Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

...Appeal to popularity.

Appeal to authority. (It was the Roman authorities who chose the dating scheme we use. It's also rather silly, as Jesus was not actually born on the date our scheme says he should've been.)

Appeal to authority.

As I've said before, when it comes to martyrs, we Jews have a few million legs up on you Christians. Not a particularly convincing argument.

Appeal to authority.

That's merely an excuse for taking his words and beliefs completely out of context.

Fallacy after fallacy...

You forget, I wasn't saying why Christianity was true, I was describing why it was different from other cults. So your fallacy statements don't apply.

Do these attempted derails indicate that you have finally ceded that there is no evidence that the New Testament writers told the truth?

You forgot to also include Christianity's other features which make it different from other cults.

1.) It historically supported Feudalism
2.) It historically supported slavery
3.) It encouraged anti-semitism
4.) It practices ritual symbolic cannibalism
5.) It is largely responsible for lying about the use of contraception and the spread of AIDS.
6.) It is responsible for the genocide of several groups of people. (South america, in particular)

So a strawman fallacy. The proposation was that Christianity is a cult. Pointing out how Christianity differs from other cults is not relevant.

If I give 5 reasons why New York is different from Washington does not mean that New York is not a City.

Then you realise that you'll need to be providing some {primary sources}.

From the article what is a Primary Source:

primary source: A primary source is a document, speech, or other sort of evidence written, created or otherwise produced during the time under study.

http://www.knowledgecenter.unr.edu/instruction/help/primary.html

Much of the time under study in this thread is the period that the New Testament was written- the years before 100 A.D.. So we have 31 primary sources from the New Testament and several primary sources from Josephus who mentions Christ twice, John the Baptist, and James the Just {the first bishop of Jerusalem}.

This is much better than Alexander the Great (who conquered much of the known world) where most of what we know about him was written by historians over 400 years after his death.

Yes, I know, it's all love your enemy, love your neighbor, Jesus' fault.

A good amount of it is.

Afterall, Like Jesus said, "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

His rather Cavalier attitude toward beating slaves certainly wasn't commendable.

ETA:Let's not forget that I was referencing the fact that Christianity has other "not so admirable" features that are different from other cults. But none of this changes the cult status of Christianity.

Why am I not surprised DOC has repeated attempts at derailing the thread yet again with talk of American presidents and debunked sources rather than present evidence the NT writers told the truth?
DOC has had over 200 pages to present this evidence and has failed to do so. Everything posted up has been debunked and more than once.
Isn't it time to move on, DOC?

Good save from DOC, this thread nearly dropped off the first page. It would be a tragedy if it were no longer "out there for all to see."
