One of our commenters brought this up. My response:

1. The tale is hearsay; he does not say that he heard this personally from Silverstein but from police officers and Con Ed workers. Who told them is anybody's guess.

2. The article makes it clear that the building did not come down from CD; rather it came down before any attempt at CD could be made.

3. Looking into the possibility of CD seems sensible; just covering a base. However, given that the Fire Department had already predicted the eventual collapse of the building, it's doubtful that it was necessary.

4. I do wish the writer had talked a bit about the fires in WTC-7; according to several accounts, the building was "just roaring" and "fully involved in fire".
 
I tend to doubt the conversation ever happened.

Why would these people know what Silverstein was doing? Isn't controlled demolition in NYC not allowed because of fears of collateral damage anyway? It sounds way too premature to be having this kind of conversation with the insurers considering at that time it would not have been Silverstein's call.

Larry S. didn't make his many millions sitting under a coconut palm tree in the fall. Even if true who could blame him for considering the CD option?

I kind of doubt that this happened. I mean who the hell would go into a burning building that is about to collapse anyway in order to rig it to collapse.
 
Anyway, I don't get it anymore...

If one of the goals of 9/11 was to destroy the secret papers stored in WTC 7 (???) the perpetrators sure would want it to make it look like WTC 7 collapsed due to impact damage from WTC 1 and the unfought fires.

So what good would it do in this scheme to act out Silverstein was contemplating a controlled demolition, even though everything was rigged to make it appear as a structural failure?

Ok, so the NWO didn't care about the Death Toll from WTC 1 and 2... But they found any sort of death toll from the collapse of building 7 so deplorable that they risked exposing the entire operation by telling people WTC 7 was about to be demolished?
 
Better yet, if Silverstein was going to legitimately demolish WTC 7, why wouldn't he just say he demolished it? Why bother covering anything up?

Either:
  • A: The New World Order wants to demolish the building, but convince everyone it wasn't demolished at all. In this case FDNY would maintain a perimeter and claim to have not let anyone in, NIST would report that it collapsed due to fire, explosives experts would insist it wasn't anything like a real demolition... or
  • B: The New World Order wants to demolish the building, and convince everyone the demolition was necessary. In this case they'd announce that it was demolished, FDNY would approve it, NIST would report that it was demolished, experts would explain how it was done, and so on.

The three Truthers left (P'Doh, a No-Planer, and Dr. Griffin, I presume) are of course going to try to have it both ways. Stupidity, desperation, or insanity? Who can tell?

Who cares? They're done. There's not even enough remains of the Truth Movement left for a convincing zombie at this point.

What does unsubstantiated hearsay even matter in the real world?

If this story were true, where does it specifically mention they heard him on the phone with his insurance company talking about the CD of BUILDING 7? Could he not have been discussing in this fictitious scenario Building 6..which was demolished and also known to be unstable?

According to the Wikipedia article on Larry, buildings 1, 2, 4 and 5 were insured not by one but 24 different insurers. I could not find on short notice any information on who insured building 7, but I would think it would also not be one but several insurers.

If Larry talked to any insurance that day, it might much more likely been his tenants: ITT Hartford Insurance Group occupied 6% of office floors, the second largest tenant after Salomon Smith Barney who held 64%. It would be sensible to inform tenants that fire fighters were pulled for safety reasons and that therefore the building would most likely get totalled.
 
How did Silverstein get debris to hit WTC 7? I mean, in order to claim a plausible, unintentional collapse of building 7, he needed debris to hit it, damage it, and start fires. How do you think he made this happen? Or was it just incredible serendipity while Silverstein kept his fingers crossed while building 1 and 2 collapsed?
