How would they know if it sounded inaccurate?
My first clue would have been the whole rising from the dead thing. But I have the luxury of modern science to know such things are impossible. People 2000 years ago didn't have such knowledge and wouldn't know the difference between fact and fiction. Why I'm expected to take their word for it is beyond me.

How do you know they didn't? You're supposing a lot. And don't forget that there are still jews, meaning there were jews then who knew jesus and didn't convert... What does that tell you?

Here we go again - a quote from a Christian Apologetics Organization. Ross would be one of the 3% of Scientists who are not Atheists (figures from the National Academy of Science).

All I can say about him is that he suffered severe brain poisoning by Religion. He therefore did not have the brain capacity to read the Bible with an open mind. I, as an amateur scientist with a strong interest in Astrophysics am ashamed of scientists like Ross who defect to the enemy, that being religion.

DOC. Oral tradition is WORTHLESS to show the veracity of something.

Heck the most basic oral tradition is proverb. Know what ? For nearly any proverb in my language I can find a contradictory proverb. Some are indeed very old too, older than your so called oral tradition.

That all mean SQUAT. Oral tradition only means that there is no written form of the tradition at that time. It does not say *ANYTHING* whatsoever about the truthfullness of that tradition.

Heck legend on Odin, Zeus and so on are mostly oral tradition, and those account are quite about as stable as your own so called oral tradition. Does that mean you also believe some gods transformed into a shower of gold to impregnate a woman ? Hell no.

All I can see is *ONE* account (Paul's) which you believe is correct without having any evidence of it. We went over the same type of idiocy with the "historicity of JC" threads.

This is not evidence. It is same (piss poor) argument Geisler uses the argument from personal belief.

The only evidence here is that the handed down storytelling was written down in the bible. This thread concerns evidence the bible is true. You are just presenting circular reasoning.

Famous? Paul converted lots of people yet Paul didn't know him. Those he converted obviously didn't know him The expansion of Christianity was through people who believed the story. That is not evidence it is true.
 
So... I take a break... give Doc time... and the amount of evidence presented thus far would not fill a postage stamp if it were written in 72-pt Arial Black...

Is that about the sum of it?

"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed."

So this "wicked and adulterous generation" can be saved only by believing that Jesus is their savior, but the "signs" they seeketh after, that might lead to their being saved, are withheld because they are "wicked and adulterous"?

You started this thread claiming evidence for why we know the new testament writers told the truth.

Now you're implying that we're wicked and adulterous generation for looking for the thing you claimed to present?
