is on the head.

Silence isn't implicit approval.
Pffft! Paul's response blamed the victim and didn't condemn the member of his team who put his foot on the woman's head. And there was no reason for that boot on the shoulder or head. The woman was cowering on the ground for pity's sake!

... she's a professional "activist". I would love to see earlier video of the confrontation to find out why people were asking for police help well before she was wrestled to the ground.
Yes, and she has spoken on MSNBC now explaining the goal was to get a photo of her sign in front of Paul.

Has zero to do with a boot to the head of a person cowering on the ground!

Has the stomper been identified yet?
Yes, and he worked on Paul's campaign. He's also been served with a summons: Lexington Police Serving Former Rand Paul Volunteer With Criminal Summons
Rand Paul's former Bourbon County coordinator
Of course, after pressure, Paul fired him. Of course these positions are not ones candidates such as Paul personally hire. These are typically volunteer positions that may or may not evolve into paid positions.

So I wouldn't blame Paul that the guy was on his staff. But I do think Paul's response sucked, big time, blaming the victim.

Look at second 25-27. The guy's foot did start on the shoulder. But it then slid onto the woman's head.

It was more of a hard push than a stomp, though, and no grinding into the pavement.

I know that "kook" isn't exactly an objective term, but you really think it adds to the discourse to lump Paul in with guys who host conspiracy theory shows?

Of course it is. Paul, like his daddy, is bat crap crazy.

Not at all suggesting that this excuses the behavior of the Rand Paul supporter. But this does indicate that she's a professional "activist".

So freaking what? You know, this is not the first time that teatrash have gang-stomped a rival activist and then blamed the activist. It does warm my heart that, this time, at least, the teatard got charged with something.

And the teatards have no ground to complain that anyone should have been restrained after the crap they pulled at events like the Carnahan town hall. Godwin be damned, they are looking more like the Sturmabteillung every day.

You know, I was pleased to see the reasonable post of yours above, then you posted this:

So much for being reasonable. I know that "kook" isn't exactly an objective term, but you really think it adds to the discourse to lump Paul in with guys who host conspiracy theory shows?

Only when Alex Jones happens to be an avid supporter of Rand Paul.

I'm guessing they don't speak English on said planet either, much less understand that pretty much anyone who deals with the public or media has to phrase things a certain way, and that pointing this out should be limited to elementary school Social Studies teachers and the parents of small children.

If Rand had his way, elementary schools wouldn't exist. He's against public education and the DOE.

I can't speak for Unabogie, but if it was my wife or mom I would divorce myself of them.

Do you have the response that blamed the victim? And do you really believe what you post?

Paul's initial response was purposely vague and merely asked for civility from both sides. A later (the second one i think) comment from his spokespeople did strongly condemn the action and said they were distancing themselves from the volunteer.

I was actually referring to posters here, not Paul or his campaign.

I figured a semantic battle on this. A push is not a punch. What was seen on the video is the equivalent of a push not a punch.

Where it happened is absolutely is material. Is stepping on a toe different that a poke in the eye?

Finally you've creating a straw man. No one claimed what happened was not over the line.

The voice of reason, I think, would say this...

1. What was done to her was WAY OUT OF LINE, and charges are appropriate.
2. Rand Paul should have immediately condemned it, but at least he (through his people) did eventually do so.
3. The shoulder versus head, stomp versus heavy push is important, because it is important to give an ACCURATE description of the incident, so as to avoid INFLAMMATORY EMBELLISHMENT of what happened, which would be done solely for political reasons.
4. After reviewing the video many times, I feel that the SHOULDER was what was shoved/pushed, and it was done so much harder then would ever be needed for "restraint". The head seems to have been struck on the concrete below as a result of the motion. She did sustain a head injury, but based on my viewing of the tape, I would suspect it was secondary to the push of the shoulder causing her head to strike the concrete.
5. Semantics I am usually not in favor of debating, but I think when accuracy is important, here to avoid politically motivated embellishment, then one must try to be accurate.
