Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

*I should add that at the time he was active, Shakespeare had no idea that he was writing what would come to be known as The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, so it is in no way circular reasoning to cite one bit of The Complete Works as evidence of another bit.

Um.... Evidence?

:)
Oh, I know, now some skeptic may say but it's in the bible. And I say the NT writers never heard the word "New Testament" or Bible because the Bible didn't exist yet. These men (like the physician Luke) were reporting on the facts and information of the day just like any reporter or historian would. The fact that their writings became part of a book (the Bible) officially formed hundreds of years later does not affect the historicity of those writings (especially regarding Luke).
DOC, is Lucian's logic sound? Is this evidence that William Shakespeare was writing the truth?

I herewith proclaim Terry Partchett a prophet of the Great God Hex.
We all know that Terry Pratchett exists, and he explais the world quite neatly in his prophetic works "The Science of Discworld".
Since these books make absolute sense, we can therefore safely assume that
a) our universe is in a jar in Unseen University
b) Hex exists
and therefore:
c) Terry Pratchett is a prophet in direct contact with Hex.

And: I guess some people here have actually met Terry Pratchett, whcih makes the claims even more true.

Well, I did go to the same school as TP, while he was there (I'm a couple of years older than him), but I'm afraid I don't remember him.

I met him at one of his evangelical events, which I think are referred to as 'book signings'.

He definitely exists :)

You are, as always, right. And besides, he would tell us if he had us all on ignore, wouldn't he? So we'd know we were being punished...

According to my reckoning, even Aberhaten should be UnBlocked by now, which I'm sure is a great relief to him.

I dunno. Aberhaten is a jerk. He was over at my place last night and all he did was winge about the meal that he insisted I cook for him. What a wanker.

Because he was mistaken and relied on OLD evidence, modern study showed that the bible is totally unreliable when it comes to historical fact...

That's just a general statement with no examples and no sources.

DOC. You need to get a life. You cannot base your whole beliefs on these cretins. I have stated before, Luke was not the literal author of the gospel so named after him. The author of Luke, and three other gospels were all anonymous. None signed their names after each of the gospels. Names were given them much later, around the mid second century and later.

We've been over this before. We have no signature for Julius Caesar either (none, nada, zero)r even though he supposedly wrote a book, not to mention being the most powerful man on earth at one time.

And there is no evidence that the Gospel writers names were just randomly assigned. Mathew was an unpopular tax collector. If you made up a religion would you assign an IRS agent as the author when you are trying to attract the masses. If you could make up an author at that time would you assign a relatively unknown disciple like Mark (not even an apostle) to write a major gospel or a relatively unknown person like Luke. It doesn't add up to assign authorship to people like that -- translation: the authors weren't made up.

Say DOC, do you have any sources that aren't Christian Apologists who think that the NT is stunningly accurate and that there is Forensic Evidence for the Resurrection of Zombie Jesus?
