Considering what happened, it's amazing the press were able to find so few people willing to trash Amanda:

Hardly. She was a loner that only had a small circle of friends and the family expended much effort in keeping the 'undesirables' out when it came to talking to the press.

Were it me, I wouldn't have been intimidated like many who knew Amanda were...but then I'm not in my late teens/early twenties.

That's not the point. If she was at the murder, she knew how much evidence was left there and that it eventually would be linked to Rudy. Accusing Patrick would serve no purpose other than to be charged later with false accusation.

No she didn't. She only knew what she could see.

These are short clips but it doesn't take long to show someone walking from one room to the next. Most clips involve the hall. We all know how important this area was.

The investigators did not change shoe covers as they walked around the cottage.

The first three videos show a cameraman walking around the cottage.

The fourth video show investigators walking from the hall into Meredith's room. Notice how many people were in Meredith's room. Also notice that the doors from Meredith's wardrobe are leaning up in front of the bathroom in the hall.

The last video shows how many people are walking around in the hall. The view is from Meredith's room. They actually take a mop out of the closet and wrap it in what appears to be wrapping paper from that same closet. I am not exactly sure why.

After watching the fourth and fifth videos you will see that the hall was heavily contaminated long before any luminol testing was ever done.

And, to expand on your point, WHY THE HECK were there so many forensics people crammed into the murder room / hallway? This absolutely cannot be "best practice", surely. Would the Perugia police normally send this many people to forensically analyse such a small and cramped crime scene? Or could this possibly have been a case of every available forensics officer inserting themselves into the situation - on account of this being a major, high-profile murder?

Hi LondonJohn,
I totally agree with your posting.
The photographer even appeared to shuffle/drag his feet as he went thru the doorway in 1 video. Contamination must be considered a possibility, but on which pieces of evidence, I don't know.

Kind of off-thread, but I wonder why police force's world wide, when investigating murders and such, do not place something like lightweight stepping stones/tiles with a lightweight sticky adhesive on the bottom, onto the floor where they work. That way you could reduce police investigatory contamination immensely. When done, simply pull them up, bag them and run testing on them, for they would have also transferred and collected any evidence underneath. You know, like when the police recover fingerprints with adhessive. That way you might lessen inner-room contamination, since everyone is only on the steps. If it's not available, someone should develop it, I bet that they could make some $$$. Something has got to be better than what I just watched on Bruce Fisher's video's...

Yeah, Amanda was a loner. Are you sure you're still working on the same case?

we have discovered the files are to large for a PM attachment. Send me your email to my email provided previously and I get it to you.

You might want to take a look at Docstoc.

It's a service not unlike Photobucket, or flickr, or Picassa Online, except it's for documents. You can store and share large document files from there.

I don't know, I suppose studying a subject for two and a half years or more results in one being informed on it...that's my guess.

Yes, by profession I'm a detective, of sorts. As for crime novels, I can honestly say I've never read one in my life. Have a good one too...uh, catch a good wave :)
Hi Mr. Fulcanelli,
What, you never have read a crime novel, you're kidding me!
I was a big fan of the Travis McGee series by author John D. MacDonald when I was a kid.
And I find this real life murder case especially interesting, as I do the debates here. You represent your side of the case very well, and are very informed, as I pointed out. Though I might disagree on some of the things both you, and Mr. Fisher present, it's ALWAYS an interesting read.
Take it easy, RWVBWL

ps-surf was really fun today, but it is GALE FORCE winds right now in Los Angeles.

I haven't been following the thread much, so please excuse my ignorance on this, but why is it important to show the police moving about the hall when A) they had to get in out of the rooms, B) it looks as if they had identified some areas (markers on the floor), and C) just before the body was discovered there were people moving around the rooms?

She cleaned what she saw...is that tough?

Not only tough, but extraordinary.

I think what you're trying to say is that she could see Raffaele's and her own evidence, so she cleaned it all up, but she couldn't see Rudy's evidence, so she left it there. Is that right?

This is pure, malicious slander.

Or...cleaned where she and Raffaele had been - i.e. the hallway in front of Meredith's room and took a break in the garden before cleaning the bathroom ;)
Hi BobtheDonkey,
If Amanda Knox was taking a break before cleaning the bathroom,
why would she have called Filomena to tell her of the strange happenings at their apartment?

AK possibly thinking:
"Let's see, wow, I must have gotten really stoned last night, my new boyfriend is cool, always smoking me out and that Rudy guy always has the best chronic. Wow, what a heavy night! What am I gonna do now? Hmmm, things just got outta hand last night. Stupid Meredith, if ONLY she would have submitted! Now what? I'm involved in murdering my housemate, so I better try to clean up all traces of the crime that I can see and remember that my boyfriend and I left. We'll blame it on the black guy. But I still have the bathroom to do. I better hurry up and finish.
No wait, I think it's a good time to call Filomena, my other housemate, and tell her of my strange findings at our apartment. Maybe smoke another bowl, I can finish cleaning later."

Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito cleaning up selective areas of a murder scene just doesn't jive, in my opinion. But you know, our opinions do differ.
Hmmm...

I have many, many friends, young, and old, who luv smoking out. Many do that as soon as they wake up-
(heck, even though my parents were hippies back in the 60's, and I've even grown pot, I haven't gotten stoned myself since abouta year ago. Gimmee a cold 1 or shotta Jack!).

I sometimes wonder if Amanda or Raffaele got stoned again after getting up and outta bed. As the evening before, Halloween was a late night out, I can see the young lovers sleeping in a bit the next night+morning, waking up and smoking a bowl before starting to get ready for their trip. If so, as things were going down, that must have been a heavy experience.

I also wonder if they were both still smoking after the first day's discovery and questioning. I can easliy see someone who burns a lot doing that to unwind after the stress of dealing with the murder of Amanda's housemate, and the questioning by the police. Myself, I would have gotten seriously drunk! If Amanda and Raffaele are truly innocent, what a nightmare!
Just a thought...

ps-I don't even want to think about Miss Kercher's nightmare.
R.I.P. Meredith Kercher!
