Tea Party upset in Delaware GOP primary?

The state GOP bigwigs are flipping out. They are actively opposing and attacking her. I wonder what will happen if she wins they primary? Will they just give up on what should have been a lock for the GOP to pick up a Senate seat?

We've seen that here in Colorado with both the Senatorial and Gubernatorial elections. Ken Buck beat mainstream Republican Jane Norton (herself a birther) for the Senate and Dan Maes took out Scott McInnis for the Governor's Republican nomination. Tom Tancredo has roiled the water's for the Governor's race by entering on the American Constitution Party ticket almost assuring a win by Democratic nominee and Denver mayor John Hickenlooper. However, Dan Maes is running neck-and-neck with incumbent Mike Bennett.

I think you meant Buck is running neck in neck with Bennett.

Thanks for the catch! Sorry about that.

Today Tancredo is supposed to find out if he can remain on the ballot or whether his candidacy is invalid because he switched parties too late in the year.

Yeah, although that might be a minor issue. Even with Tancredo out, The Dem is a heavy favorite to win the Governor's race.

Wow, it's really happening.
Tea party Senate favorites lead in NH, Delaware

In New Hampshire, Ovide Lamontagne was gaining 52 percent of the vote to 32 percent for former Attorney General Kelly Ayotte, with ballots counted from 6 percent of the state's precincts.

Returns from more than one-third of Delaware precincts showed Christine O'Donnell with 55 percent of the vote. Rep. Mike Castle, a fixture in state politics for a generation, had 44 percent in a race that turned particularly negative in recent weeks after the Tea Party Express rode to O'Donnell's aid.

I've never even heard of Ovide Lamontagne. Apparently Palin and the Tea Party are on opposite sides of this one, and the Tea Party is winning.

ETA: Oh, yeah. I remember now: Pundits said that Palin endorsed Ayotte because she was a "shoe-in" and NH is a very important presidential primary state. So much for that idea. :D

What's that I hear? It sounds like the GOP imploding because, between what happened tonight in Delaware & New Hampshire, they just basically blew any shot they had at retaking the Senate.

But at least they've got "real conservatives" on the ballot. Tea Party FTW!!! :)

ETA: Seriously, I bet the GOP establishment is simultaneously uber-pissed & scared right about now. Serves them right... you lie down with the dogs, and you get fleas.

every Tea-Party win in a Republican Primary election= a Democratic win in the General election.

:D

I love you, Tea-Baggers!!!

They will help secure Democratic rule of the House AND Senate through 2012.

"If he already knows what pleases him, and he can please himself, then why am I in the picture?"

That makes me sad for her.

Oh dear evil Jebus, she's more loony than I thought.

No wonder the GOP leadership was trying to stop her. She has a snowball's chance in Hell of winning that Senate race.

O'Donnell's a buffoon and those who are supporting her (notably Mark Levin and Dan Riehl) are giving Obama and the Democrats a real boost.

Brainster, if you read this, I'd really be interested in reading your thoughts, as a relatively moderate Republican, on tonight's developments. If you want to keep the conversation private, just PM me.

I wonder how much Larry Flynt would pay for her sex tape?

I can't find any reference to a husband, and given her views on masturbation and premarital sex, I assume that this woman has never had an orgasm or any kind of sex in her life. She is 41 years old. :o

Let's bow our heads and have a moment of pity for her. :boxedin:

ETA: or am I being too naive in taking her at her word? Either she doesn't practice what she preaches, or she's never had an orgasm.

I'd give her a pity ****. That'd last more than a moment.

In all seriousness, this is just further evidence that the Tea Party thing has gone Frankenstein on the GOP. They've created a monster that they can't control and it will cost them dearly in the end.

The big question is whether the Democrats can capitalize. They have a bit of a dilemma facing them as to whether to localize or nationalize their House races. If NY23 was any indication, the TP candidates haven't got a very good grasp of local issues. But at the same time, dragging O'Donnell and other extremists like Angle and Miller into the light and making them the new faces of the GOP may also prove beneficial.
